This is a 1942 WW2 United States Marine Corps Medical Corpsman's Bolo Knife, made in Chatillon, NY. This is a third piece I restore/modify for Mr. Barnhart. This collectible piece measures about 16-5/8" long and a 2-3/4" tall.

This was/is my fathers knife he was a w-4 Marines. He carried this on his person. At some point he said that they were given to navy medic’s they traded them to marines. For whatever reason . He really loved this and used it as long as I can remember. He passed away in 1988 and I’ve had it with his dress blues in a box. Thought it needed to be back out in public. So here it is. Slavik is a coworker of mine and I have several things that he’s done. He never disappoints.

A lot of great decisions on that restoration, and beautifully done. The blade retains it's history and character, but the new desert ironwood scales and cleaned-up look are fantastic.

This in my opinion was a fairly sensitive restoration. So many people remove all traces of the history of the item altogether which is a shame.
I do agree with you. I don't even know if those handles were original because screws were not.
