Jacob my guy thanks for providing us some bass love during this covid-19 mess God bless all my bass heads y'all stay safe n bass✌🏾✌🏾💨💨
But how do you know where to set the sub sonic at I’m not too sure
I have EARTHQUAKE TREMOR X8 8inch 8ohm 500w rms svc subwoofer. What kind of box is best suitable for this subwoofer? I am using 500w 4ohm mono amplifier for this.
😂😂 someone told me turn subsonic to the lowest frequency. Sub blew, Skar replaced it no questions asked and now I’m here. Do NOT and I repeat do not listen to people who “been doin’ dis before you was born” gotta love Skar for their forgiveness in my mistake.
So did you leave it off? Skar's site says they recommend setting subsonic to 25-35hz but Idk how I feel about trusting that info
Brooo i did the exact same thing Lmao
Skars warranty service is 10 fold better than any company I have had in the past. Even sundown didn’t come close (and they died faster than my skar did)
My sundown 15 lasted about 5 months.
My skar 15 on more power (rated the same) lasted 11. Now keep in mind I play about 3 hours a day.
I don't know how to set up my subsonic filter for Spanish music😢
@Kindalouddecaf not the subs fault for blowing that's your fault for clipping your amp or over driving it.
Loving all the new content...
thanks Steger!
Nice tutorial video Jacob
Very informative. Can you tell me what apps are you using for the test tones, dB testing, others?
SSA Studio App and Meter device
Nice vids
..but wtf did u do to that Expedition and Home depot?
Hi I just received my now updated system to 2 10s Evl d4 & skv2-2500.1d I don't have an expensive dd1 cc1 anything of that nature just a custom ported box tuned for 32-34hz what says you to help me getting my Amp set right very much appreciated?
Nice video very informative 👍
I got 2 kicker comp r I'm trying to find the sub sonic and lpf shits confusing
So if my box is 40hz what should my amp be set on
Great video. I've noticed for most subs that around 25hz is about perfect.
Yep as most average boxes are tuned around 32 to 36hz ranges.
this is my go to way learning from this video. I think its the best way honestly.
Good job now that coil will not hit the back plate or leave the gap. 28hz isn't bad for a 10" subwoofer.
What’s a good setting for a 4th order? My port is set to 45hz and amp is crossover is set to 63
Depends how your low end response peak is. Most people turn off subsonic for 4ths since good cone control or atleast set the subsonic around half an octave below your low end peak. I personally set my subsonic to 20hz for my 4th awhile back.
Where can you find those beats you were using to test the excursion with?
I honestly forgot, I recall it was from a Subsonic Suicide SPL Site a few years ago. Maybe someone else knows.
Just got a spl 5500 never had a class d before so i didn’t know what it did lol
I have 2 12” Rockville subs in a box with a built in amp and it only has the gain and lpf knob, how do I set my lpf? it goes from 50-250. I did the 40hz test tone to set my gain but I can’t get that THUMP I want and I’m confused on setting the lpf
Lpf setting video: ua-cam.com/video/vLlRjGckgHg/v-deo.html
Will this work with more than 1 sub in the enclosure on separate amplifiers
Yes long as subs are in a common chamber and amps are same power tuned the same
Is it true on a ported box tuned to let's say 36htz...the subsonic should be set at 36?..or am I wrong in the way I set mine?
No if a box is tuned to 36 you want more like 28-29hz.
@@JacobViral2 thanks....keep the videos coming.....be safe.....
I have a question if the subsonic filter is from 10-90 where would 35hz be
about 10% below half mark
Fml I’m so lost been trying to tune my amp for a week now
I didn't have a plastic screwdriver to adjust the gains one day and I discovered that you can heat a coffee stir sick from Mickey D's with a lighter and squeeze it flat to make a throw away adjustment tool.
Nice! Whatever works :)
@JacobViral2 hey bro if my ssf has numbers 0-50 where about is 30?
It's called (McDizzals) by the way
I actually like that back song playing. Is there a name for it? I can use it when I'm tuning my subs. It's not all annoying
Yes i use them alot: ua-cam.com/play/PLkYp1Fj-99b2H7J0BJf53vdtgUWaZZtxg.html subsonic tracks
so was this the issue for the bottoming out? if so what is your new output?
During my demo video posted a few days ago yes. I had my subsonic to low for my high tuned box which I personally like the highs for a change instead of all lows.
@@JacobViral2 slight question, so i'm running 2 amps strapped and my real life final ohm load on the last 3 clicks goes from 1.5 1.8 and 2.0 ohms.. the boxes are 1.55 cu ft 10 inch xfl subs.. is it normal for ohms to rise like that during the ascent to the highest vol? i do plan on getting a custom box but even still it wouldn't exceed 1.8.. or do you think it's a port issue? it's labyrinth style tuned to 37hz. all my testing was done at 40 hz. 66v 33a was final load volts and amp (amp is apmn 1500x2 wired to .7 but seen as .35 per amp.) thank u for any insight bro.
So do you keep going down in hurtz test tone till it boots out
That works depending on how you do it yes
If my sub box is 44hz what should my sub sonic be set at? Sub is 1500 rms and the amp is 2000 rms?
around 33hz, thanks for watching!
Is there some kind of app I can use my phone to see how many decibels my bass is hitting or do I have to purchase something? And if I need to purchase something what would be the name of it or brand?
Have to purchase a meter. I use the SSA Meter from sound solutions personally.
How do I figure out what my box is tuned to?
I’ll eventually do a video on this but the frequency where the subwoofer moves the least with most port air velocity is near tuning. Test with sweeps and tones. Also can do the box calculators to find out.
Were should you put your low pass filter at. My subs love 10Hz to 55Hz so should I set it around 55hz?
I'll make a video on this sometime, but you wouldn't want it set that low as the crossover will affect your high end response greatly by being turned down that low. Usually between 80-100hz is average good for the lpf.
@@JacobViral2 thanks I'm not sure what mine is but it's a little under the halfway mark 35-200 Hz I think is my low pass filter. You used to have a similar amp and setup to mine so you probably know what's a good place to set it. I leave my subsonic off because the subs I got are the hdx3s which have a xmax of 36mm one way 72mm xmech same motor as the hdc3s😀 I love your amp Jacob if I had more money to throw away on my money pit I would of got 2 soundqubed 2200 bridged to 2ohms mine are the d2 and half ohms bridged would be to much on a bridged setup usually. If your amp is 1ohms then if you bridged 2 amps together than you put more strain on the ohms by double usually so recommend ohms for my 2 1ohms amps is now 2ohms because there bridged same concept for bridging a 2 or 4 channel amp if each channel can handle 2 ohms than its best to bridge the channel to 4ohms double of the minimal ohms recommend. Maybe you should do a video on ohms on bringing amps and a low pass filer video. Your the best Jacob and I wish we could meet someday. Can I have a Shout Out my bass friend😀
I have a taramps amp that also has a filter for subsonic. How would I tune that😃
Same concept as lpf/subsonic amps like mine. Some turn setting all the way down and works too
So if my box is tuned to 32 hz is my ssf good at day 28 hz is we're I have it n my lpf at 70 hz
I would lower it to around 24 if it’s truly tuned to 32.
How would you do this if you had a dsp installed?
I don’t use DSP so idk, probably best to tune the DSP first.
I didn't understand a single thing....
Meaning the sub look the same to me in all instances. If I'm suppose to be looking for how high & low it bounces shouldn't just place a ruler on top at a certain high? Anyways thanks for the video
You gotta know what is your box tuned to before u do. That’s why he was playing different songs at different HZ frequencies. If the excursion (how far your cones push out) is too far, you can fuck the subs up. You don’t want it to be pushed out too far to the point it’s separating itself from the magnets of the subs. You’re going off visual not a ruler. Watch the video to determine how far is too far for the cone to be pushing as a reference point on setting your subsonic knob.
so we set the sub sonic to what’s your box is rated at ?
Yes and no, depends on sub spec, cabin resonance, tuning, goals, etc
Helpful video....would love to see a video of how to check your box tuning
ok here goes .. to check box tunning . you need a tone generator app. (free in the play store). then you start the tone gen. and start high like in the 80 hz.range .slowly lower the hz. watching how much your sub moves when it stops or allmost stops moving that is the hz. your box is tuned to .. so when your box is built right your sub should hardly be moving when playing at or near the tunning freq. of your box.
He just showed it in the video lol.
Can you do one for mids and highs I can't find one anywhere on how to set for that everyone and there Grandpa has one on sub amp but no one has it for that
It’s to hard as every 4 channel amp is different but maybe could for concept
My biggest problem is gain on sub amp you have the clipping light to help set but on the mids and highs you have nothing so I don't know how to set or around about where to set but thank you
@@Monsta2592 4 channels have different crossovers. You'd use hpf instead of lpf. Youd go for 120hz rather than 80hz. Same thing can be applied just remove the door panel or before you install them wire them to the amp and have them lined up and do the test
When I set mine at all it doesn't sound as good
If my subs are tuned at 33hz my subsonic is good to be at the same hz?
If box is tuned there I would go half an octave below do around 27-28hz
@@JacobViral2 yeah boss but subs fall max at 32 hz 33hz is the box
So if my box is 40Hz what should my mono amp be set on ???? Please answer
Thank you in advance ❤️❤️
29-30hz subsonic
@@JacobViral2 Thank you sir, how about my other tuned control like Bass Boost freq. and bass boost what should i do to set .
bass boost freq. - 30 to 80hz
bass boost - 0dB to 12dB
for now i set bass boost freq. - 30hz
and bass boost is - 0dB .
please sir again answer my question . thank you much sir in advance . ❤️❤️ for power and god bless ❤️❤️

Can you give me the download links for the different frequencies please I have the exact same amp I just bought. And I just have 1, 10 kicker comp I'm going to bridge it to 1ohm. I have 6 and 3/4 in the door but they aren't powered by a mid amp they're powered by the deck itself it's a badass JVC it puts out 300 watts itself. And it has all the frequencies 1632 1.5 250 400 Kh 650 1,000 2,000 I mean it's a badass deck. I just need to know how to set my sub mainly I'll figure out the door speakers but obviously I don't want to blow the door speakers cuz a few years ago I bought the same setup and my amp was fine and my sub was fine but I blew the door speakers
Playlist I have for tones: ua-cam.com/play/PLkYp1Fj-99b2idXulV19eVzlIiPcXR2CD.html
What exactly does it do got mine all the way down to 50hz
50hz seems high for subsonic, it helps cutoff octaves below tuning drastically less output
So does that mean your box is tuned to around 28-30hz?
No it was tuned little higher than that
You know how hard is to be right next to Sundown SAs playing a 40hz tone, trying to set the gain?!
A multimeter with no subs hooked up don't have any difficulty, or you that guy who thinks doing it by ear is right?
@@FrankySenses I can also get the si sonic with the multimeter?
How much you payed for the speaker

bro my amp is from alpine pdx m-6 and it only has off, 15 hz or 30 hz what should i set it at?. im running 2 12 inch infinitys 300 rms each
30hz should be fine
@@JacobViral2 aight cool thanks bro, hey i got another question, i was setting the gain with a multimeter on my amp, and the power cable i used while doing this method is 8 awg temporarily while i was waiting for my 4 awg wire to arrive. Does this affect the settings? Like the gain settings on the amp should be different since itll be a bigger wire? Thanks
90sFella shouldn’t as there’s no high current draw during gain setting only. On speakers yes but this now.
@@JacobViral2 aight thanks bro
How to set a black diamond 1500 watts amplifier
Same as this if its a monoblock class d for subs
Always set ssf half an octave below tuning or to be even safer, 3 to 5hz below tuning.
If my subs are tuned at 33hz can i put subsonic filter at the same hz? Or lowest 28-30 hz..?
@@denisbasshead7787 your box is tuned not subs. So, if your box is truly tuned to 33hz, then you can put subsonic to 25hz. My box is tuned to 33hz too. I put my ssf at 30hz for extra safety and the amp will work less harder and save power and be louder and be less stressful on the subs and u can set gain a touch higher and there is little difference in sound. However, if u listen to nothing but rap hiphop and decaf or bass music then setting st 25hz with a lower gain may be better for you. But if general music then id go for 30hz
@@akuma4u box tuned 33 hz yes and my subs is 33hz can't go lower i set subsonic at 30hz
I didn't hear more see it bottom out????
Pioneer amp don't have subsonic 😢
Man is there a chance you could help me out?
Maybe whatsup?
When I change my subsonic it doesn't seem to do anything
It mainly affects lower frequencies only below 30
@@JacobViral2my box is tuned at 32 I have it set round 32 my amp but since I am at 32 shouldn't it be around 24 ?
My amp subsonic is also 12 db octave
@@user-mh7vb7jg4e Correct 24 is better, if you do 32 it will cut off some bass your losing out on. -12dB is normal.
@@JacobViral2 thank you for the response back I am going to set it down to 24
What if my mono doesn't have subsonic filter?
Im also wondering, i used to bang everything on my old monoblock gm-d510 that was build without subsonic filter, it sounded great , not a single error in sound, tight bass on most music lpf was only adjusted to ~70hz, juicy , low enought bass even on decaf tracks or really low rock .. now i have dd audio dm1500 stronger monoblock with subsonic, and subsonic scale starts from 10hz , lpf starts from 20hz , i turned off subsonic all the way down, and set lpf to 30-40 and it sounds on hi volume like the speaker its choking on the same tracks like i used to play on old amp without any subsonic, so there was no ssf and here its just off, so does it mean that amps without subsonic, has filter but builded in by default by factory with some „safe” setting? , and amps with a subsonic when you switch off the filter their can response all frequencies down to 1hz if u know what i mean..? when you turn the knob from ssf 1mm from minimum (10hz in my case) to lets say 11hz , their start to filtering just then? Tech support from dd audio told me if ssf is all the way down (10hz) , its like no filter is on and its a full range, but then again amp response range starts from 10hz - 200hz, so why on one amp im getting choking sound like speaker is getting out of controll on high volue( no clipping) and on the other amp i didnt. Anybody? I like ultra low bass that teally make seats moving rather than hard bass that makes half of a car rattling, and that can be achiveed by going low on lpf, around 70hz on old amp.. on new amp i have to go to 20hz lpf to achive this soft bass punch without rattle, but then my sub is choking on some tracks and getting out of controll on some sub kicks ,
it sounds like error in bass, that the audiable part of the kick wants to bang , but infrasounds in the same time are afecting the movement of the membrane, im wondering why that didnt happend on my old amp that does not have knob for subsonic filter... but this problem only happends on some music that was produced without cutting off everything below 10-15 hz during mastering, but still i think some amps without subsonic filter might have some slope bellow some frequency maded by manufactury to protect or squize more bass, and a amps with a subsonic filter (depending of quality of the amp) might go even lower if user wants, but still sone amps has diferent frequency response range, in some specs i see 10-200hz, others , 15-200hz, others even 7-250hz ...but phisically you can play 5 hz on anp that has fq response 15-200 hz and speaker will move anyway. Bit mindfuck cause technically he shouldnt acording to specs.
@@RAFIBASS well it depends kn output filters of amp. Every amp has different characteristics and tonal performance. Try playing 5hz tone you'll find the difference. But if you have subsonic now it's better to use it to safeguard subs from decaf ultra lows.
What tf do I do if it just flexes less and less the higher hz I go ????
That's normal for higher the frequency for subs
@@JacobViral2 thanks man your the goat that’s why I try to ask you first
What I like to do is just turn the subsonic off or all the way down and I have my lpf all the way up, I’m just careful on what I play
Long as you know your limits you're golden unless you hit that NEXT Button and it's on full tilt on say a Way Under Tuning song lol. I've done that before.
Lol LPF all the way up??? Subs are meant to play 80 to 100hz and down...not meant to play mid bass and vocals...
@@akuma4u it’s just always what I’ve done and how I’ve had the best results… No need to judge or make fun of you do you and I’ll do me
@@jacob.palmer when was i judging or making fun? I told u the facts. No sub is meant to play vocals. By having your lpf all the way up, it will sound muddy and you have some vocals coming thru. A sub is meant to play sub bass frequencies only meaning typically 60 to 80hz and down. ANY shop and ANY car audio fan will tell u this. This has nothing to do with making fun or judging. This is about telling u the right way.
@@akuma4u well with the way my amp is tuned it’s sounds really good… you can check it all out on my channel
I'm tuned to 19Hz in my car so I don't really have to worry as much as most people do because of that.
The only stuff I'm afraid of (Sorta, I do have my Highpass set to around 13Hz) Is random songs that have stuff in the single digits because they thought it was a good idea... I'm looking at you "Sabb-Baroque" with your 3Hz opening. (From the Album: Bass from Hell, Vol. 1 - track 9)

Yep lol subs brand new needs to break in to
With my skar amp I dont even need a tool anymore no more searching everywhere use my fingernail all amps should be like that not inside the amp
