Trying out a new Stradivari violin plugin

- Let's take a look at Native Instruments' new Stradivari Violin library for Kontakt. As the name suggests this library was made by sampling a few original Stradivari Violins in a museum in Italy. This video is a first impressions, tour, demo and mini-review all wrapped into one.

Thanks for watching! I just wanted to add a note about the interval stuff. I thought about it some more and I think a perfect solution would be to involve the sustain pedal. For example if the sustain pedal is pressed while playing a note, then that note should be added as an interval instead of played legato. I think this would allow for the regular legato playing like we have now in the library and it would also allow control for playing simple intervals from time to time by holding down a sustain pedal. Currently it appears the sustain pedal isn't used so it would be a perfect addition in a new update. Anyway, that's just a suggestion for how to improve this already fantastic library. Again I want to stress that this interval issue is not a big deal and it doesn't take away from the majority of the plugin. My issue isn't about playing chords or having a string ensemble, it's more about being able to sprinkle in the occasional 2-note interval seamlessly while playing mostly legato lines.
30:32 The rest of the quartet will be released later this year!
Fantastic news, can't wait!
Any violin quartet will be fired by then :)
I know I've said it before, but I love that your sound demonstrations aren't just informative, they're also entertaining.
This video single handedly made me upgrade my Komplete to the Ultimate Collectors Edition 13 so I can have the full quartet and the Symphony Series. Thanks!
Glad you are back!
Wonderful! Many mahalos!
Would have never guessed this library is so good. Thanks for the great walk through!
thanks. helpful demo.
dang, sounds really freaking good.
Only at the part where you're listening to individual mic positions....imo close sounds like what mid should be and mid sounds like far. I'm disappointing at how wet the close mic sounds. I have some Spitfire libraries, the close mics sound so much drier. I really like the portamento. Thanks for doing these long form videos. I listen to them while I work and they're a joy to listen to.
Yeah, close mics should always be bone-dry.
You are backkkkk 🎉
great review very indepth thanks
I'd love to hear you play some of the VSTis from Felt Instruments, particularly Lekko
The cello player that they sampled is actually a friend of mine that actually live in Cremona.
IFeeeeelGood. Then he must have a Stradivari!
Grande Andrea Nocerino
Pianissimo and Fortissimo ;) (hope i wrote that right) Cool demo and playing !
Amazing review! I got this because of you. keep up the great work. Now all Native Instruments needs to do is come up with a cello version that is the same.
it's part of the cremona quartet. :>
@@gabiking6331 That's so cool! Do you have it? is it worth getting?
I would love a video of you trying out Embertone's Joshua Bell Violin, maybe comparing it to this library. It's also a Stradivarius violin and IMO it has more of an "alive" feeling compared to NI's very "studio" feeling violin.
Sounds like pretty nice plugin... Do you know if it has a re-bowing option?
Is there any way we can make use of Aftertouch while controlling the strad library?
What would you suggest a studiologic SL88 studio with vst or Roland fp30x?
Sound and action primary concern.
And what is the option for violin playing on midi, I mean there is no pitch/modulation wheel on Roland fp10 or fp30x?
What about pitch bend and modulation wheel? You dnt have those on fp10?
sounds a bit slow, or is it u, that dont activate vibrato on after touch?.
Pretty good, but it's no SWAM engine violin
FF is called "fortísimo"
Thank you. It sounds quite good, indeed. But to my ears, too regular to sound natural :
1°) The attack sound is always the same. A kind of randomizing of the attack timbre should enhance.
2°) In a real play we can ear some modulation at each bow reverse. The hamonics are moving along with the bow motion. It's very difficult to simulate that.
Use the mod and pitch wheels
Yeah if you use the mod wheel, the attack can be changed. Then there are many, many keyswitches and articulation controls for that as well
13:07 did you play "high strung" from the rise of nations OST?
I think it's the Bach "little fugue" in G minor
@@zachyoung73 Bach probably stole it from the game
@@BorkDoggo I don't think so he mainly played FPS
se pudiera obtener estos hermosos instrumentos Gratis, alguien me ayudaría a conseguir Gracias
Waooooooo
The timbre of the sounds are great, but the pitch is off compared to a real violinist - the way you are handling the intervals moving through split chord progressions is wrong. A real violinist naturally sharpens and flattens notes to make them sound more musical, it is something that needs to be built into sample instrument playing of “real” bowed and blown instruments I think, otherwise they always sound slightly wrong, which is caused by the tuning issues I think.
Pretty nice Stradivari patch but the vibrato is too mechanical. Saved by not playing any note too long.
Spitfire solo violin is the best
All depends how do you play to sound more realistic. But sound a bit dead to me. . But it’s getting close to the real thing , but if you know strings you know thats pretty much fake legatos are not good, thanks for the review
It seems like he didn't use the modwheel to control dynamics so that is one reason it didn't feel more realistic. With a correct use of the modwheel you can get this sounding pretty realistic
Where can I get this for Free?
I have Cremona Quartet. The Stradivari high notes are amazing and the cello and viola excellent. I didnt liked the low notes of violins.
I clicked because I wanted to check out the case the real violin was in.
Violin+Guitar are the only two instruments that is impossible to ever sound realistic as a plugin, in my opinion.
What about pitch bend and modulation wheel? You dnt have those on fp10?
