I hunted and two hours before the event ends. I try to finish the evolving pokemon challenge and we'll I can't evolve espeon in the afternoon. That's freaking dumb as fuck. Sorry for cursing but cmon.
In my opinion, Johto Tour would’ve been better if it was split into 2 or maybe 3 days. The event was really stressful for me because of how short it was. I missed out on a lot of research and other encounters since I can’t play 12 hours in 1 day. Hell my phone would die before them. But if it was split into a longer period of time, it would have been a lot more fun.
The fomo was real with this one because there was so much packed into one day, where we in the past had two days to do this. It was a lot and the shiny spawn rate seemed really really low compared to other events.
The ability to catch the shiny legendries in the wild makes sense now. I caught two shiny Entei in the wild. Overall the Tour was ok, but I agree with others that it should've at least went across the weekend instead of the short time it was active.

I had a fun time but they should have done it in 2 days like the Kanto Tour was. Getting all of the research, raids, shiny checks was too overwhelming for a 1 day event.
I loved the Johto Tour but to be honest as fun as it was the research bit was too overwhelming for me and many other players in my community. I faced a small glitch where the NPC research stopped after the second stage less than an hour into the event and I was informed by my friends that we could turn off the NPCs IF we completed that research. I had to restart the game and it took so long to complete those challenges that I had no time for evolutions. 21:26 I know I don't need to do all the stuff but when I am paying ₹ 1,050, which is ₹150 over the price paid by players in the USA, I expect to have fun and get all the resources (via raids/collection challenge/research) that I already PAID FOR. But it was a fun event none the less with way less problems than I expected.
While I had fun with friends during the tour and got a decent amount of shiny mons, so I can’t complain in that regard as others have and rightfully so, the research and raid shiny rates was abysmal. Not to mention Unown for our group seemed very scarce. To have paid for a ticketed event and have a featured mon be raid locked and have base 1/450-1/500 odds is unacceptable. I don’t expect CD shiny odds at all, but something at least better than base odds since many people paid for the event.
It's not just the odds for me, it's lack of clarity on them. If Niantic wants to offer base odds, fine, but I wouldn't have spent 30 passes on corsola if I'd known. Also, I didn't finish the Celebi quest on Saturday because my buddy wouldn't earn candy for some glitchy reason. Finished it on Sunday and received a Celebi without Magical Leaf. =/ A longer window on quests and evolutions would have taken some pressure off.

Same. In Kanto I had around 30 shinies, all new to me at the time. Johto got 1 ‘new to me’ shiny and 2 others I’d had loads of already 🙄 Gyarados was a bust and got deleted as I have better ones than research gave me (I was disgusted with it actually. It’s the main reason I haven’t caught my ‘waiting to be caught’ apex Ho-oh... the IVs will be 🤬
I was really excited about this event. It turned into stress with all these things to complete. I even missed out on evolving Espeon during daytime becuase I somehow decided to deal with evolving pokemon later so I could'nt compete all challenges. The battle challenges spawns was really strange and I could'nt complete that either. I went all in with my money and had some fun on raids but over all, I was sad, mad and frustrated about the stress and the things I missed to complete. >:I
I had that problem too about Espeon. I had the time for it but completely forgot about the day time evolution. I had already used the name trick too in the past :-(.

I wish Niantic took the way WAY better approach to the hourly challenges (catch/whatever) by only showing the challenge for that hour when that hour starts. That or at least keep them on the screen/page after they've been rolled out one by one after each hour. Would make that first page way less intimidating + overwhelming. The challenges weren't hard by themselves, but when they were all in your face at the start...
This was my first major event- I bought the ticket and played from home for the first few hours, then spent the next few at a local park. There was a lot to get through, but I enjoyed most of it. The legendaries in the wild was a major highlight, and I really hope they bring this back in some form. The only thing I didn't like were the battle challenges with the trainers. I spent 5 hours searching for these, and only got half of them finished. It was very disappointing.
In the original Pokémon games, black, white, x,y etc... I always had at least one encounter with a legendary wild Pokémon. So it follows there should really be wild legendaries in pogo. The battle trainers task, I only found 1 after hours of searching. I’ve contacted support and told them about that. The only task I couldn’t complete.
I heard Corsola was about a 127/47k shiny rate? Which is the biggest problem I had with this event. The sheer amount of people that didn't get one despite how many raids and money they put in with that huge of a disappointment is really discouraging and a huge let down to the whole player base.
@@rogso6581 I managed 54 shinies, so same. just was a huge let down on the tyrougue and corsola. It's like they released them to the lowest percentage, just to say all johto are shiny, but really wanted to save them to money grab them.

I feel like they should've made it a two day event one day for catching and the following for raids like they did go fest last year. But I think celib should still have magical leaf even if you didn't complete it during the event
I really enjoy Johto Tour and played all 12 hrs. I think these kind of events are what you make of it. Your community, your location, and resources. Always run your own and race and have fun with it! PS glad you had a great get away. Adding Costa Rica to the travel list. All the natural beauty was breathtaking
Happy to see you can do these type of videos again! The tour was fun, but very stressful, if you have a life. I just managed to finish all the tasks, but playing at least 6 hours.

I did enjoy the Johto tour but it was too much to cram into one day. I think two 6 hour days would work better. I finished most of the collections but couldn’t get around to do those 15 trainers I was supposed to battle at PokéStops. There are only 10 PokéStops in my park which I think is a goodly amount but I guess not enough for all those trainers to appear. Next time make it 4trainers. That’s enough

Mann… You were my UA-camr video ‘finale’ of this event, but sad to see you barely participated in it. Oh well, the event was indeed overwhelming. Also, compared to the past special events, shiny rates were a bit down (I catch 30-40 shinies in the 8 hours same way I hunt but this time although event time increased to 12 hours, I caught only 25). As a shiny hunter, this event was exhausting, overwhelming, and wish the 8 hour span was back with better shiny odds.
I just like how you videos always have other content, and not just POGO. How you played this, reminds me that I have a choice of what I would like to focus on in life, and not just playing POGO, but enjoying nature as well.
I didn't get the ticket but still had fun with the spawns and raids. I did a few Corsola raids with no luck, but I'm looking forward to hunting the shiny when I'm in Florida next month! First vacation in years for me :D

Main issue was that there were a lot less people playing Pokemon Go here. Last year there seemed to be people everywhere playing the Kanto event and I found several large groups to walk around with. I also thought it was pretty "cute" of Niantic to switch out the normal incubator box with a smaller box of incubators. Made me wish I had bought more before the event started. Maybe they did it to make more incubators available for FTP trainers on a budget?
Johto tour was fun. I played for about 9 hours was fun going for the shiny corsola with friends even tho we didn’t didn’t get it. Ended the night with 16 shinies. They did pack a lot of tasks into one day they honestly could’ve stretched it out between 2 days. Was fun regardless
Johto tour was very fun and exciting but could definitely have been a two day thing. Wasn’t stressed out like everyone else since I prioritize hatching eggs for shiny babies and my auto-catcher did a lot while I raided.
Yep, kinda agree, should been for two days, and was late because I forgot it was on, also I haven't even found Entei in the wild and couldn't do any Legendary raids because no one in my area are active, so yeah
The first two and half hours of the event, I got zero shinies. It wasn't until after the guaranteed Gyarados that I actually started finding wild ones, so that was really demoralizing. I did get pretty lucky with the ones I got though, which was nice. And I feel like Niantic should really take into account weather and such with their events. It was below freezing the whole day. Luckily my mom is an angel and was willing to drive me around the city park for a few hours because I needed to hatch an Igglybuff for the dex. I didn't do most of the raids, or the trades, or any of the evolutions. I didn't see any of the trainers to be battled, which was good because I didn't want to waste time with any of that anyway. The rocket grunts were annoying enough. And I really don't think they should have tasks like the 'send a friend a gift with a sticker' one so late in the Celebi quest line. I nearly missed out on the special move because none of my friends opened gifts for the majority of the day. Also I feel like the starter we picked should have been another guaranteed shiny because all of the starters have already had com days and so did Gyarados. There wasn't anything as good as last year's Ditto and eventual Mew. I still had fun, but I felt like Kanto Tour was a lot better value for money.
I like that there were things to do all the time. I was able to get the collection challenge done the hour the specific pokemon were out, so by the time they repeated, I was able to relax and catch pokemon. I don't want Niantic to take the feedback of the community that there was too much to do because I'd rather too much than too little.
So much research in one day! I had a great time with friends who I hadn't seen in a while, and that's what PoGo's really all about imo. Otherwise it was a loooot to do in one day especially if you couldn't play all 12 hours straight XD. Great video, I loved the music!
The only thing I wish that would have been different for this event, I really wish it had taken place during the spring. I spent 85% of the event in the car but I still had fun.

I loved the event, but there were too many stuff to do, between collection challenges, special research, battle research, catches, raids and shinies hunting... I managed to complete all the researches, and did my 9+ in-person raids but only got 3 shinies (the first one was at 8:40PM).
I am from Costa Rica and I am very happy to know that you came to my beautiful country to enjoy one of my favorite games, too bad it is not a good place to play the one you decided to visit
Hello Nick! I´m a trainer from La Paz, Bolivia, South America. I´m back to PoGo since almost 3 years of missed content due to... some life stuff events :v and I´m playing around a month or so ago. I used to watch every single one of your videos, they inspired me to keep playing, also your vibes and knowledge about the game are pretty useful. Now that I´m back be sure that I´ll be watching your videos again hey. Speaking about the Johto Tour, I had a really fun and exiting time playing it, even tho there were not that much people playing it because it´s Carnival holiday here and it´s a tradition to get soaked in the streets lol. So yeah, I have played pretty much solo. Communities dissolved to the nearest point of extinction, sadly (well... maybe i haven´t played the game enough) I found only 6 people playing the game, two of the were heading back home and the rest had no raid passes left. I think the event would have been better if it was split into 2 days of 7 hours each, I have not completed some research tasks because there were too much to do and it was a bit overwhelming (missed raids and had 6 passes left unused, collection was impossible to me because i have not spotted Johto tour pass players to trade with, i have not found Spinarak so evolution challenge got stuck, found only 5 shiny Pokemon). I have played around 7+ hours and walked around 20+k, charged my phone once. On the other hand having wild legendary Pokemon was the best part, shiny possibilities, raids every corner, I missed this game. Even with all these "issues" I´ve experienced I had a lot of fun and i loved getting into an event like this one after all that time. I'm sure there's room for improvement and I'm curious on how this can turn. 2895 8595 6409 btw ;)

Sloths! So cool! Also, I agree with a lot of other people in that I wish the event took place over two days instead of just one. I forgot to evolve Espeon during the day and barely saw any of the trainers to battle. I did get two shiny phanpy and a few other shinies, so that was fun.
I caught a shiny Entei in the wild, in my yard… before we even left the house. So trippy. I also hatched a 100% Axew while we were out. That had me gagged. 💖 have fun on your trip!!!

8.5 hours, I went hard.... 2 shinies and they were CD pokemon... nothing off incense. Pretty disappointed with the event. I'm not expecting to get all the shinies, but 2 was ridiculous. Incense, fast catching, walking around, lures... I'm APAC, so who knows if the rates were adjusted later. It just left a sour taste in my mouth for events moving forward. I did Kanto last week all off incense from home with little effort and got about 9 shinies.
You seem to have had much better shiny luck than most people. Most comments I’ve seen have complained of a very underwhelming shiny rate and that was my experience as well. Congrats on the corsola, that’s pretty miraculous you got it because people were saying they did more than 100 with no luck.
The Johto tour was awful for me. All I got shiny-wise was a Gyarados (which I have 6 of), no hundos, no new pokemon, and a bunch of stress of having to complete tasks for minimal gain, or missing out on them completely. I already requested my money back and got a refund for this poorly organized event so I guess since it was free it wasn't too bad.
How did you request a refund, through your pay platform or thru Niantic? I’m amazed they replied so soon if Niantic. You must have had the exact right complaints. I’m wanting refunds for my family’s tickets b/c the gym trainers guys did not work in my city. You’d see them and they literally would slide down and disappear. Also, no new shinies for any of us. A couple old repeats was all. The espeon’s evolution thing got a some of us as well. It’s not a very intuitive thing to check prior to event’s end since they gave extra couple hours, only to find the whole thing is a wash due to not evolving Eevee in daylight. We live in Fairbanks Alaska so we were screwed by about 4pm with that.
@@dazeyday5699 I didn't bother with Niantic, because they either a) would not address the problem, which were extensive (one was Prof Willow would appear and have a one dot text line and would freeze so I would have to restart, which happened 6 times) b) refuse to give me a refund and give me excuses or just gift me a raid pass and say the problem was fixed I complained directly to Apple and stated that what I paid for wasn't legitimately provided to me. I couldn't actively participate with all the glitches, restarts, freezes, etc. I bypassed Niantic altogether, which is the way to do it.
My highlight was a wild shiny Entei. I took the photo & mentally prepared for it to flee, but it seemed that wild shiny legendaries follow similar rules to shiny raid legendaries. Took me six tries to catch that sucker, but I got him. Plus it was the one shiny of the three beasts I didn't have.
I played the entire 12 hours.... and I needed about 10 of them to finish all the timed research. It didn't get above 25F, so I had to mentally convince myself to go play.
I didn't buy a ticket but had a great time--Played from home because I'm autoimmune and there were great remote raids. (Tip: Set your online status to show you're online if you want raid invites! I got a ton of invites that way.) So much to keep up it was almost overwhelming without even purchasing a ticket, so was glad I didn't purchase one. Edited to add: I would've liked for this to be a 2-day event, because I needed more time to catch and grab candy to do some of the evolutions.
I didn't do the event and now I'm kind of regretting it. It's just not the same since I'm playing by myself now. No one wants to play anymore. I'm so glad you're traveling again. I wish I could travel. Also, I really appreciate the music in this video. It's not often that I feel connected to my Hispanic heritage.
Me and the wife enjoyed it and generally had each hour collection done within 30 of the first round, maybe an exception for her on one or two. Hung out and roamed with friends, some whom I hadn't seen in a long time too. The only stressful bit were the kids and helping them find trainers as they overlooked the special research and trainer research, otherwise we all got through everything by the 5pm mark. While there is a lot, most challenges would complete themselves if you catch everything anyway. Espeon was the only real catch out for most of our locals, due to becoming impossible after sunset. Overall, an enjoyable day out, even with the rain.
I do think though that those specific trainers would have been better served as engagement tasks, like the leader was. Tap the button and battle instead of finding the right stop. Didn't mind the battles, just finding them was a pain.
I think the most important thing about Pokemon go is to help you make every day into an adventure. That's what I've enjoyed about Pokemon go as I've been playing recently.
I was literally screaming at Nick to take the picture of that wild Suicune for the legendary photo research. I encountered two of the legendaries as wild encounters and made sure to get the photos of them before trying to catch them. Both legendaries ran but it was the photo that counted.
The aggravating tasks were 1. the battle trainers. I saw my first one after 4 hours of playing. 2. Evolving espeon task , i got bc after 6pm. I evolved at least 20 eevees. All turned into Flareon, jolteon and vaporeon. I gave up completing the tasks soon after that. 3. It was just too much and i stopped enjoying shiny checking because i was trying to do all the different tasks and research.
Did a roughly 8 hours active Johto Tour with a friend. We both shiny checked like crazy (tho she wasted like 30 minutes on cleaning her inventory and catching more than I did). I ended up with 17 shinies + Gyarados. She got 2 (+G and one she already had)... After so much farming and tryharding to complete most of the objectives, we didn't felt like *her* 12 bucks were really worth the sub-community day results. And I felt extra bad since I advertised the event based on my results during Kanto Tour, which were roughly the same. Suffice it to say, between the harsh luck and the numerous tasks, she was extra tired. I myself don't mind so many things to do - as long as it's only once every few months. But maybe that's the "I like hitting my head on walls for hours" disorder that's talking...^^ The remote raid passes were great tho. Having so many means you can concentrate on farming while not missing out on to many raids when your community is not very... structured. Her Legendary collection challenge was completed at the last minute thanks to these (and mine as well, but without the urgency). I know that feeling entitled to getting shinies is childish. But for some of us, 12 bucks is actually a big deal. Having some fail-safes (like that guaranteed Gyarados, which wasn't the best choice but has the merit of existing) would go a long way to ensure further "investments" into these kinds of events. Besides that... I very personally had an absolutely great event. Gym trainers were a bit hard to find sometimes but... that mostly means they weren't in your face every 3 seconds, which is actually a great improvement.
Congrats on catching the shiny Corsola and thank you for all the UA-cam videos that you do!!! I was very disappointed with the Johto event, compared to the Kanto event. It definitely should have been spread out over two days. I was able to play for all twelve hours(8 hours outside and 4 hours at home)...came away with three shinies to show for it(only one new shiny). They made the special trainer pokestops too hard to find(Completed step 9, with 5 minutes left in the event). If the Hoenn Tour is only one day, for the first time, I might not purchase a ticket.
I was disappointed . We were in town for 5 hours and never saw any of the special trainers. 1 section of research had 11 pages and we could not to it because we could not get past page 2.
Hey Nick! Great video as always! I played the whole 12 hours and was missing a suicune snapshot. I was so sad. The event was overwhelming. Like don't forget to do photo bombs for Smeargle! Still enjoyed the event but wished it had been setup differently.

Bruh I had ten legendary beast encounters in the wild and didn't get any shinies (nor from the three research encounters, nor from a few raids 😦)

Base rates were definitely boosted, but not to CD levels.

Johto got 1 ‘new to me’ shiny and 2 others I’d had loads of already 🙄 Gyarados was a bust and got deleted as I have better ones than research gave me (I was disgusted with it actually. It’s the main reason I haven’t caught my ‘waiting to be caught’ apex Ho-oh... the IVs will be 🤬

I was really excited about this event. It turned into stress with all these things to complete. I even missed out on evolving Espeon during daytime becuase I somehow decided to deal with evolving pokemon later so I could'nt compete all challenges. The battle challenges spawns was really strange and I could'nt complete that either. I went all in with my money and had some fun on raids but over all, I was sad, mad and frustrated about the stress and the things I missed to complete. >:I
I had that problem too about Espeon. I had the time for it but completely forgot about the day time evolution. I had already used the name trick too in the past :-(.

I wish Niantic took the way WAY better approach to the hourly challenges (catch/whatever) by only showing the challenge for that hour when that hour starts. That or at least keep them on the screen/page after they've been rolled out one by one after each hour. Would make that first page way less intimidating + overwhelming. The challenges weren't hard by themselves, but when they were all in your face at the start...
This was my first major event- I bought the ticket and played from home for the first few hours, then spent the next few at a local park. There was a lot to get through, but I enjoyed most of it. The legendaries in the wild was a major highlight, and I really hope they bring this back in some form.
The only thing I didn't like were the battle challenges with the trainers. I spent 5 hours searching for these, and only got half of them finished. It was very disappointing.
In the original Pokémon games, black, white, x,y etc... I always had at least one encounter with a legendary wild Pokémon. So it follows there should really be wild legendaries in pogo.
The battle trainers task, I only found 1 after hours of searching. I’ve contacted support and told them about that. The only task I couldn’t complete.

I heard Corsola was about a 127/47k shiny rate? Which is the biggest problem I had with this event. The sheer amount of people that didn't get one despite how many raids and money they put in with that huge of a disappointment is really discouraging and a huge let down to the whole player base.
I managed in 25 raids to pull to corsola
I did 0.0 Corsola raids. Only did legendaries and got 0.0 shinies. But I got like 82 regular shinies

I feel like they should've made it a two day event one day for catching and the following for raids like they did go fest last year. But I think celib should still have magical leaf even if you didn't complete it during the event

I really enjoy Johto Tour and played all 12 hrs. I think these kind of events are what you make of it. Your community, your location, and resources. Always run your own and race and have fun with it! PS glad you had a great get away. Adding Costa Rica to the travel list. All the natural beauty was breathtaking

IMO, the Johto tour could have been a lot better. The amount of tasks at hand seemed like way too much and I didn't get to finish it :(
I enjoyed the event. It was fun. Lots of fun little aspects like wild legendaries that really helped to spice things up.
Really enjoyed the travel aspect of this video... that is the bits of scenery, wildlife, etc.

I did enjoy the Johto tour but it was too much to cram into one day. I think two 6 hour days would work better. I finished most of the collections but couldn’t get around to do those 15 trainers I was supposed to battle at PokéStops. There are only 10 PokéStops in my park which I think is a goodly amount but I guess not enough for all those trainers to appear. Next time make it 4trainers. That’s enough

Mann… You were my UA-camr video ‘finale’ of this event, but sad to see you barely participated in it. Oh well, the event was indeed overwhelming. Also, compared to the past special events, shiny rates were a bit down (I catch 30-40 shinies in the 8 hours same way I hunt but this time although event time increased to 12 hours, I caught only 25). As a shiny hunter, this event was exhausting, overwhelming, and wish the 8 hour span was back with better shiny odds.
I just like how you videos always have other content, and not just POGO. How you played this, reminds me that I have a choice of what I would like to focus on in life, and not just playing POGO, but enjoying nature as well.
I didn't get the ticket but still had fun with the spawns and raids. I did a few Corsola raids with no luck, but I'm looking forward to hunting the shiny when I'm in Florida next month! First vacation in years for me :D

Main issue was that there were a lot less people playing Pokemon Go here. Last year there seemed to be people everywhere playing the Kanto event and I found several large groups to walk around with. I also thought it was pretty "cute" of Niantic to switch out the normal incubator box with a smaller box of incubators. Made me wish I had bought more before the event started. Maybe they did it to make more incubators available for FTP trainers on a budget?

Johto tour was fun. I played for about 9 hours was fun going for the shiny corsola with friends even tho we didn’t didn’t get it. Ended the night with 16 shinies. They did pack a lot of tasks into one day they honestly could’ve stretched it out between 2 days. Was fun regardless

Johto tour was very fun and exciting but could definitely have been a two day thing. Wasn’t stressed out like everyone else since I prioritize hatching eggs for shiny babies and my auto-catcher did a lot while I raided.
Yep, kinda agree, should been for two days, and was late because I forgot it was on, also I haven't even found Entei in the wild and couldn't do any Legendary raids because no one in my area are active, so yeah
My pokeball had issues with connection for about 6 hours during the event, made this very stressful.

The first two and half hours of the event, I got zero shinies. It wasn't until after the guaranteed Gyarados that I actually started finding wild ones, so that was really demoralizing. I did get pretty lucky with the ones I got though, which was nice. And I feel like Niantic should really take into account weather and such with their events. It was below freezing the whole day. Luckily my mom is an angel and was willing to drive me around the city park for a few hours because I needed to hatch an Igglybuff for the dex. I didn't do most of the raids, or the trades, or any of the evolutions. I didn't see any of the trainers to be battled, which was good because I didn't want to waste time with any of that anyway. The rocket grunts were annoying enough. And I really don't think they should have tasks like the 'send a friend a gift with a sticker' one so late in the Celebi quest line. I nearly missed out on the special move because none of my friends opened gifts for the majority of the day. Also I feel like the starter we picked should have been another guaranteed shiny because all of the starters have already had com days and so did Gyarados. There wasn't anything as good as last year's Ditto and eventual Mew. I still had fun, but I felt like Kanto Tour was a lot better value for money.
I like that there were things to do all the time. I was able to get the collection challenge done the hour the specific pokemon were out, so by the time they repeated, I was able to relax and catch pokemon. I don't want Niantic to take the feedback of the community that there was too much to do because I'd rather too much than too little.
So much research in one day! I had a great time with friends who I hadn't seen in a while, and that's what PoGo's really all about imo. Otherwise it was a loooot to do in one day especially if you couldn't play all 12 hours straight XD. Great video, I loved the music!
The only thing I wish that would have been different for this event, I really wish it had taken place during the spring. I spent 85% of the event in the car but I still had fun.

I loved the event, but there were too many stuff to do, between collection challenges, special research, battle research, catches, raids and shinies hunting... I managed to complete all the researches, and did my 9+ in-person raids but only got 3 shinies (the first one was at 8:40PM).
I am from Costa Rica and I am very happy to know that you came to my beautiful country to enjoy one of my favorite games, too bad it is not a good place to play the one you decided to visit

Hello Nick! I´m a trainer from La Paz, Bolivia, South America. I´m back to PoGo since almost 3 years of missed content due to... some life stuff events :v and I´m playing around a month or so ago. I used to watch every single one of your videos, they inspired me to keep playing, also your vibes and knowledge about the game are pretty useful. Now that I´m back be sure that I´ll be watching your videos again hey. Speaking about the Johto Tour, I had a really fun and exiting time playing it, even tho there were not that much people playing it because it´s Carnival holiday here and it´s a tradition to get soaked in the streets lol. So yeah, I have played pretty much solo. Communities dissolved to the nearest point of extinction, sadly (well... maybe i haven´t played the game enough) I found only 6 people playing the game, two of the were heading back home and the rest had no raid passes left. I think the event would have been better if it was split into 2 days of 7 hours each, I have not completed some research tasks because there were too much to do and it was a bit overwhelming (missed raids and had 6 passes left unused, collection was impossible to me because i have not spotted Johto tour pass players to trade with, i have not found Spinarak so evolution challenge got stuck, found only 5 shiny Pokemon). I have played around 7+ hours and walked around 20+k, charged my phone once. On the other hand having wild legendary Pokemon was the best part, shiny possibilities, raids every corner, I missed this game. Even with all these "issues" I´ve experienced I had a lot of fun and i loved getting into an event like this one after all that time. I'm sure there's room for improvement and I'm curious on how this can turn. 2895 8595 6409 btw ;)

Sloths! So cool! Also, I agree with a lot of other people in that I wish the event took place over two days instead of just one. I forgot to evolve Espeon during the day and barely saw any of the trainers to battle. I did get two shiny phanpy and a few other shinies, so that was fun.

8.5 hours, I went hard.... 2 shinies and they were CD pokemon... nothing off incense. Pretty disappointed with the event. I'm not expecting to get all the shinies, but 2 was ridiculous. Incense, fast catching, walking around, lures... I'm APAC, so who knows if the rates were adjusted later. It just left a sour taste in my mouth for events moving forward. I did Kanto last week all off incense from home with little effort and got about 9 shinies.

You seem to have had much better shiny luck than most people. Most comments I’ve seen have complained of a very underwhelming shiny rate and that was my experience as well. Congrats on the corsola, that’s pretty miraculous you got it because people were saying they did more than 100 with no luck.

The Johto tour was awful for me. All I got shiny-wise was a Gyarados (which I have 6 of), no hundos, no new pokemon, and a bunch of stress of having to complete tasks for minimal gain, or missing out on them completely. I already requested my money back and got a refund for this poorly organized event so I guess since it was free it wasn't too bad.
How did you request a refund, through your pay platform or thru Niantic? I’m amazed they replied so soon if Niantic. You must have had the exact right complaints. I’m wanting refunds for my family’s tickets b/c the gym trainers guys did not work in my city. You’d see them and they literally would slide down and disappear. Also, no new shinies for any of us. A couple old repeats was all. The espeon’s evolution thing got a some of us as well. It’s not a very intuitive thing to check prior to event’s end since they gave extra couple hours, only to find the whole thing is a wash due to not evolving Eevee in daylight. We live in Fairbanks Alaska so we were screwed by about 4pm with that.

a) would not address the problem, which were extensive (one was Prof Willow would appear and have a one dot text line and would freeze so I would have to restart, which happened 6 times)
b) refuse to give me a refund and give me excuses or just gift me a raid pass and say the problem was fixed
I complained directly to Apple and stated that what I paid for wasn't legitimately provided to me. I couldn't actively participate with all the glitches, restarts, freezes, etc. I bypassed Niantic altogether, which is the way to do it.

My highlight was a wild shiny Entei. I took the photo & mentally prepared for it to flee, but it seemed that wild shiny legendaries follow similar rules to shiny raid legendaries. Took me six tries to catch that sucker, but I got him. Plus it was the one shiny of the three beasts I didn't have.
I played the entire 12 hours.... and I needed about 10 of them to finish all the timed research. It didn't get above 25F, so I had to mentally convince myself to go play.
You are soooooo lucky to have the Corsola! I did so many raids and no shiny!

I didn't buy a ticket but had a great time--Played from home because I'm autoimmune and there were great remote raids. (Tip: Set your online status to show you're online if you want raid invites! I got a ton of invites that way.) So much to keep up it was almost overwhelming without even purchasing a ticket, so was glad I didn't purchase one. Edited to add: I would've liked for this to be a 2-day event, because I needed more time to catch and grab candy to do some of the evolutions.
I didn't do the event and now I'm kind of regretting it. It's just not the same since I'm playing by myself now. No one wants to play anymore. I'm so glad you're traveling again. I wish I could travel. Also, I really appreciate the music in this video. It's not often that I feel connected to my Hispanic heritage.
Love the casual "I just got a Corsola" like it wasn't the rarest Pokemon of the whole event.

Me and the wife enjoyed it and generally had each hour collection done within 30 of the first round, maybe an exception for her on one or two. Hung out and roamed with friends, some whom I hadn't seen in a long time too.
The only stressful bit were the kids and helping them find trainers as they overlooked the special research and trainer research, otherwise we all got through everything by the 5pm mark.
While there is a lot, most challenges would complete themselves if you catch everything anyway. Espeon was the only real catch out for most of our locals, due to becoming impossible after sunset.
Overall, an enjoyable day out, even with the rain.
I do think though that those specific trainers would have been better served as engagement tasks, like the leader was. Tap the button and battle instead of finding the right stop. Didn't mind the battles, just finding them was a pain.

I think the most important thing about Pokemon go is to help you make every day into an adventure. That's what I've enjoyed about Pokemon go as I've been playing recently.

The way my jaw dropped when you got the corsola shiny. Not a single person in my large local group got a shiny, and we were all raiding them all day!

I was literally screaming at Nick to take the picture of that wild Suicune for the legendary photo research. I encountered two of the legendaries as wild encounters and made sure to get the photos of them before trying to catch them. Both legendaries ran but it was the photo that counted.
I caught all of Pokémon during the Pokémon Johto tour
The aggravating tasks were
1. the battle trainers. I saw my first one after 4 hours of playing.
2. Evolving espeon task , i got bc after 6pm. I evolved at least 20 eevees. All turned into Flareon, jolteon and vaporeon. I gave up completing the tasks soon after that.
3. It was just too much and i stopped enjoying shiny checking because i was trying to do all the different tasks and research.
You needed to put it as your buddy then it was guaranteed with no walking required. Always need it as your buddy for them.
I got a bit overwhelmed but it has been the most fun i've had in years
Did a roughly 8 hours active Johto Tour with a friend. We both shiny checked like crazy (tho she wasted like 30 minutes on cleaning her inventory and catching more than I did). I ended up with 17 shinies + Gyarados. She got 2 (+G and one she already had)... After so much farming and tryharding to complete most of the objectives, we didn't felt like *her* 12 bucks were really worth the sub-community day results. And I felt extra bad since I advertised the event based on my results during Kanto Tour, which were roughly the same.
Suffice it to say, between the harsh luck and the numerous tasks, she was extra tired. I myself don't mind so many things to do - as long as it's only once every few months. But maybe that's the "I like hitting my head on walls for hours" disorder that's talking...^^
The remote raid passes were great tho. Having so many means you can concentrate on farming while not missing out on to many raids when your community is not very... structured. Her Legendary collection challenge was completed at the last minute thanks to these (and mine as well, but without the urgency).
I know that feeling entitled to getting shinies is childish. But for some of us, 12 bucks is actually a big deal. Having some fail-safes (like that guaranteed Gyarados, which wasn't the best choice but has the merit of existing) would go a long way to ensure further "investments" into these kinds of events.
Besides that... I very personally had an absolutely great event. Gym trainers were a bit hard to find sometimes but... that mostly means they weren't in your face every 3 seconds, which is actually a great improvement.

I was very disappointed with the Johto event, compared to the Kanto event.
It definitely should have been spread out over two days. I was able to play for all twelve hours(8 hours outside and 4 hours at home)...came away with three shinies to show for it(only one new shiny). They made the special trainer pokestops too hard to find(Completed step 9, with 5 minutes left in the event). If the Hoenn Tour is only one day, for the first time, I might not purchase a ticket.
I was disappointed . We were in town for 5 hours and never saw any of the special trainers. 1 section of research had 11 pages and we could not to it because we could not get past page 2.
Hey Nick! Great video as always! I played the whole 12 hours and was missing a suicune snapshot. I was so sad. The event was overwhelming. Like don't forget to do photo bombs for Smeargle! Still enjoyed the event but wished it had been setup differently.
