      Last time I went there, they filled my car with oil... And didn't remove the old stuff. I had twice as much oil as I was supposed to have. I was smelling burning oil and I had an oil light. I needed a replacement oil pressure switch.
      Now I just do everything I possibly can on my car myself. I'm doing all the mechanic work and everything. I'm an IT guy, not a mechanic, but now I feel like I can't trust anyone to fix my stuff.
      I'd rather get a tool than pay a tool.

      @@hotpuppy1 I use chain oil change places whenever I need a new engine. Just go to them, have them do an oil change, then go home, drop the oil, run the engine until it seizes. Put the oil back in and sue them. I've changed 3 engines in two vehicles this way. My 06 Ram pick up got a brand new 5.8 Cummins this way back in 2009. And my Hyundai Santa Fe - I've done this twice. Don't use the same oil change chain twice though. Spread it around so they don't detect a pattern.

    Yep. Learned my lesson. Never go to a quick oil change place. They left the oil filter off on my perfect low mileage 2005 Highlander in 2020. I had to threaten to sue them to get them to file the claim with their insurance. I got lucky on the payoff, basically street value. But I could never find another clean car like that for that money so I lost. That's when it's tough to stay civilized. I knew not to go there but got in a hurry.

    Ok, now what? Does an American Chinese car count? Our '17 Buick Envision was built in Shanghai, China, in a GM built plant over there, made with gen-u-wine GM parts that were shipped over there and just put together by Chinese workers. And they did a bang up job of doing it, we have 105 K on the clock right now and have yet to have to fix anything at all on it but for the 5 year gel filled batter and a coupla sets of tires, normal stuff. All oil changes were done on time and the 100.000 mile fluid changes and checkup was done. But, that ole but has to be stuck in here, but I didn't know when we bought it that it was made in China and would probably not have bought it then, but we did, and not gonna sell it for a long, long time with the way I keep cars until they wear out and won't go any further....

    I’m disabled, so I have to pay to have my oil and filter changed. But I take it to one place here in town, because they use real oil! None of that synthetic crap!

    • @BobCarolgees-p8f

      Synthetic oil is far superior to "real " oul

    • @marbleman52
      @marbleman52 12 годин тому

      @Chevelle-g1h...I am 73 and I can understand your wanting to stay with conventional oil, and that is okay with me. But just to let you know, synthetic oil is a better product for your vehicle than conventional: it wears better and protects better under normal conditions, and I will assume that your driving is under that definition of 'normal'.
      So...use conventional oil, but, like any oil...even synthetic oil, have a consistent and regular oil change schedule of no more than about 5,000 miles between oil changes. Paying for oil changes is a lot cheaper than waiting too long before changing oil and having something go wrong with the motor, and then paying thousands of dollars for repair work. It just isn't worth taking the chance. And this is the key to keeping your engine clean and long lasting, and not so much about the conventional versus synthetic debate.

    The big thing they never talk about is how much we’re paying in interest on the debt.
    In fiscal year 2023, federal net interest costs totaled $658 billion
    In other words, we could halt more borrowing and debt would still go up by
    $658 billion per year
