I know I'm a bit late but if it helps. You CAN use a wireless controller BUT your headset can't have a built-in mic. Detachable mics will work as long as the mic is taken off. In a simple explanation. The usb mic and the headset mic both try to record audio but just end up canceling each other out...hope that helps anyone
@@Twizzy_Mario No that won’t work. It’s an internal thing with the headset. The headset and usb mic overlap each other when going though the splitter canceling themselves out. So you NEED a detachable mic headset.
To help anyone one with the annoying buzzing sound instead of using headphones use a speaker that has a 3.5 millimetre jack and plug it in where normally the headphones would go after plugging in the speakers if your in a party your friends voice will come out the speaker

Most of the gear I was able to find that I have laying around the house such as my headphone and mic splitter. (orginally I was using it as part of a Raspberry Pi project.) Though I'd just use a 3.5mm mic and headphones with the mic being on a proper arm for me to use and the headphones as well.

Hmmm thats weird. So this might happen when something isn't fully plugged in or if it is your mic in general that sounds like that. I suggest making sure your mic sounds fine not just plugged into the xbox, and making sure another mic connections is muted!
Youll probably need a turtle beach adapter becuase you might be trying to put in a 3pole aux into the controller which can only take 4pole. The adapter allows you to put in a 3pole and itll convert it to a 4pole for you i think

Hmmm, what controller do you have, and is your Xbox connected to your router? I have had no issues regarding input lag since it has been the same with and without using my mic!
Is their a quality loss with this method? I'm thinking about buying my sons a better microphone than they have with there headsets. But it would be sad if the quality isn't as expected.
Of course it all depends on what type of mic you use, but based off of my experience there isn't a major quality loss besides the lack of customization(EQ, Modes, etc) on your mic if that is possible!

Hi! Have u tried testing to see if the mic works in other games besides warzone? If it’s only in warzone that ur finding these problems, then it might be a setting there you need to fix/change.

nice! have you first tested it out in a game/party to make sure the method works and the mic is working properly? If you have then either something isn't properly plugged in all the way, or your mic isn't getting enough power so you can try plugging it in a different usb port!

The mic I’m using has a bunch of static when you plug the aux chord in I’ve tried two different chords any ideas it works in party chat just so much static it’s unbearable
Hmm thats weird, have you made sure that everything is in the right spot and it is all plugged correctly? Usually this happens when the microphone does not have enough power thus reducing the gain it has which is basically the static. I reccomend trying to change the port that you connect your microphone to for power, or just plug it directly into a wall!

You don't absolutely need headphones, you can just use the splitter and the mic and it will work but i wouldnt know how you would hear your game without headphones unless you use a speaker!

Thanks for the video, very helpful, I just have one issue with my setup. When everything is hooked up correctly there is ringing noise in the background that I and everyone in my party can hear. I don’t think it’s my mic as I plugged my headset into it and could hear myself fine. I also tried my headset in the splitter by itself and I could hear the game audio clearly. The ringing only happens when both are plugged into the splitter. Any help would be appreciated.
What mic and controller are you using? I haven't encountered this problem yet, but have you checked and made sure everything is plugged correctly? Does your headset have a mic, if so make sure the mic on that is muted. Also, just to make sure, are you able to hear yourself and talk using your mic?
@@rachelryan337 I’m using a fifine k670b and Razer Wolverine ultimate controller that has a built in stereo adapter. I actually fixed the ringing issue by making sure the aux cable going from the mic was 2 poles instead of the previous 4 poles, as well as plugging it into a outlet instead of my Xbox for power. After this I had a different issue where no audio would go to my party but when plugged into my iPad everything worked fine. I have fixed this by plugging the splitter with just the mic into a separate controller and the headset into my wolverine. Everything’s working fine now.

I’m running into an error with my setup. Which I’m currently using a Elite 2 Controller, Yeti Blue mic, and a turtle beach headset idk which one it’s like $50 at Walmart. And there’s no audio going thru. Any suggestions?
I just downloaded the Xbox App and ran remote play then I Used a Bluetooth mic from my phone Audio...... I had issues bc I run my Astro Mixamp TR through a 200w DAC. (Dac easily Doubles the Volume level) DAC will not allow Mic audio pass through so hince why I use the App. that way I get audio through the daisey chained Mixamp and Dac and the Mic works through my phone mic Via shareplay. Just and easy fix if someone has a Bluetooth Mic and doesn't want to deal with Microsoft privacy hurdles. This is also a great alternative for individuals using a Series X as the next box doesn't have a Optical output. the only other way I have found is to Extract the audio via a HDMI Audio Extractor which will cause audio lag thus wasn't a viable option for me.

Sorry for the late response, I just tested what you were saying, and can confirm that it works without having a headphone plugged into the splitter. I can’t say if the audio has changed, but the Xbox is definitely picking it up with the setup I’m using. Hopefully this answers your question!

Great question! So I have figured out that you can use the mic without plugging in a headset on the splitter, but I am not %100 sure that it will work with a wireless headset. I'm assuming that the Xbox will only use one input, that of the splitter, so I do not think it will work.
For some reason when I plug my USB Mic into my Xbox itself it doesn’t work. But when I plug it into my laptop it does. When I plug it into my Xbox, I get audio for 4 secs then it turns off. Any advise anyone?

It was doing that when I used the turtle beach controller adapter. Don’t use the adapter, just plug the splitter itself directly into the bottom of the remote
yeah i tried this and it did not seem to work. but i used a windows 10 laptop. and used “xbox game bar” and plugged my usb mic into a free usb port and then adjusted stuff in the settings. that seemed to work for parties at least. and then i just plugged a headphone in to my controller and called it good. hope this helps anyone

Sorry I am not too inclined regarding Xbox streaming but I would assume it would be the same as normal but instead of the headset mic it would be using the USB mic so both the audio would come out!

Sorry I’m not very familiar with that setup, but if you can try to incorporate the splitter with your amp then it might work. The main thing you need is the splitter that is connected to the audio part of your Xbox, or controller in my case .

Oh I see, I am honestly not sure. I think it might work as long as your mic is also getting power through the splitter, but I am not 100% certain.

Thanks for the video dude, i'm just having an issue with a ringing noise that's coming from the headsets, i have the astro A50 and the wolverine ultimate controller, so when i plug in the head splitter into my controller and the headphone input to the A50 base, there is a loud ringing noise that's coming from the headsets, ¿do you think that the problem is coming from the controller or is it the headset base that is causing it?

Not every usb mic has a 3.5 mm input. I have karaoke mics from Xbox 360. Can I use them on my Xbox one x?

I’m running into an error with my setup. Which I’m currently using a Elite 2 Controller, Yeti Blue mic, and a turtle beach headset idk which one it’s like $50 at Walmart. And there’s no audio going thru. Any suggestions?

I just downloaded the Xbox App and ran remote play then I Used a Bluetooth mic from my phone Audio...... I had issues bc I run my Astro Mixamp TR through a 200w DAC. (Dac easily Doubles the Volume level) DAC will not allow Mic audio pass through so hince why I use the App. that way I get audio through the daisey chained Mixamp and Dac and the Mic works through my phone mic Via shareplay. Just and easy fix if someone has a Bluetooth Mic and doesn't want to deal with Microsoft privacy hurdles. This is also a great alternative for individuals using a Series X as the next box doesn't have a Optical output. the only other way I have found is to Extract the audio via a HDMI Audio Extractor which will cause audio lag thus wasn't a viable option for me.
I bought the exact splitter and I even tried with and without the controller plugged in and it doesn’t work
I have the razor siren X and it won’t work, plugged everything in and my controller is plugged into my Xbox it still doesn’t work, I would appreciate any tips

Sorry for the late response, I just tested what you were saying, and can confirm that it works without having a headphone plugged into the splitter. I can’t say if the audio has changed, but the Xbox is definitely picking it up with the setup I’m using. Hopefully this answers your question!

Hey your video seems super helpful I’m just waiting for my hyper x mic to get here it’s a usb mic, but I was wondering when I buy the splitter and only plug the mic in with the mic side and put the 3.5mm into my controller will it work like that? Because my headset is wireless and is connected to my Xbox via usb so when I’m streaming everything is from my headset and I won’t be able to use the headset side of the splitter.
Great question! So I have figured out that you can use the mic without plugging in a headset on the splitter, but I am not %100 sure that it will work with a wireless headset. I'm assuming that the Xbox will only use one input, that of the splitter, so I do not think it will work.

If you plug in a mic and then use a wireless headset it’ll either choose one or the other or will cancel out

For some reason when I plug my USB Mic into my Xbox itself it doesn’t work. But when I plug it into my laptop it does. When I plug it into my Xbox, I get audio for 4 secs then it turns off. Any advise anyone?
i tried how you did it except with wireless controller and i couldn’t get the usb mic to work i was using the hyperx quadcast i did ever step and re did every stick to see if i did something wrong and nope wouldn’t work

It was doing that when I used the turtle beach controller adapter. Don’t use the adapter, just plug the splitter itself directly into the bottom of the remote
But what if you do have a headset with a mic, but you can mute it, does that work?
yeah i tried this and it did not seem to work. but i used a windows 10 laptop. and used “xbox game bar” and plugged my usb mic into a free usb port and then adjusted stuff in the settings. that seemed to work for parties at least. and then i just plugged a headphone in to my controller and called it good. hope this helps anyone
This setup that you use in this video, how does this translate when it comes to streaming? Can you still have your audio, from both games and your voice come out?
Sorry I am not too inclined regarding Xbox streaming but I would assume it would be the same as normal but instead of the headset mic it would be using the USB mic so both the audio would come out!
This question might seem weird but I own a sound blast g6 amp and the sound works through xbox series x but not audio only on PS4 I was wondering how can I bypass that and use a mic for in game chat while using the audio from the sound blast g6 amp?
Sorry I’m not very familiar with that setup, but if you can try to incorporate the splitter with your amp then it might work. The main thing you need is the splitter that is connected to the audio part of your Xbox, or controller in my case .
This also does not work with game chat. I'm playing MW2 and it does not recognize that I have a mic. Party chat works but no game chat. Really

do you have a wireless or wired controller? Also have you checked and made sure that your mic is working on another device, and just not on the xbox?
