Hi Steven!! Always a pleasure to get a notification from your channel 😀 I've tried to do this with peeling paint and didn't "draw a line". I ended up having a right mess in the end! Wish I'd seen your video first. I wondered if you'd be able to give advice? I'm in the Highlands of Scotland, very cold and damp up here. There are patches in the wood around door frames which have gone very soft. Is there any way of re-hardening the wood without having to remove the whole frame? I've tried a dehumidifier but it hasn't worked. Any guidance would be much appreciated. Take care. Sandym 💖
Hi Sandy M. Thankyou very much for your kind comment and your support. I cant see the condition of your frames so i can't say this will definitely work, you can try this it might help. Ronseal Wet Rot Wood Hardener. amzn.to/3KJMkFk
@@AlfGuitar How did you get on with this job? I'm in the same boat with very aged skirting boards on our stairs (wood old, house built in 1905) & some chipping & flaking, I have sanded back thoroughly & was wondering to use Zinsser Peel Stop then gloss undercoat then gloss topcoat?
Love the peel stop mate much better than the old way of stabilizer
I only discovered it about 2 years ago, its great stuff.
You're great! Thanks for all you do. I'll take your skills on board and do my best for customers. I'll buy you a drink anytime! Somerset Handyman Ken.
Thankyou for the kind comment my freind, I don't drink alcohol lol, you can by me a coffee, the link is in the description lol.
What did you spot prime it with?
The zinsser peelstop.
I have a ton of pva glue which needs to be used soon. Could I apply that instead of the "stop" whatever it is around the border ?
Not really.

@@Inexteriors Thank you 😊 I'll be in B&Q 8n the next few weeks and I'll give it a try.👍
When you give a coat of emulsion is this misting? I hear people say give a mist coat first but you give one layer of emulsion.
its mist coating when you are painting bare plaster, i used peel stop to touch up the bit of bare plaster, hope that makes sense
What product would you use on peeling gloss paint? Got some woodwork I want to sort out, it’s flaking off, what product would you recommend?
Apparently you can use the peelstop on the woodwork, i haven't yet, give it a scrap and sand first, let me know how you get on.
@@Inexteriors I’ll let you know when I start the job, cheers mate
@@AlfGuitar No probs at all bud.
