    You're simply awesome!!! You're teachings are very easy to understand.. Since the pandemic started I found peace and enjoyment with having plants. They definitely helps me with daily stress levels from multiple sclerosis. I've just learned how to make a moss pole from your video and working my way to transition all my plants to leca. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with everyone alike. You're truly a blessing!!

    Hi Nora, I've been so overwhelmed with all the information out there about going semi hydro. My head was spinning and I was getting a bit discouraged. Then I found your video and omg, thank you!! You've simplified everything there is to know and also convinced me that I don't need a ton of stuff to get started! I can't wait to get started :)

    You have been so helpful. Thank you. I am just starting my journey into semi-hydroponics. My first successful plant was an alocasia. I am now on my third one and ready to attempt a small hoya.
    Leca has been the most successful for me thus far. I live in a rural area where our water is very hard so I tend to use distilled water especially for my calatheas and marantas. I do add a water conditioner Marphyl with every bottle. About 2 caps. I think that I will have to start testing my water for pH levels and adding accordingly.

    I am so excited to learn and do. I live in an area where my plants do great on my sun porch during spring and summer, but when the weather turns cool/cold, I have to bring them in the house and put them under grow lights and pray they make it thru the winter. I would love to know they will be just fine with the nutrients. I have known about hydroponics for a very long time and even given lessons to my fellow master gardeners, but the pumps, etc are a lot of work and not always feasible.

    I love your channel, very informative. I do have one question, how often do you change your nutrition solution sitting in your cache pot ? Right now I'm usually change the solution every 3-4 weeks and use that to water my other plants in soil.

    • @TheLecaQueen
      @TheLecaQueen  2 роки тому +3

      Thank you for your kind words and for watching and subscribing, much appreciated! I try to change my nutrient solution at least once a month. It really depends on what I have going on in my life and how busy I am. This is why I love semi hydro, I control what I do. As long as there is some solution the plant will not die. I make plant care work with my life and try not to be a slave to plant schedules.

    Love watching and learning from your videos. I’ve just started the LECA journey, and so far it has been trial and error. I’ve slowly been sourcing my semi hydro tools online (I’m regional WA and so limited for choice when it comes to purchasing certain items) in order to transfer my house plants from soil to LECA by watching your videos. I’ve had one fail unfortunately (a small spider plant), but will persist. I would be interested to know where you purchase from. I note you’re in Melbourne so you’d be more spoilt for choice but it would be great if you were able to share where you shop from for your plant care requirements. I go to one online website and can only hope that the products sourced are high quality. Keep up the good work 😊

    Hi
    Where I live, there is very little fertilizer for hydroponics, I want to make the nutrient solution myself, and I have read J. Benton Jones' hydroponic book to some extent, but the main formula of the nutrient solutions in the book is for edible plants, not house plants, what You suggest a combination of nutrients?, for example, say how much nitrogen, how much phosphorus, etc. up to all elements needed by plants (especially for houseplants). Thankful.

    Hey there!
    Firstly, great video I am very excited to try out this method! However, I have a question regarding the ph. So the other day I saw this video where a guy said that if you use Leca, the plants will grow amazingly but only in the beginning. According to him the plants will start to die because the leca changes the ph level (I don’t remember if it goes up or down). He said to prevent that you have to boil the leca and keep it moist and it’s apparently a very long process which you have to repeat once in a while. I am very confused now. Does the leca itself change the ph level or not? Do I really have to boil it and will my plants die otherwise in few years ? Hope to get an answer!! 😊

    • @TheLecaQueen
      @TheLecaQueen  2 роки тому +2

      Hello Katha, there definitely seems to be something lost in translation there. Leca is inert, we have to have the plants in a reservoir to provide nutrition. That solution needs to have a specific pH range. This pH is good when we put fresh nutrient solution in the reservoir but changes over time as the plant uses the water and nutrients, hence it needs to be changed regularly, maybe once in 2 weeks or even longer. Don't let that scare you. Leca is reusable. You will need to sterilize leca that has been used to make sure you are not introducing bacteria or other nasties to your new plant. This is a very easy process and boiling is not the only leca sterilization method.
      I recommend watching the following videos and my Q &As to get a better understanding of how you can get leca to work for you.

    • @TheLecaQueen
      @TheLecaQueen  2 роки тому

      I don't like the use of the word only. It is directed for foliage plants but can be used for other plants. Growth Technology make other specific nutrients like vegetable focus,flower focus and soon that have the specific mineral needs that these type of plants require.
