I can't believe I found a batch 7 cask strength 200 years edition. This small liquor store had one priced the same at the standard price. I paid 55 dollars for this today . Wow is right I love this stuff. Out of this world scotch. The only problem is it is like 90 degrees here in LA. I felt like it was my birthday.
I agree on the cask strength over the regular 10 for 20 bucks more you get a better and longer lasting bottle of scotch . You guys should try the Ardbeg Uigeadail its a nice step up from the normal Ardbeg 10 like the CS Laphroaig is over the 10. Great review guys
Well about that Uigeadail.....you see we had a bottle and the damn thing didn't last long enough to get a review on it....LMAO!! Indeed, we'll get another, but there's just sooooo damn many scotches that are out there to try! :-) Stay tuned.
I know this is an older comment but i just picked up and tried the laphroaig 10 cask strength, totally agree about the ardbeg uigeadail comparison. That extra proof really gives some tasty "OOMPH" to these islay scotches, next up on the list to try is lagavulin at higher proof methinks
Just picked this up and wow.....it might be a new favorite! Well not for every occasion, but it knocks the socks off almost anything else I own. Thinking Uigeadail is the closest to it, but the sherry sweetness on that mellows it just enough to lose to the 10 CS. Bravo Laphroaig!

Yes that is a monster dram. Nice job guys. During the fall winter months I will always have a laphroiag bottle open. This one and the 18 yo are my favorites.
TWE ran out of the Laphroaig 18 last week and just got a new order in today. They also told me that the Talisker 18 order will be in next week. Getting a bottle of each, can't beat the p;rice.
Picked up a bottle this morning and put on your review and enjoyed it with you guys. Love it neat. With water there was a lot of black licorice on palet. This will be a good one over their cold Minnesota winter. Cheers guys
Tried another Blending of Irish Single Pot Still Whiskey with an Islay Peated Malt; Here are my impressions. I would love to here others results as well. SLÁINTE!! REDBREAST 12 Irish Single Pot Still Whiskey Blended with LAPHROAIG Quarter Cask 2/25/17 I added about 1/2 Teaspoon of the Quarter Cask to 1/2 a tasting Snifter of the RedBreast and let it sit for a good hour to blend. COLOR: Dark Gold with legs running modestly. NOSE: Raisin notes are on top with smokey undertones and hints of Caramel. PALETTE: Mild Sweet Arrival, a Rich Mouth Feel; Peat Smoke rising and mixing nicely with the raisin. Pepper from the un-malted Barley rises as I swirl it around; never losing the subtle sweetness. FINISH: Pleasant Pepper rising from my tongue and throat with a mild sweet note I remember from the LAPHROAIG. I wanted to see how REDBREAST 12 with its Sherry cask aging and un-malted barley spiciness would blend with LAPHROAIG Peat Smoke. I enjoyed the result. The raisin notes withstood the Peat Smoke which surrounded but did not kill them and the Spiciness of the un-malted barley lingered in the finish. I enjoyed the raisin notes of the REDBREAST mixing with the Peat although I was hoping for more of the sweet notes of the REDBREAST to shine through. Maybe a little less of the LAPHROAIG next time. I would love to hear others results; give it a shot. This was inspired by Ralfy’s blending of JAMESON’S Gold Reserve and ARDBEG 10. Sláinte!! Mike
Glad you skipped over the standard 10 yr and went to 10 yr cask strength. I'm skipping over both of these and getting the Laphroaig 18 yr for $112 at "TWE". They ran out last week and just got a new order today. Great point how the water can change the profile of the scotch, gotta try though especially with an Abv of 55% or with any Islay in my opinion. Isn't it great how an Islay taste is so chewy and just lingers on. This is why I am trying more Islay's and Isand's. Another one I am waiting for 'TWE" to get back in stock is the Talisker 18, although from Isand, it does have peat. Glad you guys are enjoying the peated scotches. So many to try. Great video.

Lp18, more refined, tamed, but also more complex and smooth than 10, Quarter Cask & sorts. A very decent whisky, but not stellar imho. It does profit from 48% abv, though. Very affordable in Germany until about 2 years ago (65,-EUR) and certainly well worth its money, similar to Highland Park 18. Is it worth roughly double the money? Not in my book, but who am I to judge - perhaps I was just spoiled. ;-)

This 10- year Cask - Sherbet, cotton candy, bubble gum....once those notes were described to me.....yep, they're there - wow!, the sweetness is so perfectly balanced with the smokey, peety iodine - No problem holding the water with this one - Hey guys - can't wait for you to share your thoughts on the 2016 Lagavulin Distillers Edition if you get the chance - Thank you!
The cask strength here online (batch 13 and 14) around 111 euro. But in shops in Belgium it's really a disaster now. It's 155euro for the batch 14. I payed 150 for 1 bottle off the batch 14 in the shop and 111 off a batch 13 online. (Had to wait for it a couple off days) I have to say the batch 13 is somewhat better. And actually I wish I had the patience to wait for the batch 13 then I bought 2 bottles. But then I would also wonder how's batch 14 taste like. So yeah I'm still happy actually.
It's getting hard to find this over here in the UK. Not sure if they're slowing down on the production of it. Seeing some crazy prices like £199 for bottle which is a joke.
I was getting this for $65 until the tariffs kicked in. The regular 10 was going for $50 and so for only $15 more on the cask strength, it was a no brainer for me. But now post tariff, the regular 10 is $65 by me and the cask strength is $80. Curious to see if those single malt prices come back down since the tariffs have been removed, or will the distributors decide to use the tariffs as an excuse to keep the prices elevated (maybe people kept buying their scotch at higher prices).
I just had to watch this review after watching the good review on the disappointing Laphroaig Select. I just wanted to end the night on a good Laphroaig note! I also have the Jan 15 007 bottle of the cask strength, so it was fun to watch and sip this slightly sweet super peat punch. It is not surprising how this review went, because so far I have not met many scotches that are not better at cask strength. Anyway, great job as usual, Cheers!
Laphroaig 10 year cask strength is an absolutely unbelievable scotch. (I have not tried the standard 10 year.) I agree that it is better neat. I hate to make people jealous but I can get it for $51 at my local liquor store in Kansas. Which is good...because it does not last. :-)
So you want comment, eh? Alright. First off, thanks for the great review! LP 10 CS - Check! ;-) Had my reasons for strongly recommending this boy, but it's probably good you did not go for it at once for it's surely an acquired taste that benefits from a certain amount of experience with other Scotches. I find batch 007 to be quite fruity, a bit zesty and - you mentioned it - not too much iodine in it. Same with batch 008 reg. iodine, but the latter is less fruity, more ashy and even more "straight to the core" regarding the house stlye of Laphroaig, if I may say so. Hopefully you'll get batch 008, too - a comparison is very interesting! Other than that it's important to note that I've never had a 10 CS that tasted like the normal 10, only stronger. So they definitely take other - imho better quality - casks to vat their limited 10 CS releases. If you ever contemplate getting the (at least in Europe) much more expensive FOL Cairdeas bottling, don't bother for the last three releases as they are not better, just a tad different (--> wood finishes) than the CS.

Can't disagree...our biggest problem with that bottle is it didn't last long enough to get a review on it! LOL, it's on the list, but just so many other bottles to choose from that it all comes down to $$ and timing. We'll get a review on it sooner or later...hopefully sooner!

That is a tough question. It gets hard to pick something that won't scare them away. If you aren't too concerned about price, the Benriach 17 yr Solstice was wonderful. It is a peated scotch finished in port pipes so it has sweet notes to balance the stronger flavors. I started out with ice on my peated scotch to help make it a bit softer plus the water slowly dilutes the flavors. It's not how I would do it now, but everyone starts somewhere. - Shawn

I saw CS batch 007 on the shelf at my local Spec's about a week ago, there were like 10 + bottles left. I told myself "meh...I'll pick it up next time." Forward a week later, today, I walked down to the Laphroaig shelf and saw all the CS 007 was gone...GONE!! I have under estimated its popularity. I guess I'll have to wait for batch 008 to come to Texas to try it T_T
@@Scotch4Dummies It's a tough one Mark.. I really enjoyed this, I'm halfway through it, and let me tell you, that's truly as smooth as the Lag 16.. It doesn't have that long smokey finish like Lag 16, but for $50 a bottle, this is a great substitute and I would highly recommend it to anyone that loves Islay scotches with a good peted smoked finish.. Cheers.. :)
Sitting here with a Lagavulin 2017 cask strength wishing I had this Laphroiag doing a side by side. I fear the Laphroiag has moved through the area and off the selfs. Crossing my fingers I can find it again. I went through 2 bottles and liked it very much once my virgin scotch buds got "seasoned". This Lagavulin 12 year is very impressive, not so much of the band aide smell but that's ok. The extra 13.5 % abv is perfect.

Sitting here with a Lagavulin 2017 cask strength wishing I had this Laphroiag doing a side by side. I fear the Laphroiag has moved through the area and off the selfs. Crossing my fingers I can find it again. I went through 2 bottles and liked it very much once my virgin scotch buds got "seasoned". This Lagavulin 12 year is very impressive, not so much of the band aide smell but that's ok. The extra 13.5 % abv is perfect.

No, they do have good $$s for sure...but it really only pays off when you buy 3-4 bottles to make the S&H costs per bottle affordable...

guys , fine real worked out whisky is not like that , you all know, you are going too extreme, wisky is a great balance of that flavor and others no so much in your face,
