  • Hey guys, I'm starting up some mid-week gameplay videos. Since 3s and defensive angles were requested, I thought we'd start with emphasizing that.
    I think my playstyle would work really well for most players, since it's less focused on mechanics and more focused on positioning, so it should help you rank up... As always, if you have any questions, just fire away! I'm always down to discuss.
    Thanks for watching!

      It's been amazing working with the team! We're definitely getting better and I was extremely happy with the performances too.
      Also, just a shoutout to RawGreg, whose the head coach and my long-time friend. He's an incredible coach! He makes it easy for me to come in and work on some tactical stuff.

    Been watching since 2016. Love your content, Kev. Was nice hearing you mentioned in Retals’ latest video. Finally somebody taking advantage of your big RL brain!
    P.S. We all hate your camera settings and it’s really hard to watch but we push through. ❤️😂

    I think it needs to be said, because it could be that inexperienced players would look at this game play and think that you’re not playing well or not doing much, but the fact that you are well positioned AND not interfering with your teammates is what makes this a good example of supporting gameplay.

    I only play 2s so watching 3s felt sooooo weird. But it’s crazy how enlightening your commentating is, I never thought about ‘opponent turned away from the ball=ground play’ or positioning sideways as last man, or anticipating moving away from the ball if two players are eventually going to fifty a ball in the air

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  Рік тому +2

      I think 3s just has more potential for 50s, losing them backwards, that sort of thing. If you really want to get good at 2s or 3s, I'd recommend watching M0nkeyM00n. He really is the master of this style of positioning, but of course, his mechanics are waaay better than mine. But he's an example of a player that kind of reigns in his mechanics to play more defensive, and control the game.
      I probably watched over 150 replays of his over the last couple years, just studying his movements. It helps!

    When I play 3rd as deep as you do I find myself making a lot of bad decisions about when to challenge (or not challenge), so this will be a useful template for trying to fix that

    Amazing! Yes I love these “niche” or esoteric rocket league concepts like demos & more off-hand topcis when second man cuts in for third man if second man is closer to the ball for a challenge, stuff like that. You’ve been very analytical with your videos so in turn, i Have been more analytical, leading to a better experience! Thanks Kevpert

    I think you shouldn't change the camera view, it's unique and special that you are different, it's like a theme of your content, an idea with maybe little different goals. It also resonates with who you are, a person who wants to have his own style. Striving for perfection is not feasable. Plenty of videos on yt with usual camera settings if it's that big of a problem for some people but I believe that if you aren't too stubborn you shouldn't have any problem getting used to your camera.
    I think the main point about camera settings is that 99.9% of people should be using the normal ones and noone knows for sure if they are suited for something else until they become as good and experienced as you. Being an ssl, you have free pass to rock whatever you want and thrive because you know very well what you are doing. You aren't aiming for RLCS pro right?

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  Рік тому +1

      Sometimes I second guess myself, so it's appreciated to hear you echo my thoughts. Nope, not aiming for pro, that ship has long sailed. But I want to see where I can get in ranked 1s and 2s. I just love playing the game at the end of the day.

    Im impressed with how good the octane looks in the thumbnail - the perspective looks on point! How did you make it? If that was drawn in ms paint with a mouse, that's insane!

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  Рік тому +2

      Oh is my thumbnail game improving? 🤔
      I just do it manually in gimp, tracing over a screenshot from replays. Tons of layers to get it looking right, though.

    I'm glad that you're back and I love your videos, but I gotta agree with the other comments here about your camera settings...it's pretty hard to watch your gameplay as a viewer. I don't watch full screen usually so that I can switch tabs and such easily, so it's pretty hard to see your car. And I'm sure zooming the camera in would help you make better touches, that's why pretty much every pro uses the camera settings that they do. Anyways, keep up the good work. People have been waiting for your return for a long time!

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  Рік тому +2

      I don't really know what you want me to do, though. If I change the settings, I can't play. This is me and I can't apologize for that, hope you understand.
      Maybe you can use it as a different perspective. You don't have to emulate me, but the training methods + principles of play are the same. It's like watching replays from a birds eye view. You'll see something different, and something might click for you in your own gameplay.

      @@Kevpert Hey, what's up! I wonder if it's possible to record viewing replays in different camera settings using bakkesmod? that's a whole lot of work, not sure if it's worth it, but maybe an option if you keep getting complaints

    • @ToastandBananas
      @ToastandBananas Рік тому

      @@Kevpert Oh no apologies needed! I bet you'd get used to normal settings quite quickly though, especially since you used to use them. But you do you, I'm just letting you know that although it's not unbearable to watch or anything like that, it is a bit hard on the eyes and could effect video retention.

    • @TheBladeIsMe53
      @TheBladeIsMe53 Рік тому +3

      Its for me the opposite though, through his perspective I can see way more than I usually would and I focus more on Gamesense and Rotation and Map Awareness instead of pure Mechanics. So I think your Camera Settings is good kevpert especially for UA-cam.

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  Рік тому

      @ShoopRL What's up! I actually have a bakkesmod plugin (so I could shadow pro replays), but I always preferred in-game recording over replays. It's an option I'll look at in the future if need be. Maybe for analysis type stuff, like a positioning tutorial.

    hello kevpert,
    can you do a video in 2s?
    im low ssl (1900 - 2kish) and i feel like playing 2nd man is especially hard compared to 3s, would like some insight on that.

    • @Kevpert
      @Kevpert  Рік тому

      Sure thing. I'll grind 2s first, I'm at low 1800s and I know I can hit SSL soon. Once there, it'd probably be a better showcase of playing 2nd man and defending.
