i just finished szarekh and his two little fellas. sadly before i could glue them to the throne szarekhs arm holding the scepter broke off between elbow and hand and repairing that created a tiny crease in his forarm. Thanks to your guide i had pretty much no problem repairing the damage and only a teeny tiny blemish is visible when taking a closer look
I was just following along on your first video (2nd watch, but I just built the fellow), and this just popped up! Beautiful, beautiful work. I’ve never been able to follow the complicated tutorials, and the simplistic schemes never quite did it for me, but this is the best demonstration I have found. Your videos are excellent, and I greatly appreciate your work!
Awesome model and awesome paint job! Can't wait to have a go at this guy myself. I think I might spice things up a bit and go for a fluorescent purple/pink instead of green for the energy thingies.
This guide was awesome and just managed to finish my silent king as well. The only thing I’d recommend is possibly having a camera shot off to the side after you’ve said what you’re painting and why, so you can capture the entire painting process. Sometimes it is hard to figure out where exactly to be painting things sometimes. Still, I really really appreciate these guides!!
This looks unbelievably awesome. Been following along with the first video and it’s been a massive help. One thing I’ve noticed though; the Szarekh on the box art is a little more silverish than golden unlike this video. Still, enjoyed it and I’ll definitely take it into account during the project.
give Basilicanum Grey a shot for washes. Its not as dark as nuln. I think you were achieving similar by applying nuln oil lightly. BG goes on excellent on metallics
Great tutorial! Just found your channel and really like the way you explain the processes. The necron blade one is someting I really want tryout someday. Just a question on building the two necron nobles, do you have any hints on how assemble the arm that is touching the rails without it ending up in the wrong position (higher, lower,.with the hand not touching the rail, etc...)?
Just take your time and enjoy it - it's straight forward enough if you break it down into chunks. Looking back building it was the most challenging part!
at 5:55 you say the Runelord Brass paint is a nightmare, are you referring to the older layer paint version or are they both nightmares, the layer and the newer base paint?
@@ThePaintingCoach really what are those? im considering purchasing it and id like to know? im building an online cart at a hobby shop i shop at. I noticed that Warhammer released these new paints for Necrons, Runelord, Canoptek, Tesseract, Armour shade gloss, Necron compound, but in a lot of the warhammer produced videos they use the old method of spraying the models with leadbelcher. I personally love your way of painting them with balthasar gold or brass scorpion. The gloss shade makes them look dirty like they were smoking crack. Actually all shades applied to an entire model make them go from looking like a million bucks to a model that looks like it's been smoking crack. Applying shade should only be done to the panel lines, so a pin wash.
I find that the latest paints GW released struggle with some consistency issues - so even after thinning the coverage is awful and the paint feels a bit too thick
I’m following along right now with your tutorial on Szarekh. I shaded the Balthazar gold in the joints and skeleton, but I can’t seem to find in the video when to shade the exoskeleton (thighs, chest, crown, face, etc). I just finished hi-lighting the crown and joints with runelord brass. Do I shade the rest of him after or before liberator gold? Nuln oil or Agrax earthshade? Great video so far!
Really love your videos and the tips you give! I use primarily Citadel paints....What Citadel paint would be a good substitute for the Chrome (model air) colour?
Your tutorials are so easy to follow along with, thank you! Do you have any plans to do a tutorial on custodian guards? I know a lot of people that find it awkward to paint them due to the armor being 99% gold.
also i see you use the Canoptek Alloy, it's very hard to discern a difference between the Runelord and Canoptek? is there a difference? should i purchase the canoptek?
So I painted my first imperial fist today base coated in wraith bone and then used averland sunset but they came out looking really orange more then anything that usual?
That's a strange one - was the paint well mixed? I only ask as I know my Averland has gone a little orangey now too (although I have had mine for years!)
Hmm might be a slightly darker batch of paint? If it is too dark and affecting the next layer, you could try starting with yriel yellow over wraithbone instead
Ty for the video. In my attempt I was a bit upset I painted Szarekhs blade first. It was only after I started painting the Praetorian's blades did I discover the right amount of paint on the brush to touch the engravings without ruining the rest of the sword. Blown away by how good it looks, definetly the best Silent King model i've seen. Good work!
Cheers Ducky - I appreciate that!
For real. This is it!
Cheers!

Thank you Yasha that means a lot! I'm glad you enjoy them!
Thanks for this. Was an intimidating project and your videos made it doable
That's awesome! Thanks for letting me know!
Awesome guide, gonna use that Akhelian Green mix for the body of the Void Dragon.
Awesome me too haha! Glad you enjoyed it
Glueing the guards feeling that pain currently
Awesome model and awesome paint job! Can't wait to have a go at this guy myself. I think I might spice things up a bit and go for a fluorescent purple/pink instead of green for the energy thingies.
Thanks - sounds good - look forward to seeing it!
Awesome guide so easy to follow and such a great paint scheme your tutorials are the best 👍👍
Thanks Matthew - I appreciate it!
Hey just started watching but that Cloak! That’s some amazing color! Can’t wait to see how you did it!
Cheers man! It's pretty easy :)

Thanks for the comment and thr feedback - I'll try and give more info in the future!
Class as usual sir
Thanks Colin - I apprecuate it!
By the gods, your paint job is just gorgeous dude. I gotta have a crack at the Silent King myself
And I don't even play Necrons...
Haha thank you so much - I really appreciate it!
Really good, as always!
Cheers Chris!
Excellent work 😎👍🏻
Cheers mate!

Thanks Ben - you could add some bright silver into the liberator to get that effect
That’s an excellent idea! I’ll look into different mixes and different paints. I’m thinking a tad bit of Stormhost Silver?
Yeah if that's what you have - you'll probably only need a little to kick it over

Thanks for the tip - I'm not a huge fan of BG - perhaps I got a bad pot but mine just doesn't seem great quality 🤔

I don't I'm afraid - it's just trial and error as they are awful minis to build - sorry!
im painting along with this video today
Awesome - hope it goes well!
Me too
I'm picking this guy up on Saturday. Ordered him because I felt way overconfident after my Void Dragon. Hope I didn't get myself in too much trouble.

at 5:55 you say the Runelord Brass paint is a nightmare, are you referring to the older layer paint version or are they both nightmares, the layer and the newer base paint?
That will be the older layer paint - although the newer one does have its issues!

Off the top of my head I don't think I shaded it, to keep the liberator gold really bright 👍🏻
You are a inspiration
Thank you very much- that's very kind!

Thanks David - I appreciate it! Stormhost silver is what you need!

Thanks for the comment and kind words - yes I'm sure I'll get round to them eventually!
what color would you use to edge highlight those cracks on the menhirs?
You can either highlight with a bright silver before adding the contrast paint or use something like temple guard blue afterwards
Do you prime black BEFORE spraying with leadbeltcher? I have seen mixed messages on doing this.
Yes i do - make sure your coats are thin though!
also i see you use the Canoptek Alloy, it's very hard to discern a difference between the Runelord and Canoptek? is there a difference? should i purchase the canoptek?
The Canoptek is brighter - so works as a highlight - try mixing some silver into the runelord instead 👍🏻
what brokentoad brushes do you use?, excellent work btw, watch and use all your necron and salamander videos
Thanks Dean! I use the minuature series mk 3 - although I'm going back to my W&N series 7 pretty soon
What do you recommend priming these guys with, Leadbelcher, or Rune Lord Brass?
Leadbelcher for me
@@ThePaintingCoach do you just enjoy painting warhammer or do you dabble in other genres? i know you did a bolt action figure before.
Mainly warhammer - but i just enjoy cool models :)

Hmm might be a slightly darker batch of paint? If it is too dark and affecting the next layer, you could try starting with yriel yellow over wraithbone instead
@@ThePaintingCoach Perhaps I don’t have proper lighting or something but they definitely look orange, I’ll try yriel next time
No worries
What kind of display base is that
That's what the model comes like 👍🏻
How do you paint your bases
Astrogtanite washed with athonian camoshade 👍🏻
I always thought that astrogranite needed shading
Yeah it's very flat otherwise - you can also dry brush to pick out some detail
@@mw28945 try hellion green for drybrush, it gives astrogranite this eerie haunting green glow to it. Perfect for necrons

Tor Garadon werden Sie malen?
Thanks for the comment - probably not soon - you can try my Imperial Fist tutorial for the armour
@@ThePaintingCoach Thanks, I will take a look.
No problem!
your shits about to blow up bro
Could I used corax white instead of chrome? Great guide btw!
Probably not - I don't think it would look right - Stormhost Silver is the GW equivalent
Could I use brass scorpion instead of balthasar gold?
Yes should be fine
