The United States is known for its big portions at restaurants. You can take leftovers home with you in a doggy bag, but lots of food nonetheless ends up in the bin. That's no longer the case in Austin, Texas, where restaurants are now required to donate extra food to shelters, send food scraps to animal farms, or compost organic waste.
