This scene is so nostalgic. For those who grew up in the real era, we all can relate. No Instagram No TicTok No DMs No Only-Fans No "Influencers" No Filter-Queens etc... We interacted with one another and developed social skills that devices can't teach. I remember plenty of times catching the eyes of a female and respectfully approaching asking for her house number lol. Hanging out with friends before /after class getting into fights in school becoming good friends with the same kids we fought. The 80s and 90s truly were the best.
Ironically though, Daniel grew up in Newark NJ and those Blonde California Surf Boy's wouldn't last a day in the Italian section of Newark ! The many Saints of Newark based on the beginning of the Soprano's was 100 percent accurate !
Good god the way he smiles at her and tries to impress her with the soccer moves. I know there were a lot of heartthrobs in the 80s but Ralph Macchio was in a unique class of his own.
How has no one mentioned that the real villain in the karate kid universe is Tommy? He sadistically points out Ali/Daniel to Johnny KNOWING it will set him off. Cobra Kai reveals that he obviously spent his whole youth jealous of Johnny which explains his sneery expression and how he jumped at the opportunity to rub salt in the fresh wound of Johnny's breakup with Ali. Years later, him revealing how he loved secretly was loving Ali the whole time explains his motivations. Also notice how he and Dutch egg Johnny on to escalate the physical violence on Daniel in this scene as well. I don't expect most people to get this because Tommy's movements are a lot more covert and go under the radar which is why people neglect to see him as a villain. But he has my vote for the true villain. Everyone else's movements (though rash and irresponsible) are somewhat understandable in the heat of the moment. Tommy was a sadist demonstrated throughout the WHOLE film from the very start all the way down to "get him a body bag" when Daniel was taking a beating in the final scene lol.
The screenplay describes this moment and Tommy himself as being semi impish/mischievous. He's definitely provoking Johnny. Though tbf Johnny probably would have noticed and gotten pissed off eventually whether Tommy pointed it out or not lolol.
Tommy and Bobby are kinda like the Devil and Angel on Johnny's shoulders in a way. Tommy is trying to egg Johnny on so he'll get pissed off, while Bobby is trying to calm down Johnny, encouraging him to forget about Ali and move on.
They both seems like assholes. Daniel intervenes, Johnny push Daniel in the sand, Johnny tries to make amends but Daniel sucker punches him and call it even, then Johnny beats the shit out of Daniel and blames it on Ali. Perhaps Nadal is the real hero of Karate Kid lol
NOSTALGIA!!! I think I always related to being Daniel since that is my name, I was the new kid to school and that year we saw this movie in the gym on a rainy day. It became one of my favorite films to day. So glad the writers cared so much about the story that they put so much passion into progressing it into the show that's talked about everywhere. Team Miyagi-Do all the way!
I don't consider Daniel a bully, but he likes to stick his nose where it shouldn't go. Daniel shouldn't have picked up the radio and tried to hand it to Ali while she was in the middle of an argument with Johnny lol. He inserted himself into the situation and got his ass kicked for it. Realistically, he should have let Johnny and Ali handle their relationship stuff without feeling the need to try and win points with Ali or act like a white knight.
One of my favorite movies. Daniel was so CUTE. I still get goosebumps watching this scene. I love the way he looks at her. Great chemistry. Wish I was her. lol
When Daniel went to Ali's aid, he was doing what any guy would do when wanting to impress a lady. He was also trying to help Ali whom Johnny was actually harassing. True, Daniel shouldn't have retaliated (and martial arts is strictly for defence), but Johnny deliberately goaded him into a fight to show his alpha-male dominance.
@@Pig_Shnitt As a man the best thing you should ever do is call the police. Especially if you see a group of guys where the girl is being harassed. In real life people get seriously injured or killed for doing what daniel did depending on the area. Johnny at least had the dignity to fight one on one. I've seen people get jumped for trying to play hero
@@Pig_Shnitt You only say that because we know what's going on. Real life you don't go through a group of guys trying to save the damsel in distress. Number 2 I believe daniel was the more antagonistic one throughout the movie. They had already fought johnny one fair and square. When they were playing soccer in school daniel got tackled and started fighting one of the cobra kais. He's a poor sport. Then the infamous halloween night where he pranked someone while they were using the toilet and mr miyagi the child beater came and saved daniel even though he was mainly in the wrong it doesn't take 5 6 people to beat someone they've already beaten up
Johnny's character development is amazing. From a complete douche in KK1 to a lovable guy in CK. Daniel on the other hand I'm not so sure about. I feel like Daniel was slightly more likeable in KK than in CK.
Everything decides on director, Most stories are like this , The roles of their character is exactly opposite so there may be certain extended to the story. In short THEY CHANGE THE WHOLE STORY THAT DOESN'T HAVE ANY RELATIONSHIP WITH KARATE KID 😮. Today movies changed too far
I mean, I don’t see how that’s true. In Season 3 of Cobra Kai, neither he nor Daniel blamed her for *their* rivalry. They both admitted some fault in their rivalry. In this scene, she had already broken up with Johnny, and he wasn’t ready to move past her. She also didn’t ask Daniel to butt in like he did. Johnny should have listened to Bobby when he said, “Come on, man, forget it. It’s ancient history.” Words of wisdom, really. No wonder Bobby grew up to be a pastor.
Well, Ali did push him away when he wanted to talk which isn't okay. However, Johnny pushed Daniel away which made him a bad person. They both suck, Daniel is in the right.
I'll admit that in Cobra Kai, after the school fight, one of the angry parents said to Daniel Bull**** I heard you were the real bully. I was laughing 😂. But why do people still think he’s the bully?

@@godzillasimpson8357 No, Ralph Macchio was 23 when Karate Kid released in 1984. He was born in '61. Meaning he would've been around 21-22 during filming.
The most frustrating thing about this movie is how Freddie and his friends react to Daniel getting beat up. None of them would have ever had the courage to stand up to Johnny and face him one on one. They leave Daniel by himself on the beach, clown him after they see his black eye, etc. Then AFTER Daniel wins the tournament they have the nerve to come up and congratulate him like they were his buddies all along. I liked Johnny when I first saw Karate Kid back in the day. At the end when Daniel Wins the tournament, Johnny gives him the trophy and says, "You're all right, Larusso. He earned my respect then.
Honestly the first time I watched this movie I felt that Johnny was the villan and when Cobra Kai came out made reflect that Johnny maybe wasn't the villan I felt empathy for him
In Cobra Kai, Daniel sort of develops a petty rivalry with Johnny. For the instance, the restaurant scene. Johnny asks the waiter to write down their order and Daniel asks the waiter the exact same question, when Johnny already asked it. Also, Johnny told the waiter to not add something to the food, Daniel does the exact same thing.

It's weird how many people are taking the sides with Johnny here. Number one, Ali told Johnny to leave her alone. He refused, that's harassment. If anyone suggesting its 'none of Daniel's business' and think its OKAY to harass women, well, you have problems, but he doesn't intervene. Just observes. Two, he then BREAKS her radio.. Destruction of property. Three, all Daniel did, is walk over and grab the radio, then Johnny really gets angry. Grabs and then pushes Daniel. Then picks a fight with him. Yeah, Daniel literally did nothing. Stop using Coba Kai bias here. I like Johnny as much as Daniel in Cobra Kai. Here, he was COMPLETELY WRONG. Its all on him. Not Daniel, not Ali, him.
The only thing Johnny did wrong here was push Daniel to the floor and even though Johnny shouldn't have done that, Daniel shouldn't have gotten involved since it had nothing to do with him. Johnny wasn't harassing Ali, he just wanted to talk to her.

He just mixed truth with lies and stretched out perspectives with falacies to justify his sob story to Miguel and seem like a victim. @@tomastapia5241 I agree was pretty much everything you’re saying here but Daniel did Keep rivalry going by not letting it go after this incident. Wtf is wrong with some of the comments? - The relationship was over, Ali doesn't have to talk to Johny. - She agreed to talk to him anyway, and he went ahead and broke her radio regardless. - Breaking someone's property is not just illegal in itself, it's also an extremely common predecessor to physical abuse. - But sure, Daniel is the villain for interfering and Ali is also the villain for "causing the rivalry" 🙄

I also explained Tommy's sneakiness which is. Was on other UA-cam video's

I personally don't see how Daniel is considered a bully. Even if it wasn't his business, Daniel didn't really do anything there to be seen as a bully.
