And not to mention I’m glad Johnny even told Daniel about his past and why he was rich. Years later Johnny would also do this same thing with saving Miguel from Kyler.
I agree with Bobby. Mercy is not “exactly” for the weak. Even the strong and skilled have their moments of being merciful. Bobby was shown to have that the most out of any of them. Johnny went on later throughout the years of the methods he learned and in addition with newer methods of karate and bringing the whole thing with Daniel to a resolution whether their enemies who became friends, or even are the best of frenemies. Dutch, however, being the most cocky and ill-tempered one of them all, has become too much more of John Kreese or even worse than him and later incarcerated. That kick, had it landed, could very well have killed Daniel. Mister Miyagi didn't just save Daniel's life, but he effectively saved Johnny, Dutch, Tommy and Bobby from themselves in committing murder or at the very least man slaughter.
I agree. It might sound like a strange thing to say, but the truth is, the Cobra Kai were lucky that Mr. Miyagi intervened. Everybody at the school dance saw Daniel running out, with Johnny and his friends chasing him. It was also common knowledge that they knew karate, and that Daniel had a bad history with them. If, that night or the next morning, Daniel had turned up dead, of blunt force trauma to the head, with his body covered in bruises consistent with being punched and kicked ... Who do you think the prime suspects would have been?
You can roll 80’s bammer like that lol. This was way before club weed and solid nugs lol. But maybe had to keep lighting it the way he was twisting it. They probably would of got two hits a piece before going out.

I was 2nd dolly operator on this movie. I remember when Chad McQueen, who played Dutch, was practicing his lines for this scene. The original script was “that don’t mean shit”. I said to him, Chad baby, there will be kids watching this, maybe ad lib that line? So he changed it to “that don’t mean squat”. Great times
@@KentPetersonmoney Danield had some grief from Cobra Kai and Johnny wasn't too happy about him stealing his g/f, but he took things a bit too far at the Halloween Hop. Daniel knew these guys would attack and were trained by a ruthless sensei, so he was playing with fire.
@@KentPetersonmoney These guys were very fit, strong and conditioned to fight to the extremes. However, an old man with decades more experience came to the rescue.
A lot of karate is a sport, but Mr Miyagi trained the traditional way, where it was for self defence, and also used a judo throw, which can be as devastating as a karate strike. I knew a man who trained in judo and jiu jitsu and said the throws and locks could be devastating.
would have been better if Johnny started pushing him around in the bathroom, Daniel sees the hose and turn it on as way to distract Johnny to get in a punch to get away.
The same man who taught them a brutal lesson in karate here would turn out to be the same man who would protect them from their own enraged master at the beginning of Karate Kid II. Who'd have thought....?
If Daniel's mother saw him getting beat up by 5 boys dressed as skeletons outside their home, would they listen to her or ignore her despite Mr. Miyagi defending Daniel?
Idk about the actors. But the characters have a huge gap in athletic ability. The gang trained at a dojo for years, giving them good cardio. While Daniel has yet to train or workout a day in his life. Notice he was getting winded while the gang was still going strong.
Johnny Lawrence: "At the Halloween dance, I'm sitting there minding my own business. Then he douses me with the water hose. I hadn't seen the guy in months and he turns a water hose on my head. So I chased him down, tried to put an end to things that night, right? Turns out the guy's got a Karate Master of his own. The guy comes out of nowhere, jumps us, assaults me and my friends. (scoffs) I think my buddy Tommy got brain damage because of that fight." Miguel Diaz: "Oh my God."
Total lies he told Miguel and left out the details why he was picking on Daniel in the first place since he was to stubborn to listen to Ali and everything
I don't feel bad for Dutch. When Kreese attacks Johnny after the torunament, Bobby and Tommy try to stop Kreese and Jimmy looks disgusted, but all three come to help Johnny. Dutch simply turns around and shows he doesn't care.
I've always wondered what the secret to Mr Miyagi's flawless defense is. Chozen explains some of it in Cobra Kai season 3, but I'm quite sure there's more.
@@paulsmith9192 I think that's true. I also think Mr Miyagi is extremely good at reading people and their faces to predict attacks before they happen. Plus he's in his sixties, so even though he's on the older side, his karate experience counts for an awful lot and his size makes him even faster. Plus he knows some very deadly moves. Mr Miyagi seems to know how to defend against every type of martial arts attack there is. I wouldn't just call Mr Miyagi a sensei, I'd call him a total expert.
@@jlogan2228 Those are definitely tactics of his, I agree. And that strategy proves to be quite effective, at least in the movie. Do you know if Mr Miyagi's defense methods have ever been tested in martial arts classes in real life?
Best part of this scene is the fact that he lives a football field length away from his school…. When during the movie he rides his bike and remarks at his mom saying “it’s safer taking the bus”…. No need for bikes and buses if you can walk there in less than a minute. Lol
@@vxy357 Bull Johnny even said after the Bike thing they Pretty Much left him alone and from what I saw in the movie it looked like he was right . Don't know when that Pie thing happened because it was a Deleted Scene you seem to have amnesia or something when it comes to that restroom 🚻🚺 scene with Johnny that got Daniel that Ass Kicking . And for what all because he was Showing Off For Allie
The problem here is that even though Daniel caused the situation that got him jumped,Cress's "Mercy is for the weak,an enemy deserves no mercy" mode of thinking he passed on to his students is way over the line
That's exactly what Johnny wanted to avoid passing on to Miguel. Unfortunately, he would up creating a brigade of thugs. Hell, Daniel made a point of stressing to Robby exactly _how and why_ his father became a jerkass bully.
I hope that they bring the OG Cobras Bobby, Dutch, and Jimmy back for Season 6. They can use archive footage of Chad McQueen from reality shows and films and blend it all in with the overall narrative.
That shows you right there. Johnny had to be a nice guy to other students. But only had Daniel as a threat because of his reactions with Allie. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty sure he teased a few weaker students who were dorks. But when Daniel came into town, It opened up a new pattern to Johnny going beyond his usual bullying to almost killing Daniel at this moment.
I was at a 3rd grade sleepover when I first saw this, they must have rented it I'm guessing (this would have been around '86). I just remember us laughing so hard at the guy's reaction when he got kicked in the balls lol. He totally oversells it, any guy knows it takes your voice away for a moment, and if Miyagi did it you probably lost one of them
Did he automatically think it was Daniel that wet him because Daniel was the only enemy he had because I wonder why he never considered his friend did it as a prank
I assume so. As far as the guy dressed like Spider-Man... If he knows what Johnny's like at this stage in his life, he most likely wouldn't dare try to piss Johnny off, even for a (really harmless) prank. But that's just my guess.

Little did they know, Daniel had a "karate master" of his own😆😆😆
You mean local busy body, Karate master, and child batterer? 😂
Daniel started this he saw an opportunity and took it thank God for Mr Miyagi❤😊 Rip Pat Morita
What a clever idea. Hide yourself in a shower curtain at a Halloween Party, ambush the bully and still get beaten, until Miyagi comes to his aid.
That kick, had it landed, could very well have killed Daniel. Mister Miyagi didn't just save Daniel's life, but he effectively saved Johnny, Dutch, Tommy and Bobby from themselves in committing murder or at the very least man slaughter.
AT best, it could've gave him a head injury, broke his jaw, or his facial bones. At worst, it could've very well killed him.
Yeah that's what I was Thinking Too .
The cops don't exist in the Karate Kid universe.
Daniel started that
I was there in 1984 watching this in the theater. The audience cheered. What an iconic scene.
After that beating Daniel really needed the joint that Johnny rolled.
Miyagi : Daniel Sawn you take this it will make you feel better . Daniel : what is this . Miyagi it's Called a Joint . You Smoke it .
Johnny still has PTSD of Miyagi kicking his ass so easily. 😂 As shown in season 1.
3:14 😂😂😂😂 ouchhhh
Miyagi's probably thinking, "So many bones to break, so little time."
Johnny was rolling a joint 😅
And a terrible joint, No one I know rolls that bad! You don't twist the hell out of the ends like that 🤣
You can roll 80’s bammer like that lol. This was way before club weed and solid nugs lol. But maybe had to keep lighting it the way he was twisting it. They probably would of got two hits a piece before going out.
I heard one guy saying he thought he was rolling a Tootsie Roll. Which is pretty hilarious
Daniel should have waited a few minutes before turning on the water. Johnny would have had a better shot at find the joke to be funny.
Cobra Kai did had a badass name for an dojo
Johnny get a black eye even though he doesn't get hit in the face.
Power of an old master. Chop to the sternum causes black eye lol.
Yeah that's what I always wondered how Johnny got that Black Eye . Maybe there was a Deleted Scene were he got Hit in the Face
Plottwist:
One of his friends hit him by accident when they all fell while chasing Daniel
@robertrodriguez787 I saw the rehersel footage & nothing. I wished, cobra Kai would've answered it.only guess, maybe when miyagi flipped johnny, his face hit the ground before he landed on his back. But,maybe they were gonna film a scene where miyagi hit johnny.but was cut
Kreese gave him that after Johnny told him about how they got their asses beat by Miyagi.
Great times
Johnny just obliterated that sign 3:06
Mr.Myagi wax on wax on technique were actually amazing. 😍
Kreese: Alright, NOBODY Touch the Prima Donna until the tournament understood?
Daniel: Now this is my perfect opportunity to harass Johnny..
Kreese didn't give that order to long after this
That happened AFTER this scene.
How is this harrass? Is an innocent prank
Not only did Mr. Miyagi potentially save Daniel's life, but he also saved Johnny and his friends from possibly going to prison for life.
They will probably run away after Daniel die,but they will probably get caught cuz everyone saw them run after Daniel
The boys had the strength but Miyagi had the experience!
Imagine if Miyagi jumped over the fence, and shouted "Hold him down!", then proceeded to unbuckle his belt, and......
I think Daniel pushed his luck in this scene, knowing what would happen, and if Mr Miyagi didn't turn up, it could have been a lot worse.
Sometimes we want to get our enemies back but don't think of the consequences.
@@Glenn1967ful Yeah but considering the bullying he felt he needed to stand up for himself aswell
A lot of karate is a sport, but Mr Miyagi trained the traditional way, where it was for self defence, and also used a judo throw, which can be as devastating as a karate strike. I knew a man who trained in judo and jiu jitsu and said the throws and locks could be devastating.
I heard in the commentary that Ralph was so tired of running, so the director told the actors playing the cobra kai to run at half speed.
Honestly, Daniel brought this on himself.
would have been better if Johnny started pushing him around in the bathroom, Daniel sees the hose and turn it on as way to distract Johnny to get in a punch to get away.
wow its wild to see johnny doing miyagi do now
The beginning of kreese’s grudge against mr miyagi
no not really it started when miyagi attacked kreese
Miyagi never attacked Kreese. Kreese attacked him.
@@Rambo20244 nah kreese kinda explained to silver the reason the rivalry was because miyagi “attacked” his students
"Look at him, God! He can't even stand up!"
Probably would have said stuff to her like what's this Daniel needs Mommy to fight his fights for him . And ran away
@azurerainbow4637 it is halloween
I always wonder how they caught up to him that fast unless he slowed down a lot.
Idk about the actors. But the characters have a huge gap in athletic ability. The gang trained at a dojo for years, giving them good cardio. While Daniel has yet to train or workout a day in his life. Notice he was getting winded while the gang was still going strong.
Daniel was essentially wearing a parachute.
Slowed Down to Climb the Fence and they Caught him
I am glad that Mr Miyagi saved Daniel from johnny and his gang on Halloween night!😊
(scoffs) I think my buddy Tommy got brain damage because of that fight."
Miguel Diaz: "Oh my God."
Total lies he told Miguel and left out the details why he was picking on Daniel in the first place since he was to stubborn to listen to Ali and everything
Johnny was in the same situation trying to save Miguel and unfortunately got arrested for it 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

@@dramzv Exactly, not surprised Dutch ended up in jail.
I've always wondered what the secret to Mr Miyagi's flawless defense is. Chozen explains some of it in Cobra Kai season 3, but I'm quite sure there's more.
@nathannelson6843 I guess he just waited for the enemy to attack & used his defense skills.miyagi always stayed focused & was always clam

See that... Johnny forced Miyagi to block once.
Karate kids had this movie on DVD too.😃👏
Does anyone remember William Zabka in an M&M's commercial, from the 1980's?
Best part of this scene is the fact that he lives a football field length away from his school…. When during the movie he rides his bike and remarks at his mom saying “it’s safer taking the bus”…. No need for bikes and buses if you can walk there in less than a minute. Lol
Am I the only one that thought Bobby was the nice one cause he was the only one who showed simpathy
I'll say decent. He knew Daniel had enough. Johnny wanted to beat him more or kill him.
Bobby even showed a little sympathy during the beach fight
The thumbnail is so funny when miyagi do hits Johnny's arm and johnny used to fist 🤣🤣🤣
In retrospect, Daniel should've left well enough alone. Then again, Mr Miyagi might have never taught Daniel if he hadn't faced such a beating......
But the Cobra Kai kids wouldn't have left well alone. At some point, you eventually push back.
@@vxy357 Bull Johnny even said after the Bike thing they Pretty Much left him alone and from what I saw in the movie it looked like he was right . I feel that these guys would’ve been facing a murder charge if Mr. Miyagi hadn’t intervened.
Actually he probably wouldn't have been attacked if he had just blended in with the crowd at the party.
Just noticed that move that myagi uses on Johnny when he flips him over is the same move Daniel used to defeat Barnes at the end of part 3
3:13 I felt that kick to the goons!!

@@goliathgar4985 original TMNT cartoon (late 80s-mid90s)
This is a scene I'll never forget as a kid, was so hyped seeing Mr Miyagi do this, didn't see the capability in that little old frame at all.
Mr. Miyagi never touched Johnny's face but he ended up with a shiner. I really hated Dutch and Tommy the most.
The only lines jimmy said in this film was " How about a Front kick johnny" at the fight
If Johnny connected with that last kick he would have killed Daniel.
I hope that they bring the OG Cobras Bobby, Dutch, and Jimmy back for Season 6. They can use archive footage of Chad McQueen from reality shows and films and blend it all in with the overall narrative.
If he wouldn't have taken off running, and instead closed his curtain and hung out on the dance floor, they might not have suspected him.
Fun fact: Mr. Miyagi @ 3:12 is actually Pat Morita’s stunt double Fumio Demura who is a grandmaster at Shito Ryu Karate!
Lmao I love how my man was trying to dap johnny up
That shows you right there.
