Given that clothing in general is becoming less dressy, I think kilt fashions need to perpetually evolve to accommodate more casual styling. While that doesn't necessarily require a change in the kilt or sporran, it does need a continuous readjustment of the shirts and other clothing worn with it.
Perfect as is, except I'd like to see the heavy-weight tartan like military kilts used to be made from be more widely available and in multi-tartans. This ain't fickle "fashion," it's culture.

I used to shorten my kilt that I wore mostly on club nights -- my Mother (rip) said "You better not , you will turn it into a mini-skirt " 😂
