Thank you. I sent my husband's pants off to the cleaners/alterations and they replaced the last jean button from a failed alteration button replacement. Now I know why they both failed and came off. The button they both used had no ridges. It basically looked like a tack that had a squared off tip with tiny scrapes on the sides. Thanks to you, I now know what to buy on Ebay and how to put it on myself!

Thanks for the great tips, I searched through a lot of videos trying to figure out how to remove and how to apply Jean buttons and your video was the only one that explained everything thoroughly even down to the best buttons to use.

It's a very informative video. THANK YOU for posting on here. I just purchased a brand new denim jacket on Ebay, washed/dried it and when it came out of the dryer, the bottom button had broken off! It wasn't a cheap jacket either. I love the look of the jacket, but now I'm worried that it's a piece of ......well, you know. By the way, it was Evil Denim from seaky tiki.

Thanks a lot ..... not rocket science but well worth a look as sometimes easy looking jobs quickly end in disaster ..... a few minutes learning avoids that !
Took your advice and hammered rivet (tack) into button NOT button onto rivet as some on here suggest. Don't need a painful thumb / finger ! :-)
    Thanks again.

Just a suggestion.Try using some Goop. It's a hard rubber adhesive, sold everywhere. It originally sold as Shoe Goo.Holds up well to washing.I haven't even done a tack button, yet, but think I may add some Goop,to the hole before puting on the tack button.

Hi. I tried this method only my shank button came with a fastener that looks like a straight nail (no ridgets or cone shaped end). When I try to hammer these in, the button does not stay on and the nail fastener starts coming through the front. Any ideas on what I can do about these?

Nice? You implied negatively for taking the advice from this video by selecting something stylish from Ebay but you also presumed to know the time of shipping of it (being over 5 months) and furthermore, imply that I was both stupid and naive to overpay by double for something cheap and most likely used.
In that...how do you figure you were being nice?

You say, "I am the only person i care about."
No surprise there. That's a very pretentious remark.
You say "I am not here to try to make idiots like you impressed..." .
Yet your prior actions contradict your professed statement by posting multiple ostentatious declarations to myself and others.
Yet, if that claim were true...we wouldn't be having this dispute, now would we? As you would never had felt the need to post inflated remarks in the first place to people that never addressed you.

You have to drill off the back or use two pairs of pliers. Honestly it's not worth removing the buttons to save since they can't be used again unless you just like to collect them.
