Rochas: A History of One of France’s Oldest Fashion Houses (From Haute Couture to Perfume Empire)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 кві 2020
- Marcel Rochas was a couturier like no other, and his work during the first half of the 19th century was work that still lives within the world of fashion even today. Luckily, Rochas (rochas.com) asked me to develop a history of the house for you all and of course, I said yes! So please enjoy as we work through the history of this brand as we explore the lives of Marcel, many of his wives including Helen Rochas who made Rochas into a perfume empire after Marcel's death, and the designers who have carried on Marcel's message of simplicity in Haute Couture.

Tbh, the fact that an important fashionbrand is asking luke to do a video on their history and giving him an outfit, is everything. Finally he starts to get the credits he deserves!!!
1000%
Yesss. Feel like a proud mom watching this
honestly, I would def join a zoom history class if you were the teacher lmao

Please
Where do I sign up. Take my money lol 😆
Megan May no plss be free I poor
luke trying to pronounce french words is giving me life
leh clooooob
@@ivyriou8240 french is difficult to pronounce if it isn't your first language, be nice pls
Sis is low key becoming an influencer!!! Can you imagine a fashion house asking you to film a video! I could never 🥰
Will you finish your series on the history of Dior? We need the tea on Maria Grazia 😂
Ps. My sister's name is Maria Grazia and everytime I call her in my head it sounds with your accent. Imagine your power
Edit: I just finished the video, and I wanted to thank you for the research and passion that you put into it. They really show.
I actually knew of Helene Rochas because she was so iconic.
really where had you heard of her before!?!!?
@@hautelemode She was incl in the international best dressed hall fame iirc
16:42 Accounting for inflation, $40 million in 1971 is about $255 million in 2020. She made that COIN.
I love that he's pushing so much content out lately, all this extra content by creators is what's saving me.
You’re the only one on this platform I’d actually watch a 24 minute long about fashion heritage, you really know your way about making interesting content and educational one without making it boring or patronizing! Congrats on the collaboration and yes, you looked beautiful in that look!
UA-camrs are lowkey one of the unsung heroes of quarantine, I have no clue how I would keep my sanity if I didn't have all this content, esp HauteLeMode
TacoSeniour i wrote an article for my local newspaper about this exact topic. it’s veryyy true
Two videos in 24 hours? Who is she? we love all this content
That black mermaid dress is everything, where is that on the red carpet today? The birds? We stan a genius
Will you ever do a history of Martin Margiela? Margiela is my favorite brand and I think people should know more about it.
definitely would love to but i think it'll be in the way off in the future!!
UA-camrs like Avery Ginsberg and Bliss Foster have made several videos on the history of MMM.
Nikola Tadic the fashion archive has a few great videos on him
@@hautelemode Would love to see a video on the upcoming Margiela documentary!
@@simonceder1308 OMG me too. I can't wait to watch it.
my history teacher could never
Period⚫️
But you history teacher would probably know that they did not have TV in the 1920's.
Your mom should be hella impressed with what you do Luke. Hella impressed.
Luke makes me want to get rid of all of my clothes and buy new fashionable stuff
I wish i could just never buy anything fastfashion anymore and only get real shit. Fuck i need a sugar daddy.
Alexis Jauregui I felt this 🙁
Buy thrifted. It's the poor persons way to partake in sustainable fashion
I’m fully sold on Rochas. I love their silhouettes. From what you showed of their newer collections it seems like they walk that fine line between modern and timeless. Almost an ageless feel. And very French which I LOVE
Yes. Yes. Yes.
The outfit,
The content,
The humor.
I LIVE.
Please do one of these on Mugler! I was gagging at everything at the exposition of his clothes in Rotterdam and I know you love tis work too!
Aww that pic of Hani modelling the perfume made me miss EXID more
I'm so glad they asked you to do a history of their brand, that is so cool!!!! I wish more brands would do that! To hear someone I already watch talking about the history of a brand I may only know a few things about gives it so much more importance and makes me want to invest in the brands you talk about. :)
Serving high fashion, tie-dye realness. This needs to be a series!!!
I'm living for this! Imagine what the Rochas PR person might think when they hear Luke calling their founder a fuckboy
I knew the brand as Rochas is very well regarded among perfume heads for their very inventive scents.
I wear eau de Rochas all the time. Eau de cologne with frankincense and myrrh - amazing!
In the 80s/90s, Rochas produced a men's cologne with a sweet vanilla base - I called it "Man Candy" though I believe its their cologne called Rochas Man. It comes in a distinctive frosted glass butt plug (I suggest you check it out). Guys, in particular, would swarm me whenever I wore it. I need to get another bottle :)
I have one! Regarded as one of first, or the first, Gourmand scents for men. Lavender and coffee in a sea of vanilla
Is it really cologne-y or would it work as a female scent as well 👀
freakin' love that sweater, your lewk was hot
Luke trying to pronounce French words is reminding me so much of Dexter’s “Omelette du Fromage”
we stan a king who has luxury fashion labels going to him
"when you know you know and it's the best way to know" sounds so great)).
Yes Luke get that recognition 👏👏
Now I get why Rochas is a big deal for a lot of fashion models. That was Lindsey Wixson @19:52 haha
I loved this! Please let this become a series. Versace would be cool, such a rich history there
incredible that rochas asked you to do this ! very very smart brand ! i now love rochas !!!!!!!!!! stan
NYU give this man his own fashion art history class PLEASE
I'm french and was watching next to my non-english speaking grandmother who just adored your prononciation of french name, just keep saying avenue matignon, i'll listen! This is an excellent video, I wish french speakers had your skills! I was so happy to learn about Rochas.
Je ne suis pas français, mais sa prononciation blessé ma oreilles.
@@seybertooth9282 ton orthographe blesse mes yeux...

I hope this becomes a series!!
Rochas' Macassar is my favorite winter cologne of all time. A bit heavy for the 2020's but it kicked ass in the 1980s.
This was wonderfully presented. I've never really stopped to look at Rochas so this was fantastic. Your presentation really help with my Design History Course I'm currently taking.
HauteLeMode is spoiling us with brilliant uploads; thank you Luke you are the best!!
