  • @vpxc

    The Xbone D-Pad is the only one that consistently passes the following two tests:
    1. Depress the left button on the D-Pad and roll your thumb over to the right side of the D-Pad without releasing it. Repeat this 10 times without producing an up or down input on the D-Pad.
    2. With your fingers in a non-slippery state (a minute amount of sweat but mostly dry fingers will do this), try to produce a downward input by dragging down the right side of the D-Pad. It may take some practice for each controller. If you cannot do this (short of hitting the D-Pad from the short side facing opposite you), the controller passes the test.
    This makes it the most accurate D-Pad on a contemporary, mainline console controller.
    Its placement combined with the Xbone grip style makes it pretty inconvenient to use, though. I always end up reaching for the analog stick in 2D games that support using both. :-(

    I have Gamesir G3w. It's a wonderful controller, and pretty good for it's price, however I can't recommend it.
    Reason is, the d-pads are very imprecise. If you point in any direction (up/down/left/right), even if you're 15 degrees off it will still register as if you are pointing in that exact direction. Therefore, you will often just be pointing in a direction on gamepad and it will register entirely different in game, creating many unintuitive moments of frustration.
    Another thing is analog stick intensity not being 1/1 relation. To reach maximum intensity you only need to push analog stick half of the way in direction you want. So if you want to fine tune your analog inputs, you have to be much more precise to compensate for this weirdness.

  • @darksoul5097
    @darksoul5097 4 роки тому +8

    I still use my wireless 360 controller on pc. I've tried the xbox one controller and the D pad is way better but on the other hand I find the analog sticks feel lighter and offer less resistance, wich is bad for me and I can't make up my mind. Eventually I'll probably get the xbox one version but I'm keeping my 360 controller while it lasts (It's about 10 years old now).

    A few things that you didn't cover is that 360 needs a receiver, or must be wired out of the box, the charge and play kit doesn't work four PC. The 1st gen Xbox One controller doesn't support Bluetooth and you'll need to use a micro USB cable, it's easy to spot the difference as the older variant has the indented area around the Xbox button. The only way that I ever played a PS4 controller on PC was to use micro USB and a program called DS4.

    • @CrashD6
      @CrashD6 4 роки тому +1

      The T1s' D-Pad is absolute trash, I had one, you press one direction, it hits two, impossible to play fighting and sidescrollers, I've had to open the damn thing and cut the D-Pap into 4 separate pieces to make it useful/playable...
      Also, the software is bad, it's not terrible, but it freezes from time to time, the analog "stincks" if you know what I mean...
      But the overall quality of the material and hardware is "quite" good, but the drawbacks far outweighs the qualities.

    About the Xbox one controller, yes, you have to buy a rechargeable battery for it if you want that but you can replace it if you want/need to.

  • @RoastedLocust
    @RoastedLocust 5 років тому +1

    My PS4 controller has a battery life of about 4 hours even with that stupid light on the back turned down all the way, and the d-pad is in the wrong place. There are games where you have to hit the d-pad to use a health potion or whatever, but at the same time, you need to be on the move using the left stick as well. With most controllers, you can use your left thumb to use the stick, while reaching over with your right thumb to hit the d-pad at the same time. Doing this on the PS4 controller is tricky.
    I don't know about the Xbox 1 controllers, but I've used rechargeable batteries for the 360 controller forever. Whenever the batteries would die, I'd simply pop in another pair of charged batteries to keep playing wirelessly. You can't do that with the PS4, which you'll be playing with a wire most of the time due the poor battery life.
    My 360 controllers all have worn sticks and the d-pad sucks, so I've been thinking of getting an Xbox One controller. I beat Cuphead with the 360 dpad though.

  • @meh78336

    Its a no brainer, XB1S controller, its the most compatible of all the controllers, even more so than the 360 one as you can use it right out of the box without a wireless receiver (well so long as you have Bluetooth) not to mention it works perfectly with Android or the likes of the Oculus Go for streaming games. Mind you with a 360 receiver it's a pretty level playing field and if you are lucky you can get a combo pack with both for about £30, that's how I got my 2 and that was nearly the price of 1 XB1S controller.

    Xbox 360 wired controller was noticeably higher quality and more durable than the One controllers. Wish they still made them just for PC players. PS4 controller is lovely, but I think the Xbox controller is nicer for 3D shooters due to the trigger design and resistance. I actually prefer to use the R1/L1 buttons for the aiming and firing controls in FPS/3PS because there's so much less travel. The PS4 controller has lovely build quality and Sony's batteries don't seem to die (my original used PS3 controller that came with the first 60GB fatty model PS3 still works fine in 2018). It also has a better d-pad if you're going to be playing a lot of 2D games or emulating. Source: over a decade of experience playing on the Xbox Controller S/360 controller, and as a PS4 owner.

    It's worth noting that if you plug an xbox controller in via a cable you will not have to worry about batteries at all. Also for a lot of the controllers such as xbox controllers don't need an adapter for PC if you plug it in via micro usb. But if you use it wirelessly on a PC, you are probably going to need an adapter. If I am not mistaken, the same goes for the playstation controller. Just something worth keeping in mind.

      @@hailzgaming from my understanding, yes, but you will need to have the cable for the 360 controller. The game will also already need to be pre maid for controllers. Games such as overwatch usually have it prebuilt already. Their is a little icon when buying a PC game that shows controller compatibility. But since xbox is Microsoft, it tends to just immediately work on windows PC so long as the game supports it.

    Very comfortably with one of these cotrollers !

    steam controller is absolutely my favorite. I love how you can actually navigate windows with it, and the customizability is unbeatable. the gyroscope makes it so fps without autoaim is actually playable. i also didn't have to go through the learning curve of swapping controllers because i was never a console gamer in the first place, but I did try the xbox controller for a few weeks before getting the steam controller.

    • @ze_or
      @ze_or 5 років тому +3

      Figarche I think it's perfect for a htpc. The keyboards works surprisingly well for a controller. I mean I won't write a essay with it but if you just want to search up something quickly, I have no problem using it.
      You can make any game work with the steam controller, even games not on steam that doesn't support controllers at all. There are community configurations for each game, even non steam games, and they are often enough but you can go the extra step to make your own and it is astonishing how much you can customize it

    I am glad you did not include any of Razer's controllers on this list, I've had 2 (Wildcat, then that was replaced under warranty with the Wolverine T.E.) and both were amazing at first, but did not last long (less than a year) and no, I don't treat my controllers like crap; because before the Wildcat I had used a wireless Xbox 360 controller for about 10 years.
    What should have made the list is the Nintendo Switch's pro controller, which I used while my Wildcat was being replaced. It took a little while to get used to, but it has the layout that I like. This makes me believe that we should just stick to 1st party controllers, no matter what - and as such when I do buy a new controller it'll probably be an Xbox 1 controller or its Elite variant (as I've come to enjoy the extra buttons for certain games) but I wouldn't mind picking up a PS4 controller on sale just to try it out. I got a Logitech controller with the Sony layout, so I may test that out first.

      I've used the Razer Onza T.E for many years without an issue. It's been my favorite controller and has worked with every game i threw at it. It's been through a lot of wear and tear but still works as good as the day i bought it. Bought the Razer Wolverine Ultimate and it sucked really bad. It didn't like many of the games i tried using it with so it pretty much sits in it's case staying unused. Disappointing considering the price...

    I have a PS4 and a Xbox 360 and I honestly prefer the Xbox 360 gamepad.
    People say that the Xbox 360's dpad is bad, but at least for me, it feels better than the PS4.
    Besides, the ability to pause the game and change the batteries when they're down is really good. When the same happens with the PS4 gamepad, you need to hook the wire, which kind of break the point of a wireless controller.
    It's just a shame that you need a special device to connect a Xbox 360 to Windows instead of just using Bluetooth.
