    • @Ferkiwi
      @Ferkiwi 3 роки тому +20

      This makes a lot of sense, even out of context.
      I don't think you can be called a fan boy for something that is free (as in freedom).
      To me "fan boy" implies simping for a person or a corporation, to the point they can take advantage and sell you stuff you wouldn't buy if made by someone else.
      Linux isn't the product of a company, nor is there a single version of Linux, the license prevents it from being owned by anyone.

      @@Ferkiwi You can definitely be a fanboy of something free. You can be a Linux fanboy. A Linux fanboy would use Linux even if another platform would be better suited for it - like playing games. If you're building a PC for gaming, it should pretty much definitely be Windows. Or you can dual boot to have Linux for your non-gaming stuff and Windows for games. If you go full Linux, well, you just might be a fanboy cause while it's improving it still isn't there yet.

    • @Ferkiwi
      @Ferkiwi 3 роки тому +1

      @@kaldo_kaldo I guess we have different definitions of "fanboy".
      To me it'd be weird to say "fanboy of the color yellow" or "fanboy of computer tech"... it needs to apply to a company (eg. Apple, Microsoft) or a company IP (eg. Xbox, Playstation), a band/group of people (eg. the Beatles), or a specific person. Rather than just being fan of a generic concept.
      To me what you describe could be called a Linux "freak" / "geek" / "obsessed", but I wouldn't say that would be a fanboy since there's no IP ownership attached to FOSS.
      It's the difference between someone who is a sucker for AMD (fanboy) and someone who is just so obsessed with APU technology that he might use an APU even for cases where getting a dedicated CPU & GPU might work better cause APU tech "still isn't there yet".
      You can be an "Ubuntu fanboy", or a "Debian fanboy", because those are Linux companies or organizations and being a fan of those groups trascends technical or moral preferences.. but "Linux fanboy" is more of a technical preference that's independent of any company/organization so it doesn't have the same meaning.

Anthony's comments about the analog sticks are weird because they are the exact same modules as the xbox and playstation controllers. I've had the Pro2 for a few months now; basically since 8bitDo released it, and it's been a great controller. Runs forever on charge, runs while plugged in, configurable button layout, has some heft to it(probably all that battery) and takes my shoving the sticks around with no issues.

    • @syncVince

      I bought the Pro+ in November and I'm using the controller ever since on an almost daily basis.
      I don't have much experience with gamepads, but I really like this one.
      It doesn't have the highest of qualities (e.g. dead skin can get trapped in many gaps and the phone stand doesn't really work for me), but I've really liked everything else (for example the battery that gets low only after 20hrs of use).
      I don't feel the need to upgrade to the Pro2, but I think that everyone who buys it will make a very good purchase.
      Btw you can even ask 8BitDo to send you replacement parts if something gets broken. I've asked them a left stick yesterday because the one I already have gets scratched under the cap and they told me they'd send me one for free.

    I have one of these. I like it a lot. Great for emulation, but I would rather use an xbox controller for playing modern pc games. That's why I have both!

      It's really a shame the Xbox controller doesn't support gyro/have back paddles. It is one of the most ergonomic controllers, but I hate the feeling of aim assist. Gyroscope is the best bet for the console/controller industry to move past it, and it feels so responsive. Comparable to K&M when set well.

    Grabbed my 8bitdo Pro today in the PS1 style for playing on PC w game pass and I’m truly in love. I’m coming from a ps4 controller and it feels incredibly similar but somehow more comfortable. I think the claim that it’s for retro games is just projecting because that’s what he sees in it. I played Star Wars Jedi order and forza for some hours today and had a blast. This controller is definitely on par for any kind of gaming. The back buttons are a plus as well. I’d say if you’ve been thinking about it just get it you’ll probably love it. I grew up on PlayStations since ps1 and this feels right at home.

      I think because steam goes out of their way to have controller supported they put their logo on there, unlike the operating system itself which may not as ive found out with my switch pro controller i got for PC gaming. Steam games work no problem, xbox on windows dont without some hassel and even then no gaurantees its working properly.

    Anthony.. Sally Le Page has a video called "Is all plastic inherently evil?" which has an interesting twist on the environmental friendly discussion of paper vs. plastic. I think you might find it interesting.

    Ermmmm... I feel like LTT should've watched some other reviews on this to know that this thing does have a lot of the features they think it doesn't - like ability to turbo on any button

      YUP, when in non-switch modes, I think it's press the heart and the button you want to turn into a turbo or it might be the home button but one of the more "Switch-Specific" buttons.

    I am a recent switch owner - I managed to get the OLED smash bros bundle-- while I like the joycons for the modern games, I am a fan of classic/vintage games - and what I want is a good dpad for classic games on the switch online. This is looking promising.
