Based on your color analysis of White Dove, I believe it may be the perfect color for our new home. I really want a soft white that’s not too warm. I’ll go test it! Thank you!
Yay! Test Simply White too if you don't want something too warm.
I just did an accent wall
In a south facing bright upstairs room and I paired Valspar motor city blue w behr blank canvas and it looks great ! The Valspar Motor city is navy leaning but the blue vs the black/ gray shines through nicely !! In case folks need another blue option
I have White Dove throughout my home, living/dining room, entrance and upstairs hall using color drenching walls in eggshell sheen and trim in Satin. My floors are warm bamboo flooring and needed a true neutral. The inside of my front door and door casing is Hale Navy and love the contrast.
Oh I love hale navy too!
Does the white dove have a gray tint to it?
@@Optimustron962 it has a gray undertone, but that really just works to neutralize the yellow in it.
This video helped me so much thank you!
what white with you paint your white cabinets in the kitchen if you select white dove for the walls
Very thoughtful analysis. Great job! 👏 In the bathroom, would one try to match the tub and toilet to the trim/wainscoting….as opposed to following any white/cream in a wallpaper for the trim/wainscoting.😮😊
I mean some colorists would say yes you should, but I don’t subscribe to that. Your toilet and tub will always be stark white for the most part, and I’m not advocating for doing stark white walls because of your tub and toilet. I’m more concerned with matching your countertops, flooring and tile in the bathroom to the correct neutral color and undertone.
@@homelikeyoumeanit You’re so sweet for such a swift reply. I think your take is very wise. Thanks so much! 😘
What white might you use with Benjamin Moore Springfield tan?
This really helped me so much. 💯. What color do you recommend for whole house in one color. A small house. Thanks.
Glad you found it helpful! I would start by watching this video first. I'm getting my kitchen cabinets painted and I have an open floor plan. I have agreeable gray walls. Is the White
Dove a better option than simply white? Also, what is that blue color on your cabinets? I wanted to paint my island a contrasting color and love the darker color on your cabinets
Hi! The blue is Benjamin Moore Britannia Blue--love it! White Dove works well with Agreeable Gray. Simply White is a bit brighter and will give you more of a pop, but if you really want a softer white, you might find that it's too stark for an off-white.
What color is the white used on your cabinets in the background?
White Dove of course!!
That’s the first thing I thought - “I want thattt color”
If using white dove on walls, what color(s) would you recommend for trim and ceiling?
You can do White dove on trim, just change sheen, which is what I always do. On ceiling you can do a true white like Chantilly Lace.
I am using white dove on my trim through the house. Whatbarebsome soft neutral wall colors that would work well for bedroom & living spaces?
I’m going to do a video on this soon, but if you are doing a neutral color, you want to make sure the neutral color and its undertone relates to your furniture, and other fixed elements. In the meantime, check out my blog post on how to choose the right paint color, which should give you a good starting point: homelikeyoumeanit.com/how-to-choose-paint-colors/
What trim and ceiling color pairs with White Dove? Or would you suggest White dove in a different shee?
I like Chantilly Lace for ceiling color (that's a clean white and gives a contrast between wall and ceiling) and then I just recommend using satin white dove. for the trim.
@@homelikeyoumeanit Do you recommend using the same satin on the walls and the trim? And should ceilings be flat if using Chantilly Lace.
@@simplefaith777 eggshell on walls, satin on trim/baseboard and flat or matte on ceiling.
I want to color drench most all the rooms in a soft white on our home build rt now .
So far white dove I’m
Leaning towards BUT it gives off a slight pink undertone when I have it lined up with the other off whites on the wall .
Is this normal and it goes away once whole wall ceiling baseboards doors are painted in it?
Im also sampling Alabaster & simply white which is beautiful but it maybe too bright for color drenching 🤷🏻♀️
The off-whites paint family keeps me awake at night 😵💫🥴☺️
I have really never seen white dove have any pink in it. Is this a color match or sample from Ben Moore? You could also go a bit warmer and sample colors like oyster white.
Also, wait until floors are in to make your decision or at least compare floors to paint color.
Thank you!!!
I pretty much decided on white dove especially bc it will be pretty with my light gray marble tiles jn bathrooms .
But I’ll go pick up a swatch for oyster white and see how they compare 😃.
A video suggestion bc I can’t find anybody doing - best creams/off-whites/nutrals to color dench interior of homes in .
I was really afraid to go with LRV’s above 80 because I just didn’t want it “too bright” but white dove seems to be soft enough to use it that way .
@@Alykat736 Hmm if your marble isn't the creamier one and more like Calcutta, oyster white won't be the ticket for you. White Dove should work in that case. Thanks for the video suggestion. I'll put it on my list!
Great video! very informative! What color are your floors? are they hardwood or laminate? Thank you!
Thanks so much! Here is a link to our floors. It’s engineered hardwood. znetflooring.com/mohawk-seaside-tides-sea-salt-oak
Do you think the greige undertone in white dove will offset any yellow/orange tones from old wood floors?
So hard to know without seeing it, but I can tell you that if your floors are like that you definitely want a warmer white like white dove. When you test, if you think white dove is too creamy for the floors, try Ben Moore Simply White and see what that does.
@@homelikeyoumeanit thank you so much! I wanted to like swiss coffee but i think it will be to warm for our 1930s red oak
white dove walls with what color ceilings?
I’d go with a clean white on the ceiling like Ben Moore chantilly lace
If I want white dove on walls would that work with white shaker cabinets? What SW color would you use on ceilings and trim?
If your cabinets come in standard white shaker cabinets and this isnt as creamy as white dove, no it won’t work. Your best bet if you want to do white on your walls is to go have your cabinet door color matched. You don’t want stark white cabinets next to off white walls, something will look off!
What color are the cabinets behind you- the blue and white
Blue is BM Britannia Blue. White is BM White Dove
What white colour is on that cabinet behind you?
Hi, this is Benjamin Moore White Dove!
@@homelikeyoumeanit thanks
I painted my walls White Dove. What white colour cabinets would you recommend for my kitchen?
If you want to go with white, you need to go with white dove on your cabinets too!
What color is that blue behind you?
Benjamin Moore Britannia blue. I love it, but it is dark!
@@homelikeyoumeanit it looks medium here in this light, I really like it. Just painted an entire five Englewood cliffs by BM. I like your blue better as it is more “blue”
I would like to do my cabinets in an off white and my kitchen island in a bluish gray. Blue with a hint of gray. What is the best combo. I don’t want to make a wrong choice.
Are your countertops/backsplash already in place or is this a remodel?
@@homelikeyoumeanit Remodel
@@Optimustron962 Got it! you must evaluate those first and see which white relates best. Then you can move on to your blue color. I have many blues I love and list out in this video: ua-cam.com/video/iMR9B6931ZI/v-deo.html I do also offer virtual color consultation if you are interested: homelikeyoumeanit.com/hire-me/
How does it compare with Marscapone ?
Mascarpone is a cream and significantly more yellow than White Dove.
What is the paint color on the built ins
BM Britannia Blue
It IS the quintessential neutral off white that doesn't clash with ANY color. In my experience, it makes up a large percentage of all Benjamin Moore colors sold. Both White Dove and Chantilly Lace (literally white base paint with a few drops of gray colorant, so it is a stark, clean white) are SO popular, it is unbelievable. There are 3,500 colors to choose from and SO MANY play it safe with these two. Yawn.
Why mess with the best?!
Where does Swiss coffee come in?
Swiss coffee is much warmer that white dove. It’s actually a GReige with a very faint green undertone. If you want something creamier and warmer on the walls and have mostly warm tones in your home, go for it!
Thank you. We did it yesterday and it came out great. We did it at 50% lighter which is I think more white.
How about in a basement?
With no windows? You’re better off doing a pale neutral. Whites/off-whites can go too cold in spaces with low natural light.
@@homelikeyoumeanit one window. It's already painted a light gray.
