I used White Dove at your recommendation, and the sales associate told me I'd love it when i bought a sample. I do love it, such a great wall color. Thanks
Wow, loving your descriptions of the whites. Picking the right white is tough. I chose simply white in my last place, it worked for the space (scandi minimal) but was surprisingly stark. May circle back to cloud for my new place.
I'm currently in the same situation and have the same mild reservations about Simply White, thinking about going for Marscapone instead. I want to color drench my tiny studio apartment so I'm _aaaaagonizing_ over this color lol.
The reason I like your show is that you go into nuanced colour. I like colours that look different in different light. I had a bright white paint on my walls and it looked like primer and unfinished. Walls that scream. Paint me.
I've used Chantilly Lace on all the wood work on my jobs but I've just switched to super white to give it s try. I painted a spare door and split it in half, then painted each colour side by side. Quite a noticeable difference between the two...
@@nikitabonita37 I've not started the job where the super white is going to be used yet. The difference by looking at the two together is the Chantilly Lace is a warm tone and super white is definitely a cool tone. It looks grey/blue next to Chantilly. But put super white on it's own and it doesn't look that "in your face" blue/grey. Looking forward to using it.
I used Mascarpone (AF-20) to link a few other colours from the historical collection and I love it, it’s the perfect rich cream if like me you can’t live with harsh white
I wanted a warm white, so like many I went through Swiss Coffee, Cloud White, and finally White Dove, and for this colour it was mere curiosity because it's so popular. I went with WD. I walked in as the team were painting the primer, and I loved how bright the primer was. When WD went on I was disappointed with how unbright it was. So, James, I get you when you referenced WD's lack of brightness. I wasn't crazy about the green undertone either. I started loving it. I did some more styling, changed my decor, and recently I am enjoying when the sun shines on it in the morning. the creamy undertone is beautiful. In the afternoon it cools down and it still looks good. At first, I was upset with it, and my friends and condo mates came in and asked, 'what don't you like about it? It's gorgeous, it's fine, it goes with everything.' And that's my story about White Dove. In future I will go brighter though.
That is great to read! I am working on this right now and it’s all about the undertones. I have, and love, a lot of my family’s furniture, though, so changing my decor is tricksy… If you read this, HOW did you approach changing your decor (I assume you didn’t purchase all new things-?).
@@ltvanburen8555 I changed my decor and colour palette slowly, as it needed to be updated anyway. I understand you wanting to hold on to your family's furniture, so whichever white you choose ensure that you place the sample behind your couch and pretend the sample is the wall. I changed my couch, the style, lighting. Some furniture I kept. It's all a slow process. I find now I really like White Dove, and I prefer the green undertones to the yellow undertones. My secondary colour is October Mist by BM, so it all goes well!
Simply White trim looks very nice with Revere Pewter in our bathrooms. Exterior is White Dove with black 2132-10 shutters, really like that. Navajo White is a good one in north facing rooms, just a bit more creamy. We have friends who used NW on trims, cabinets and walls and it works.
I’m using Dove Wing for trim as I don’t like bright whites… pale oak walls and ceiling for a bedroom perhaps muslin in the hallway with lots of doors and trim in d.w….
This was very interesting. I was leaning toward Swiss Coffee to repaint my condo but another design poster said it can read a bit green because of its undertones. I have such a hard time with color that I am reading Joseph Alber’s book (just for me; I am a retired school teacher). For about 30 years, I painted every place I lived in BM 335, Delightful Yellow, because I have struggled with depression my entire life (Light and more Light!). So I am in a constant flux, wanting to do something different, but being truly afraid of the wrong decision. Painting was fun and easy until I turned 60. Now everything DIY is a big commitment… Sorry for the ear-full. If you do read this, I would appreciate your take on Swiss Coffee in regard to the undertones.
Thanks for the comment! Swiss Coffee would definitely be impacted by the lighting that you give it. Luckily, it's warmth is more creamer rather than yellow/green based on my experience, but it all depends on the room itself!
Have you tried using their higher-performance (forgot the name) primer first? It usually helps with the number of coats afterwards, especially for whites.
Hi, will you please make a video that explains what to do if you paint over oil based paint with latex paint. And any other paint mistakes. I enjoy your channel. Thanks
glacier white, moonlight white, snowfall white. this the perfect trifecta for different uses and waaaaay more interesting and with complex colours balance than the whites listed here. I"m considering Steam for ceilings though.
Hey there, love the video. Wondering if you’ve had a chance to try out BM Vapor, and if so, what did you think about in comparison to Steam? Thanks again!
Thanks for your video! I’m thinking about painting all of my walls in my cabin Dove Wing. It wasn’t mentioned here. Do you recommend this for walls? What would be a good paint color for the baseboards and interior doors? I have light medium wood trim around all of my interior windows. My floors are on the dark side. Thanks!
I’m a big fan of Mayonnaise OC-85. Downside is the name itself and the fact that the guys at Ace can never spell it properly to find it in their system.
A lot of people use white dove on trim and baseboards too, letting the difference in sheen differentiate (you can probably find pics online). Simply white is also a beautiful trim color with WD. I’ve seen some designers go with Chantilly lace which gives you the most contrast since it’s a clean white. Just a few ideas for you until James has a chance to respond ;)

I wanted a white home office so I took a chance with White Dove. Beautiful. So calming.
I have cloud white on my trim and it is exquisite. The way it warms up in the afternoon sun is just gorgeous. I love to sit and stare at it lol
That a great recommendation!

Is it still white color and does it give off green cast? Thank you
I recently used SW Shoji White on all my walls and trim with Snowbound on the ceilings. Love it!

BM's Ballet White looks beautiful. So far, I've only painted a sample, but I think it's going to be my bedroom color. Has a calming effect on me.
It's a fabulous color. I've used it for ceilings, trim, and I've had custom shutters dipped in it too. Can't go wrong with OC-9.
I use White Dove on all my ceilings.

So many options to check out! I'm also very interested in BM Mascarpone.
Would you recommend using a (possibly super white) white trim when using swiss coffee as a whole house paint?
BM: Paper Doll (CSP), Seapearl, Cotton Balls, Mountain Peak White
Great info!!! I love whites, especially BM!
I haven't use it yet but I'm really into shoelace by behr. To me it seems like a really interesting, and slightly dark white.
Hi, will you please make a video that explains what to do if you paint over oil based paint with latex paint. And any other paint mistakes. I enjoy your channel. Thanks
It'll scratch off. You need to prime oil based paint before putting on latex. No, it doesn't matter which base for the primer.

Yes!!
Confirmed my choice of Swiss Coffee all over the house. Of course, now I have to find the money to paint the house. Haha.
How did it turn out?
@@jaquelineamarante2907 had to replace every glass door and window in the house. Wayyyy expensive. :(
@@janicelindegard6615I think she was referring to the paint color results? 😐
@@Iamteramonique yes. We didn’t paint because we had to spend more than $13,000 on windows and doors.
Thanks for clarifying. Definitely understandable! 😊
Can you please review White Down Benjamin Moore?
Trying to decide between Super White and Paper Mache for a garage
What color trim would you recommend for Distant Gray?! Really wanting to use it on my walls but so unsure about the trim
Which color should I look for if I want warm white, creamy but that it doesn't give off green cast? Thank you so much.
Is super white good for walls and ceiling? You didn't mention ceiling for it.
When did BM get rid of Trillium White?? Before HD came to town that was the cleanest pure white available!!
I’m a big fan of Mayonnaise OC-85. Downside is the name itself and the fact that the guys at Ace can never spell it properly to find it in their system.
I like Simply white and intense white
What white trim and ceiling color would be good to use with white dove walls?

Just a few ideas for you until James has a chance to respond ;)
I loved your input on all these!!! 🤍
