I love the new intro! Thank you for sharing some of your Wynn trip and great VP play. I really enjoy your proper play explanations. It is very helpful!
Hello John. I watched your video poker a lot!! And a Learned a lot from it for sure. I do appreciated your efforts to all the videos!!! I am wondering, when do you change the denomination? From $1.00 to $2.00 to$5.00. Is it every 300, 400 hands. Or is it if the machine is cooperating to give? I play video poker at Graton Casino at Rohner Park Ca. They do not have the full pay of the Bonus Poker (They have 7-5) or any of the machine. Thank you much....
Hi Alex, Thank you for subscribing, for your comments, and for your viewership. If you have 7/5 BP at your casino, then, that will suffice. You may also want to go check out, Cache Creek, for 8/5 BP, if they have it. I’ve never been up there in your area, so I wouldn’t know. It’s very important that the Bonus Poker that you play pays 10 on 2 pair, 125 on 5-K, 200 on 2,3,4’s, and 400 on 4 Aces…..don’t play the ones with anything different than that. Also, what’s very important in 7/5 or 8/5 Bonus Poker, is that the “bottom of the pay table” (Full house, Flush, Straight, 3 of a Kind, 2 pair, & JoB) are all hitting fairly regularly. (Especially the 2 pair hand). If you’re getting a good variety or mixture of the “bottom of the pay table” hits (especially the 2 pair hand), then usually, the Quads will eventually hit too (every 425 hands on average). You’ll also see a lot of 1,2,3, or 4 to the Royal hands come your way, and if the bottom of the pay table has been keeping your “bankroll safe and secure”, then eventually, those Royal shots will convert. If the machine is just rolling along well with the frequent 2 pair hits, then stay on it, and when a Quad comes along, or a Bonus Quad (2,3,4’s or 4 Aces) comes along, go ahead and “up” your coin denomination. I’m willing to utilize the whole Quad hit on a higher denomination (even if I throw it all back in) and I’m right back where I started with my original bankroll. That’s ok, you’re risking “House Money” on bigger coin play instead of your own money. That’s how the Big Royals should be won (in my book)…Using House Money! Let me know what you find at Cache Creek up there. If you would like more in-depth personal coaching from me, feel free to support my channel at the Gold level at www.patreon.com/join/videopoker. That way, you’ll have access to me by phone, by text, and by face time, if need be, and I can help you tighten your game. Thanks for watching!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Hi, John, I always look forward to your vlogs because of the intros... Interesting and very creative. Love the correlation with James Bond and Las Vegas and the title: Once Is Not Enough is very imaginative. You might even become a great film maker with the way your vlogs are coming out. 🤔😉😊 Anyway, again, excellent tips. I've learned so much from the VP superstars - you, Slotmassacre, Bigkat's Poker, Doc's Gambling, etc. In all the years that Mark and I have been gambling, never hit the royals (except on my tablet 😄) until last December in Hammond, Indiana and three last April in Las Vegas when we met up with the VP group and so I thank you all! Whew, this is the longest comment I've made. Sorry to bend your ears. 😄
Thank you, Jo, for your thoughtful & sweet comments. 3 Royal Flushes in April….Awesome! I guess that would erase any dry spell you were having. Congratulations! I wish I had the time, knowledge, and skills to produce better film making, so I sort of tip my hat to Hollywood a little in my intros. Looking back on my college years, I should have chosen film school. But still, I do enjoy playing around with it. Thank you for reaching out to me. I enjoyed meeting you and Mark at the El Cortez! Take care.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
I was very surprised the Wynn still offers 8/5 BP at the dollar demon, let alone the lower demons! Back in the day I used to grind away at the Wynn on low demon 9/6/90 JoB. They offered many different promotions to "earn a buffet" or spin on a promotional game. We enjoyed many free buffets at the Wynn. It was almost as good as the Harrah's "passport promotion." A guest could earn $50 in free meal vouchers daily by visiting three different properties. All that was required was waiting line at the Total Rewards desk and getting your passport stamped. Anyway, 3 of a kind can be frustrating when they don't convert to a 4OAK or a full house. 3 of a kind accounts for 22.34% of the total return, while 2 pair accounts for 25.86% for 8/5 BP. John, you have often correctly noted the value of 2 pair in terms of variance and bankroll management. We should also give some love and respect to 3 of a kind, even though the hand can be frustrating at times. Your friend, Mark
I always appreciate your “history” with not only video poker, but also with Vegas itself, and appreciate your taking the time to provide all the delicious details. Of course, your knowledge of the probabilities is top notch and I learn from you every time you mention just about anything regarding video poker or Vegas. And, yes, I was very surprised to find that 8/5 BP game at 25¢, 50¢, and $1 coin too. I wonder if it was overlooked by someone and they don’t realize that it’s there. What are your thoughts on that? Was it overlooked or are they just “testing the waters”….? Thank you, Mark, for your great contributions to the channel.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
@@johnsworldofvideopoker I don't know? 75% mistake/25% testing the waters. How many machines? What other games were available? A local near me had one machine with a variety of full pay games in lower demon prior to the pandemic. The one machine was a mistake. This was at a Native American casino with weak management.
Thank you, Mark! I was meaning to ask you about NSUD Deuces Wild. Since there’s only 4 Deuces in the deck (and the player is “co-dependent” on them to “manage” the game), What is the frequency of occurence for 1, 2, 3, or 4 Deuces to make an appearance in any given hand…..🧐?
2:51 Great hit with the Straight Flush, those are hard to come by! Amazing to know that there are full pay Bonus Poker at quarter level on a mega resort on the Vegas Strip.
Thank you. I’m in the process of re-building a bankroll for more significant play at higher denominations later this year. I generally prefer $2, $5, or $10 coin denominations, so that lucky hit could have been one for either $500, $1,250, or $2,500, but there will be others. Yes, that 8/5 pay table could be a “test-marketing” strategy on the part of Wynn to measure it’s viability of attracting more video poker players to their casino. I’m definitely gonna keep an eye out on the video poker offerings at the Wynn. It’s a nice quiet place to play. Thank you for commenting and subscribing!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
you said keep the small pair versus keeping the open ended straight draw? @3:40 2 cards hit the 8s yet 8 cards to hit the open ended straight. Just wondering the thought? Love the commentating during your play. Thank you teacher. :)
The best you can hope for in going for the open-ended straight is a straight. But the small pair is actually one of the most powerful hands in 8/5 Bonus Poker because it leads to so many different wins: you can hit JoB, 2 pair, 3-of-a-kind, Full House, and Quads. So when you hold for the straight (and there’s no guarantee that you’ll hit it), you’re giving up all those other hands that the small pair is leading you towards. Great question, practice on a simulator that “warns on mistakes” and over time you’ll become an excellent player and you’ll be surprised on the wins you’ll achieve. Thank you for your comments, viewership, and especially the timestamp so that I could go directly to the hand in question in the video. Practice, Practice, Practice, and you’ll see a dramatic improvement in your win rate!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
MISSED YOU!! I wish you would tell every video poker player about holding a suited Ace+Face. I have seen way too many royals missed with holds for an inside straight with suited royal cards. I do not play Bonus as you know but my thinking is any time you have components to a royal hold them. I lived in the Dallas area for 15 years and 25 years totally living in TX. I don't miss the tornados, losing my roof and fencing several times, not to mention nearly all my dogs were nearly swept up one afternoon. It is good for a visit and driving up to Oklahoma casinos. GREAT LUCK JOHN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you, Janis. I enjoyed getting a glimpse of the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. WinStar casino is the worst in the world, no legitimate video poker offerings there at all and they have over 10,000 Slot machines!!!! Biggest Rip Off in the Universe of casinos that I’ve ever seen. Thank God, I didn’t play there!😂 I’ll get back to Texas when I have more time and explore their cuisine. Outside of California, I’d probably choose Florida as a place to live. Thanks for the best wishes! I’ll be at Red Rock this Sunday!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
@@johnsworldofvideopoker Red Rock - wow- Sunday. My hubby works there M-F. I REALLY would love to go all the way out there. I would love the live live goosebumps watching you. Maybe I can have my daughter drive me out there....BTW love you new intro. My bestest friend still lives in TX. I flew out there just before Covid and we went to Choctaw and WinStar. Oddly enough I won at Winstar. There were 4 machines off in a corner (Deuces Wild) I hit 4 deuces on 3 of them and $1000 on a slot machine (hate them) but my friend loves them so I was playing nearby her on a slot.
I would probably learn more from watching your play than your watching of mine. Plus, I would like a tour of the machines that you play there. In all likelihood, I would come away from that experience a better player than I am now.
@@johnsworldofvideopoker So in BP the four card open straight (at least two high cards) is the higher ranking hand. The two card royal flush is mid ranking hand. The four card inside straight (at least two high cards) is the lower ranking hand. Player's (even here on UA-cam) often conflate the last two hands and miss out on a potential royal flush. Janis, raised a valid point. How these hands are played separates the boys from men or should I say the girls from the women in this new progressive world. LOL
Thank you, Mark, for your precision in explaining these hands. You can see why, I want to meet, Janis, too. She’s hit many times more Royal Flushes than I have and I would love to watch her play and talk strategy. That also applies to you!😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Thank you, Ron! I’m back in the saddle again, ready to ride! That was my wife and my stepdaughter heading into the Encore Spa😂Thank you for your continued support!
Thank you, Valerie. There's just so much GREAT about Encore/Wynn. I love all the incredible restaurants there, the rooms are impeccable, the Spas are top notch, the pools, etc. They've thought of everything in advance, and everything, is 1st Class all the way, and then some! It's the ideal place to spoil anyone. This was a very brief visit, but I'll be featuring more on the Wynn/Encore experience in the future. Thank you for commenting & for subscribing to my channel!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
That’s one way to do it, and another way, is to leverage House money back through the machine for even bigger wins. I’m very conservative and risk adverse with my own money, but have no problem throwing House money around. It’s not 100% guaranteed, but so far I’m ahead in that exchange. Who knows how long that will last!😂🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
john Im going to be in las vegas 5/24/22 do you know of any single line .25 double double next to new york , las vegas? or could i use a work around like play on a 100 hand machine but just play one hand?
Your best bet near the Strip would be either South Point (or even closer) would be, Palace Station, which is 3 miles north of Caesars Palace. They both have great pay tables on the 25¢ denominations. I prefer Palace Station because their High Limit area is much better than South Point’s is and they’re closer. They both have 9/6 DDB at the 25¢ denomination. Good Luck!😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Greetings from Torrance! Hi John! A lot of us love your play, but I keep forgetting to thank you for your awesome video intros! I have been thinking a lot (while gardening) about why people play certain games. Some for a rush, but with video poker, I believe that the people who are most interested tend to be more analytical. I was talking to a friend about Jiu-Jitsu and he had told me that many people who learn are engineers ("Nerdy types" in his words) because they love to analyze the techniques. Many of your fans are realizing that proper play is very important. Learning proper play, but also understanding why one way gives more of an edge than another is truly eye opening. Thank you my friend for all you do! Truly appreciated! Paul
Thank you, Paul, for your gracious compliments. I appreciate that and I always learn things from you too along the way. It was so cool to bump into you again unexpectedly mid-week at Pechanga. What a pleasant surprise that was! I’m headed to Vegas this Sunday. Hopefully, I can catch a few good hits. Take care my friend!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
I’m loving the vids, very entertaining as well as informative. Do you use any other simulator sites that are not subscription based and/or do you use a poker software that has a VP sim/trainer in it? Thanks.
I recommend the WinPoker app available on iPhone for a one time cost of $9.99. It’s the best and it goes with you everywhere for in-between practice sessions when you’re out and about. I don’t recommend using it in the casino however. It may be construed as using an electronic device to defeat a machine in a casino…..?🌎
Yes. When you have 4 cards to a flush or 4 cards to any straight flush, you hold for the flush or the straight flush and don’t hold the small pair or a high pair.😁🌎
Hello John if you have 3 card to a royal but also 2 jacks what do you keep? Also if you have 3 face cards of different suits, one is an A what do you keep?
Hi Teresita, A 3 to the Royal is a 1 in 1,081 long shot, and 2 Jacks will convert to a JoB (or higher) every 1 out of 3.2 times held. So hold the 2 jacks. But if you had 4 to the Royal & 2 Jacks, always hold for the Royal Flush. When you have 2 face cards of different suits, along with an Ace, let the Ace go and hold the 2 face cards.
Hi John. Great to see you're back. My wife and I are video poker players and planning our first ever Vegas trip. Any suggestions on where to stay and play? We just need a room (nothing fancy) and some hot machines. We're not into the Vegas Strip scene. Thanks for your help! I almost forgot....why don't you hold the ace when you have say Jack, Queen and Ace of different suits when playing Bonus Poker?
Thank you for subscribing and commenting. Hopefully, you’re getting in some practice on a simulator that “warns on mistakes” to minimize your errors. Stick to 8/5 Bonus Poker (if you’re in it for the money). South Point has great games at lower denomination of 25¢, 50¢, $1, and $2 coin denominations, but they’re not good at the higher denominations. Red Rock is the best video poker casino in the world (let alone Vegas) in terms of great pay tables at all coin denominations. It’s 12 miles West of the Strip and is a video poker player’s dream. SunCoast casino is a cheaper version of Red Rock, but it’s conveniently located about 3 miles away from Red Rock, it has good games, and it has very affordable rooms. So if you want a cheap room, stay at SunCoast but PLAY at Red Rock. If you’re flying into Vegas, then you’ll need to rent a car to do the Red Rock thing. But it’s totally worth it. Or you could stay & play at Palace Station (3 miles from Caesars & slightly off Strip). It’s a great casino in terms of video poker. If you’re unable to do Red Rock or Palace Station, then, South Point, would be the place to stay and play. Holding the Ace with 2 other unsuited face cards is a “no-no” because it limits the number of straights that you could potentially receive, not to mention, you’re blocking getting 4 Jacks, 4 Queens, and 4 Aces. Your best bet is simulator practice to learn proper strategy. Good luck!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Thank you. And Absolutely, Yes. The Wynn buffet is second to none, has a beautiful ambiance, and is priced perfectly well. Encore/Wynn is the my favorite place in every category there is in Vegas. Try breakfast at Tableau or Jardin (if you haven’t already). Cheers!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Thank you, Yvette. You would love the Wynn. Go there for breakfast at Tableau at Wynn or Jardin at Encore to treat yourself to a really special experience. Use the Wynn App or the OpenTable App to book reservations in advance so you can just walk right in. You’ll really enjoy yourself. Thank you for watching and for your comments.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Thank you. My iPhone was so crammed full of photos & videos I couldn’t launch videos due to lack of memory space. I had to go out and get an iMac-mini desktop, a larger monitor, and decent speakers so I can keep up with production more effectively, plus I took a side trip to Vegas, Laughlin, Flagstaff, Albuquerque, Dallas, WinStar casino in Oklahoma, the Grand Canyon etc. The new equipment will help me get to my goal of launching 12 videos a month. I feels good to be back in action again!😝🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
@@johnsworldofvideopoker I want to check out winstar... if you don't mind me asking what program do you use to edit videos? I'm not great at editing my videos yet I made an intro but I can figure out how to put it in my videos
WinStar is a complete waste of time and they’re only interested in nailing players to the wall. It’s a Major rip-off and I didn’t spend one penny there. It’s a 300,000 sq.ft. Casino with 10,000 slot machines and only 4 Game King video poker machines that only went up to $1 coin denominations and all 4 were off-line!!! They had some off-brand video poker machines there as well but very few and they had horrendously bad pay tables. The decor is very cheesy and not luxurious like you’ll find at Caesars, Wynn, Encore, Cosmopolitan, Venetian, Palazzo etc. The place to go in Oklahoma is Choctaw, Durant. Sandia in Albuquerque, New Mexico was high end and beautiful but only had good games at the $5 & $10 coin levels on video poker where it should go all the way up the scale with $20, $25, $50, & $100 coin denominations. There’s ONLY 3 places worth playing video poker in America: Vegas, Southern California, and Reno. Yes, you’ll find a few good games elsewhere, but very few. You need competing casinos with high denominations up to $100 coin to make a go of it. As far as making videos goes you’ll need an iPhone and use their iMovie App.
@@johnsworldofvideopoker when I went to Vegas I found alot of bad paytables at alot if casinos.. I played mostly at cosmo at the 5 dollar denom if i lowered my denom it was not full pay.... my only regret was not paying at red Rock or south point however im going back to vegas soon so ill give them a shot... where I live they have pretty decent video poker but mostly for DDB and TDB the bonus poker is mostly 7/5 unfortunately... Thank you, Vicki. My goal is to produce 12 videos a month. You will be seeing more and more of them as time goes on. I was on a 3 week hiatus and I need to get back on track! Thank you for commenting and subscribing!🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
I could go several different times and yet every single time, I end up with the same exact losing patterns. Then there are time it gives you 2 hands and takes it all back no matter what machine it is, so as far as I'm concerned something isn't right
The pay table in video poker is what dictates our experiences on any given session, so it’s helpful to know what we, as players, are up against. There’s approximately 2.6M hands in video poker. 1.4M of them favor the House, and 1.2M of them favor the player. So a player’s session (800-8,000 hands) is a very small “sampling” of those 2,600,000 hands. The cards come out randomly as a mixture of good and bad hands. But just as there are mediocre sessions & bad sessions, there are good sessions, as well as, some really great sessions. That’s why it’s so important to continually practice on a simulator that “warns on mistakes” to minimize errors. It’s also crucial to ONLY play low volatility games (9/6 JoB, 8/5 Bonus Poker, NSUD Deuces Wild) with a payback of 99.54%, 99.17%, & 99.73% respectively. Then, most importantly is “micro-managing” the bankroll, which is an “Art” unto itself. Having access to these games with a wide-spread of denominations (all on one machine) is critical too. If the game is “rolling” keep stepping up to higher and higher denominations to benefit from good hits at high denominations; if the game is not going well, then keep stepping down the denominations to “preserve bankroll” or switch to another multi-denomination machine that’s on a roll. But volatility is to be expected. The good news is that because of “randomness”, anything can happen. On the lower denominations that means hitting a Royal Flush (rare), but on an ultra-high denominations even “mid to bottom of the pay table” hits can be great (and they’re more frequent). Winning in video poker takes a lot of effort (as well as luck). These principles can help you navigate the games.🌎
Hey John, great trailer at the beginning. as far as filming goes, do you have to get permission from each casino? or do you just record and wait for them to say something to you? I've made Pechanga my home base, it's the closest one to me here in Redondo, not to mention the best casino in CA, and I'm toying with starting a channel. I'm wondering how to go about it... any whoooo...keep them coming, we've missed ya! see you at the top!
Thank you for your comments. Vegas is more UA-cam friendly than local tribal casinos. You can always go to the rewards club and ask if it’s ok to film your sessions. That being said, at tribal casinos I don’t even ask because the answer may be no, so I just wing it. Vegas is the place to film. I hit several tribal casinos in New Mexico and every one of them freaked out about it!😝 We’re so fortunate and spoiled to be in SoCal & close-by to Vegas.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Thank you. It was just a “warm-up” session for the small amount of free play ($50) that they gave me. I was actually surprised to find an 8/5 Bonus Poker pay table at the 25¢, 50¢, & $1 coin denomination at the Wynn. They’re usually set at the 6/5 or 7/5 pay table level in a high end Strip casino like the Wynn. It just goes to show you that hidden gems can be found occasionally on the Strip. I just stuck with this machine to the extent of my free play. I generally prefer to play on machines that allow for more denominations at the upper end such as $1, $2, $5, $10, & $20 coin, so that if the machine goes on a wild tear, I can keep upping the coin denomination to ride that wave for bigger wins. But it was a very pleasant surprise to find this machine at the Wynn. I hope it stays put. Thank you for subscribing and for your comments.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Hello John. I watched your video poker a lot!! And a Learned a lot from it for sure. I do appreciated your efforts to all the videos!!! I am wondering, when do you change the denomination? They do not have the full pay of the Bonus Poker (They have 7-5) or any of the machine. Thank you much....
Hi Alex,
Thank you for subscribing, for your comments, and for your viewership.
@@johnsworldofvideopoker Where is the machine you were playing on with 8/5 bonus 25c? I want to try it next week when I'm there.
Are you referring to Vegas or SoCal?
I enjoy all your videos.. thank you
Thank you for watching and saying so Beverly.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
That also applies to you!😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Good video John. And good title also. The Wynn is my favorite casino. Thanks for sharing. Ron.
Thank you, Ron! I’m back in the saddle again, ready to ride! That was my wife and my stepdaughter heading into the Encore Spa😂Thank you for your continued support!
Thanks for video. You got a lot of play out of that $100.
Thank you, Linda. And it is not over on that $100. I got it to last for 6 episodes. The best is yet to come out of that single $100 Bill.
Great intro!! Love the Wynn/Encore. Hope to see more of that trip.
The key to video poker is to have a huge checking account so you can keep firing bullets . Period.
That’s one way to do it, and another way, is to leverage House money back through the machine for even bigger wins. I’m very conservative and risk adverse with my own money, but have no problem throwing House money around. It’s not 100% guaranteed, but so far I’m ahead in that exchange. Who knows how long that will last!😂🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Hi John ! Hope you and your lady are well, THANK YOU so much for the videos.

john Im going to be in las vegas 5/24/22 do you know of any single line .25 double double next to new york , las vegas? or could i use a work around like play on a 100 hand machine but just play one hand?
Your best bet near the Strip would be either South Point (or even closer) would be, Palace Station, which is 3 miles north of Caesars Palace. They both have great pay tables on the 25¢ denominations. I prefer Palace Station because their High Limit area is much better than South Point’s is and they’re closer. They both have 9/6 DDB at the 25¢ denomination. Good Luck!😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Great as always John, cheers!

@@johnsworldofvideopoker Thanks, I’ll check it out when I get a chance.
Your comments about Winstar are spot on! It’s closest to me, but video poker is awful. Nice to see a new video!
Thank you, Donna. They tell me that Choctaw, Durant is the place to go. The next time I’m in Texas, I’ll definitely hit Choctaw.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
You hold for a straight flush even if you have a pair?
Hi Teresita,
A 3 to the Royal is a 1 in 1,081 long shot, and 2 Jacks will convert to a JoB (or higher) every 1 out of 3.2 times held. So hold the 2 jacks. But if you had 4 to the Royal & 2 Jacks, always hold for the Royal Flush. When you have 2 face cards of different suits, along with an Ace, let the Ace go and hold the 2 face cards.
@@johnsworldofvideopoker thank you🤗
You’re Welcome!😂🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Just the information I needed! Thanks so much John!
Anytime, you’re welcome. Keep me posted on how it goes! Good luck in Vegas.🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎

Good to see you post a new video again! As always very informative 👍

Good session…did you leave that machine???
