I would tell people not to just look at the wins, but how to stay in play by changing the bet. If you had just stayed at one dollar credit, this would have been a 5 minute video. You are showing people how to survive the times when the machine goes cold (and they all go cold at some point) That's strategy. We all love to see big wins, but I really love the strategy because it is more long term and it is measurable. Keep up the great work my friend!

You have 20 minutes to finish x number of games; I've forgotten the exact number (300?), but 98 per cent of the 250 or so people in the tournament finish them. 5 sessions of 50 people each. Each person plays once on Friday and Saturday (in November it's Monday and Tuesday). You have to be invited and then stay at the Cal, Main Street or Fremont.

Great. Thank You! I’m was long time video poker tournament player at Caesars Entertainment before they discontinued hosting them. I won 1st place in their last Big $150,000 Video Poker Tournament for $25,000 in October 2019. Then, the pandemic came around and wiped all the tournament play out.🥹🌎
following your guidance i went to Lauberge dulac in lake Charles Louisiana. sat down at a machine and played for 3 hours put $100 in cashed out 110. wished i lived closer to Vegas or at least the gaming was better closer to Texas.

Hi John! So glad you warned about the Palms. I worked across the street and watched it being built. We went on opening night, general public admission and a few times a week for "lunch". lol I carry earplugs when I am at any other than my little local. The Circa was horrendous. I had some decent luck there too but I will not be going back, ever. Watching the news right now, Elizabeth passed. I watched her coronation on TV when I was a kid. My mother is older than her, alive and well. My luck is streaky now. Up $5000 down $5000. You know how it is. Question- when you were substantially up, why didn't you switch games?
Hi Janis, I assume that you once worked at either the, Gold Coast or The Rio, since both are right across the street from the Palms. The Palms was quite an exciting place when the Maloofs were running things. I remember that the, Gold Coast, was quite the video poker “place to be” back in its’ day. The sound level at Circa is off-the-charts loud and for that reason, as well as its bad restaurants, are reasons why I never go there unless the guys want to hit the place. The Palms is just a tad “less obnoxiously” loud than Circa and it can change a good mood into a sour mood very quickly before you’re fed-up as you run to the door to preserve your ear drums. So happy to hear your Mom is in good health. My grandparents lived until their mid-to-high 90’s as well. I’m not a “game-switcher” unless I’m massively “up on the casino” by at least $20,000-$40,000. I’ll “retreat” to 9/6 JoB in order to “protect the bankroll” when 8/5 BP goes into a dry spell, and on occasion, I’ll hop on 9/6 BPD at Pala, once in a while for a “quick-quad” win on it. But 99.99% of the time, I won’t wander away from 8/5 BP. I’m extremely patient with the game. The “thrill” for me on 8/5 BP, comes from knowing that the Royal Flush is always on its way towards me. It’s not a matter of “will I hit the Royal”…..? But rather, which denomination will I be on when it does hit? As long as the Royal that hits is of the $8,000, $20,000, or $40,000+ variety, I’m a happy camper. And I’m willing to wait it out for that to occur.😁🙌🏻🙌🏻🌎
Across from the Palms was an office building. I left the casino floor for a time. I went to Title and Escrow companies. I was a corporate accountant for the biggest one in Vegas. My background is numbers. It was and still is my fallback job. Get tired of crap and switch. I got into trucking too. Went over the road. Bought my own trucks. Too old for that now. I started out 55 years ago in Law school.
If you are looking for good pay tables at the Palms I would hurry. Two sources, Las Vegas Advisor and VPfree2, have indicated that the 9/6 JOB machines have been removed (LVA did say they may be present but they couldn't find them). There is no BPdlx, 99.64% which if 9/6 is 99.6% compared to BP 99.17%. There are a a few DB and DDB games, twenty-five cents to $1, which are high variance. One thing you need to look at in games which pay 100% plus like these DB and DDB is that they are often not eligible for players club points or reward - you might want to check if this is the case at the Palms. Yaamava owns a large casino in Highland CA and they do have JOB and BP, $50-$100 and their BPdlx and JOB games pay tables make both those games 98.4%. These BPdlx and JOB games are the first $1 minimum games. I wouldn't be surprised if the removal of the JOB 9/6 games at the Palms is a portent of awful paytables for the player like in California.

Of course, in Southern California, Pala, has tremendously good pay tables on all denominations $2, $5, $10, $20, & $25 coin, so I don’t particularly need the Palms, per se, but it did look like they put in a lot of video poker machines in order to pass themselves off as a vide poker house. And, yes, while surveying the video poker landscape at the Palms, I was sure that all the good games were “just for show” to set an “impression” and then slowly, little by little, that they would take them all away in the dark of night. I was pleasantly surprised to see the good pay tables (in the moment), but I wasn’t overly charmed by anything else at the Palms. The overly loud music would keep me from going there much, no matter how good the games were. There are plenty of good 9/6 JoB & 8/5 BP pay tables elsewhere throughout Vegas in their High limit rooms.

You may very well be right on your “particular” game of choice and that’s great to know! Just like here, in Southern California, Pala has 9/7 pay tables on high denomination coin games and then adds a progressive onto it to boot! But since, my particular “go to game”, is 8/5 Bonus Poker, and the fact that Red Rock features that pay table on 9/6 JoB & 8/5 BP at $1, $2, $5, $10, $20, $25, $50, & $100 coin, there’s a very good chance of my hitting Royals on every one of those denominations. The only coin denominations “missing” in my portfolio of Royals are: $10, $20, $50, & $100 coin. Once those have been achieved, I’ll branch out in to other games.
