Love the Karin markers! My husband gave me a set of 63 (60 markers and 3 blenders) for Christmas last year and I love them! They work well on watercolor paper and on Bristol Smooth!
They are on my wish list. Thank you for teaching on them. I thought they were like zig water color brushes but you pointed out they were markers.... beautiful calligraphy...
Simon, I have been watching you for a few years and never commented before, so first time commenter here. I love doing messy watercolor. I bought the 72 count pack of these because I like the neons. One way I like to use them is to scribble some pigment onto a palette and pick it up with the brush to paint onto my card. Sometimes I find laying it directly onto the project I lay down too much pigment, so I find this method easier to control especially on small images.
Hi Simon, i ordered one Karin brushpen a few weeks ago to test, they're amazing! I have the metallic silver and its so pretty! Good solid color, and if you pick them up with water the metallic shine stays! So cool! I'm gonna get more of those pens
Enjoyed the specifics shown on papers and compared to other marker choices! Have already too many marker choices and can’t even say I know WHEN to use one over the other...perhaps a great new video for Simon? :) No new purchases for me until I’m MUCH color-smarter! TFS
I’m super SUPER late to the Karin Marker Party BUT I just caved and got the Mega Plus Box!! I am still really excited so I’m going back and watching all the old Karin videos from my favorite creators for inspirations :-) Between the markers and the Brusho I also ordered I am thrilled for this holidays card making sessions !!
Thank you so much for the video Simon. I received my order last week and tried them on normal cardstock. The results were not good and I had wondered if I had made a mistake buying them. Then tried on Bristol and they were great! Need to play some more and you have inspired me to do that. Love the box ❤️.
I love love love my Karins. I’d been saving my pennies and they were well worth it. I got the complete set plus the neons. My cards look like they’ve been watercolored even though I’m not a talented painter, certainly not as good as Simon. I use them on watercolor paper and the Bristol Smooth - they work very well on both. Cannot recommend them enough.
I think you just solved 1 of my problems!!! Cardstock is my issue , was my issue!! Thank you Simon !! The markers look amazing. Maybe you can try using them with stamps !! Actually color the stamp ????
So I totally got suckered into the packaging, but they turned out to be jucier and blend better than any other water based markers that I have, but they have to be on Bristol Smooth paper. ♥️♥️
This was very informative, I hadn't thought of trying different types of cardstock for blending purposes. Thanks for the demo...BTW, you have me beat on calligraphy, you did a nice job!
Hi Simon, love the brush lettering. Maybe you could do a collab like you did with the foiling. Maybe stamp your sentiments with a very soft colour and go over it with these water colours. Maybe creatie an alphabeth stencil🤔
There are so many water brush markers on the market. It would be great (only if you own them!!) if you could do a side to side comparison and whether they work together. Our crafting pennies are a bit more scarce these days with covid, so it would be good to have an informed opinion before investing. A few I’m interested in are zig clean colour,- the original of this type as far as I can tell...Arteza, Windsor and Newton- a fine arts water colour brand, typo, artiste, Karin, Altenew and I think that’s it... I’m interested in the sustainability too..are they refillable, can the nibs be replaced, are the barrels recyclable or made of recycled materials? Do they blend, are they diluteable, do they all work with Bristol smooth? Ok ... so I’ve probably given you enough questions to make 3 you tubes! I really love your Christmas baubles stamp! I know it’s not pc to comment but I’ve been watching your UA-cams since you were a wee tacker and it’s lovely to see you mature into the person you’ve become! I hope you and your family stay safe and well.
Last question, which one has a ubiquitous fair / dark skin colour marker... I find that really challenging with these textas- especially if you, like me are not great at blending out the water colours.
Ok, You know I adore you so what I have to say is meant in the kindest way possible. 1.) the opposite of Dudes is Chicks. But hey, you do you. I just don’t like being thought of as an offshoot of a dude. Maybe just me. (I may have just shown you how old I am! Lol ) 2.) you can’t really compare these to Copics as Copics are alcohol based and these are water based. I think a good comparison would be the watercolor markers that I think Windsor and Newton released about 18 months - 2 years ago. I was all prepared to pull the trigger on these when I realized that I had gotten one of the W&N in a subscription box and I really liked it. Wanna do that comparison? That would be great. Lastly, when doing a watercolor comparison it should be on a quality watercolor paper. Something 100% cotton like Arches. I think Fabriano makes a good one as well. It’s important to use the appropriate media because one of the brands may be made for artists and one may just be made in a pretty package to attract crafters. I hope my words are making sense. Keep on making these great videos. You seem to be reading my mind. 🤗🤗🤗🥰🥰🥰⭕️⭕️⭕️⭕️
I was surprised when you mixed the pink marker with the yellow marker and got a beautiful shade of orange. Usually when I mix pink with yellow I get mud! Question: Can alcohol markers be used with water to blend the colors? These markers gave consistent bright colors even when blending with water, but I think they are not alcohol markers, right?
Zig and these Karing are pretty much the same. The difference is basically the tip. The Zigs are a REAL brush. Bothe can be blend WITHOUT water. Using two markers of the same color but different shades. Actually is the BEST way they work and keep their pigment. Karin are extremely pigmented and juicy.
Love watching you create!! But, Hey Dudes and Dudettes is not my forte. I’m sorry it’s just not how I want to be referred as. It just rubs me the wrong way. How about, Hello everyone. Sorry this is just my opinion but I do love your techniques on cardmaking.
Hi dudes and dudettes!
I hope you enjoyed today's video and review helpful. :)

It’s all about card stock and the blending . I like the way you tested them. Thank you

Great demo of these markers especially showing us the difference on different paper/cardstock.
Thank you. I’ve been looking at these and your video helped to see how you can use them. 👍

Taylored expressions added them recently. Tempting...love the Caligraphy tip
Love the technique tips and examples

Thanks for this video, Simon. I've had the 72 markers set for about 6 months and have yet to use them. This gives me some inspiration.
Yay! Definitely pull them out and start coloring. :)
I love them and may have to add them to my collection.
great video, have just purchased basic colors, so good timing for me to see how they worked.
Fabulous review! TY. I already own Arteza & Zigs so I’m not sure if I’ll purchase these but I’m very tempted. The colors are gorgeous.

Yay! Glad you love them so much... I am having tons of fun with them already too. :)
Do you find the tips of your markers wearing out quickly when using them on watercolor paper? How well do the tips hold up for you?
@@pamelab7871 I haven't had any problem with them at all. I'm not very heavy-handed though so I would imagine that that would make a difference.
Lots of inspiration Simon! Thanks! 😊
Thx for your videos,I look for them when I go on UA-cam!
Thank you, Simon. This was really informative and helpful.
I was looking at these, so thank you Simon!!
Great review, Simon! I haven’t taken the plunge yet, but I may have to after you very thorough review 😄❤️
Good job love the markers Thanks :)
I use Bristol cardstock for EVERY marker coloring..Zigs, Tombows...even Copics! Is the BESTEST for color blending!
Amen! I love it for anything markers. :)
Very good video, thank you for your tips.
I think you just solved 1 of my problems!!! Cardstock is my issue , was my issue!! Thank you Simon !! The markers look amazing. Maybe you can try using them with stamps !! Actually color the stamp ????
I had not heard of these! But man, the packaging alone has me swooning! Will check out
Right?! That packaging is AMAZING. :)
So I totally got suckered into the packaging, but they turned out to be jucier and blend better than any other water based markers that I have, but they have to be on Bristol Smooth paper. ♥️♥️
@@brandewester-inkspireart3195 Oh boy, I'm tempted! But I have Zig markers I hardly use. Decisions. Decisions! I tell ya!
they look great
This was very informative, I hadn't thought of trying different types of cardstock for blending purposes.
Thanks for the demo...BTW, you have me beat on calligraphy, you did a nice job!
Thanks so much! Yes, cardstock is super important... if you aren’t getting great results test out different papers. :)
There goes the next paycheck! Thanks Simon. LOL.
I AM really tempted to buy these markers now!
Hi Simon... thank you for your informative videos. Please consider a video on pencils vs copic vs karin. Differences and advantages of each?
Hi Simon, love the brush lettering. Maybe you could do a collab like you did with the foiling. Maybe stamp your sentiments with a very soft colour and go over it with these water colours. Maybe creatie an alphabeth stencil🤔
Great demo. I’ll stick to perfecting my coloring with what I already have.

I love these! I just did a small video on the neon ones here on my UA-cam channel and I can’t get enough of them!!!!
Thank you for this.
Great Demo

Great job! Love these markers, but are a little expensive...I think at times you get what you pay for!😎

No I'm sticking with all of mine... Great video though. Course I can change my mind....lol Oh I love that I'm rethinking Simon!!!!!
I think I’m in trouble....I already have tombows, zig real brush pens...not sure how different these are

I prefer the tips on the Karins... it seems that the nib puts out color a lot easier to get extremely pigmented results. :)
These are my favorite watercolor markers and sadly I have several brands
Hi from Greenville WI.
I thought the blender made the ink move and didn't look nice and crisp...but looked nice otherwise!
❤️❤️❤️
These pens are watercolors....I think you need to use more water as if you are watercoloring.
