These are so beautiful; I can watch you watercolor for days; I’m always amazed how daintily you can put down color; I work like an ogre with big old fat fingers. LOL GORGEOUS!!
So happy for your son that every one is willing to look out for Nathan's best interests. So may parents cannot seem to do that. These cards are lovely.
Your stories are so funny, love them. Thanks for standing up for teachers. They are over worked and under paid for the hours they put in. Your videos are stunning.
Both cards are lovely. I have Zigs, and I enjoy using them! Before I went to law school, I was a teacher in a small Tx border town (near Uvalde, Tx). I was paid $4900/year, worked around 60 hours/week, had 30 kids/class for 8th grade English in a tiny classroom without air conditioning, and the kids came to my classroom straight from P.E. I spent tons of my own money on supplies and on deodorant! One year of that was enough to change my career path. I loved teaching, but I couldn’t afford it! God bless all the dedicated teachers!
You make painting with watercolor markers look really easy. It’s not that way for me. Loved story time! I chuckled through all of the school supply shopping. You brightened my morning. It wasn’t that difficult when my boys were young. The school supplied most of the items needed, and the things on the list for parents to supply wasn’t nearly as specific. Don’t we all have a love/hate relationship with Amazon!
I often buy art supplies for the giving tree at Christmas and I am all about buying the Crayolas too. Kids deserve crayons that actually color. I can't believe it's time for school already! I saw a bus this morning and thought it's too soon, Summer can't be over yet!
Beautiful cards. I love the color palette you picked. There are lots of teachers in my adult kids friend group - thank you for supporting the teachers and your son’s education! I always send my daughter in law extra supplies for kids whose families need extra help filling in the supplies for the kids. My mom and grandma were both teachers and they say Bravo to you and your ex for putting your son first before your differences. Hope your son has a good year 😊
Wow…third grade already! I feel like I started watching you before his being in kindergarten. How time flies! I have to try working with my zigs more. Watching you, it makes sense until I try it. It kills me that teachers have to buy so much of their classroom supplies. I’ve donated art supplies to my grand kids schools and the oldest’s after school program. Also the nursing home my mother is in. They’re Rec dept has no budget allowance.
My son & nephew (my sister's son) are both red green colored blind as well. Both of my grandpa's were colored blind also. Love, love, love the cards!!!! So beautiful
I LOVE my Karin markers!! And you always increase my knowledge base on how to use them. Thanks Kelly! Love your videos and cards!! With you being so talented with colors and coloring, it must be hard on Nathan not to see the colors the way you do.
Thanks for the Karin marker video. When my kids were in grade school I stopped buying supplies prior to school because the district in my area made the lists. Teachers would regularly say they didn’t need a particular item.
Thanks for doing this Kelly! Loved the comparison. I’m surprised how much they look alike! I only have the Zigs and have always thought the Karin’s looked so much more vibrant. Also it’s SO good to hear someone say “you don’t need this” 😂😂😂
Thanks for the comparison,Kelly. I always wondered about the Karin markers; also for clarification that you don’t really need both sets. I wish Nathan a wonderful school year. He’s really growing quite quickly. Glad everyone is back to being healthy.
Such pretty cards, Kelly. I have neither Zigs nor Karin markers. I would like some but not sure, I already have so many coloring mediums that I don't get to play with often. So thankful you are all able to be adults about things for your son's sake.
Thank you so much Kelly for talking about the plight of our teachers. Our daughter is a teacher, and there is a real shortage of teachers which means she now has double the normal class size to start off the school year this year. On a different note, I love watching and learning from you watercoloring.
I like the comparison. I have the Zigs. Don't use them enough. You've peeked my interest again. I remember those school days re parents, step.. and siblings with different last names. I can't believe the cost of things now .. You do have to compare even in our crafty times. Beautiful cards. Love the colors.
First time watching you. I have to say it was great to hear that you and your ex-husband work together for your son's benefit. I also am friendly with my ex-husband for my children's sake. You are very right our situation is very much unique. Very lovely cards. Thank you for the comparison, it helped me realize I didn't need both types of markers.
Love both cards . I have all the zigs. There are 130 now with all the new colors they added. Still learning how to use them . The colors are beautiful. Might want to also try the Karin markers. Love all your tips on using them Thank you so much Kelly 💖
Thank you for supporting teachers, agree they are very unappreciated and under compensated. I like comparison video, I personally am like brightness of Karin markers.
Beautiful cards! I appreciate you doing the comparison of Karen and Zig markers. I am still in the process of purchasing my craft supplies a little at a time as I get more and more into making cards. I enjoy your stories and I am wishing your son a great school year!
Beautiful cards! I really liked the comparison of the two brands. I have about 8 or 9 zigs that I have had for years and just haven’t bothered getting more. I will definitely check out the Karin markers.
Oh Kelly, I laughed (in an "Oh Gurl, I feel ya" kinda way) the WHOLE way through this video! I can only shake my head and agree with you about those back to school days... Thank God I am past that part of my life. These cards are LOVELY by the way! I wish I had a 5th of your coloring talent. As far as your dislikes, the only thing I can think of is that the music stops abruptly and then you are watching your beautiful coloring but in complete silence. Maybe that was it? IDK.
Thanks for the video, info and fun fun fun stories all of the time!!! I have been the lurking in the background crafty gal. Now to get both of my sets Karin and Zig out of the back of the shelf and play
Amen to that! Teachers are very much overlooked, uncompensated (or not enough! People expect teachers to teach developmental skills, even potty training (in PK & K), teach manners, parents should be kids first teachers!
So pretty. I gave up on Zig markers. For the life of me, I could NOT get them to water out without leaving the line of color that I put down. I tried all kinds of papers and had the same issue. I was able to scribble them out and pick up color, but if I do that, I might as well just use regular watercolor. I guess waterbased markers are just not for me. You can do magic with them, so I will just enjoy your art and stories. Those images are tempting, tho’
Pretty cards Kelly. My .mom was a nurse and she and the other nurses from time to time had trouble reading drs. orders back before everything was digitized. The drs even had trouble their own and each others' writing at times.
Danielle, I'm a nurse too. And you're right, some Dr's do have a hard time reading their own writing! I used to work in the ED, now in private practice, omg one of the Dr's writing is like trying to decode secret encrypted documents!😉
Great video. I have the Karin’s and always struggle so I’m glad you showed how to do it. These images are really cute too. Anyway I always have better luck for school supplies at Office Depot or staples. Not sure if you have those but most people don’t go there so they have a good selection and run similar sales.
Both cards are great! Cute stamps sets! I have been reluctant to use my new Karin markers, so you’ve inspired me! Ps. My dad and my son are red-green colour blind, too. I’m a carrier, as I guess you are, too.
Great cards, love my Karin Markers. I feel your pain on the Walmart online ordering. I order groceries for my elderly mother and any subsitutions are upsetting for her. Used to be a place to click 'no subsitutions', not sure if it's still there.
Lovely cards and super helpful video as I just recently bought a small pack of tombow markers so I’m looking at what to buy to make it more useful, especially as I want skintones and a “red” that isn’t actually hot pink. I don’t know if this online shopping outside of schools is a new thing or if it’s less common in Australia. Right up until my son’s last school, a school in Melbourne where we moved for his last 1.5 years of school, we bought supplies mostly from the school. If the school wanted the kids to have something super-specific, they’d sell it in their bookshop. Once we moved and I had to go to a store, I felt all at sea. At least that store - although WAY overpriced for uniforms - wasn’t a walmart, and it catered only for schools. It’s whole function was schools so they knew EXACTLY what the schools wanted and made shopping pretty easy. Kelly: $5 for a binder Me: Mm not too bad. The difference between US prices and Australian prices!
Wow, school supplies sold BY the school! There would be an outcry by soooo many different interests if they tried that in the US. It is fun to learn how the rest of the world operates.
@@anitasorensen9058 It was what happened when I was a kid so moving to retail outlets is a shift. I suspect, based on all the “back to school” sales that retail shopping is more common these days.
I've been meaning to get some watercolor markers so I'm so excited that you made this video - very helpful. I also love the fact that you've been doing shorts; they're like rabbit holes on social media that are easy to get lost in. 😆 I watched the recent one with the honey jar and I thought it was incredibly cute. I did notice that the music cut out a few seconds into the short which may explain some of the feedback you received (👍👎). It was a little distracting while watching the video, but I finished it anyway because I'm a huge fan of your artistic skills. Video shorts usually attract viewers that want instant gratification so if one minor thing is amiss, then "zoom!", they're swiping onto the next. Anywho, I hope this feedback helps! You're amazingly talented and I hope that you continue to post UA-cam shorts anyway! Have an awesome weekend!
Beautiful cards. Thanks for doing a comparison. I have the Zigs, like them, and have trouble buying another similar set. Also, I'm with you on the school supplies. Bought the Crayola pencils as we have experienced the 'others' (he does have a set of Prisma colored pencils for at home).
I knew you were going to say kids school supplies before you said it. You didn’t even give much of any clues yet and I had started thinking about it 😂. And yes shortage of teachers because they don’t want to go to work with the stress when they could find another job making the same paycheck.
This was AMAZING. It looks so effortless. Kelly don't make think I can do this hahaha! Amazon is ridiculous 🙄 that's gouging on another level! Take care!
I keep watching your videos with Karin markers. I’m still learning their possibilities but question, what papers do you prefer with your Karin’s and zigs?
I have Arteza real brush pens. Have you ever used them? I don't see buying a different brand unless I thought it would be a significant step up. I don't even actually use them that much, but when I use them I enjoy them. And watching your video makes me want to go get them out.
I do have them. I didn't find a super significant difference. You can check out the comparison video if you'd like :) ua-cam.com/video/aXvs9QwSEEY/v-deo.html
Beautiful cards and such a wonderful family. I was wondering if you could mix and match so you can sub in some colors from zigs that might be missing from the Arteza. Also, have you used both to color one image?
Lol, I can almost guarantee you that stupid purple highlighter won’t even be used 😂 Yeah, I hate replacements, but then again, it’s so much more convenient than actually going in to the store! Beautiful cards, as usual 💜
