Ola Englund Oh dude, man The Merciless Distortion by Airis Effects, though Oh wow, I don’t know if you would, but that’d be awesome if you made a video on that one, man! It’s their take on an HM2 but they made the dirt and grime more clear to hear, it’s a monster! 🤘🏻
Good morning Ola! It's great to wake up to another one of your fantastic videos! I'm already sold it ntbe metal zone and have always been attracted to it. Also, finally grab Feared on Apple music and love it. Thanks Ola!
Ola Englund can most or any Distortion Pedals go into “Return” of effects loop??? I thought maybe they had to be Preamp Pedals only. Thank you for your help as to I’m really not educated enough about wattage and safety of electronics.
This is honestly the most versatile pedal I've ever owned. It does warm clean tones, it does slightly raspy clean tones, it does down in the mud blurry tones, it does fuzzy, it goes grity and it can make the thickest or thinnest, grainiest distortion around. I love it. I can't say enough about it. Buy it and you won't regret it. It is a genuine workhorse of sounds.
Your sitting there playing guitar... You want distortion... You see a pedal up ahead... You plug it in, engage it... You have just crossed into... The "metal zone"...

Yeah. People didn't hate on the HM-2 until the snobby djent losers came out and started shitting all over everything that wasn't boutique and outrageously expensive. Note: not everybody who likes djent is a loser. Just the snobby ones
I'm the opposite. I think the HM2 is terrible but think the MZ is actually very good in an fx loop. Better than most high gain pedals imo. It has such a great low end punch. This waza version is probably even better in the loop, especially considering the custom mode is a lot like the analogman mod which is killer
That right there is to me the ideal metal sound when he busted out the 7-string. That is just utterly monstrous and thundering sounding while staying nice and tight sounding as well with plenty of clarity. Of course it helps that Ola Englund is playing those killer metal rhythms as well. Boss did well choosing him to demo this pedal. I already own the original, but I'm definitely buying one of these new models as I love the change of tone that the custom mode provides.
Looks and sounds exactly like the one I got back in the 90s . With a more custom feel .They got a bad rap from people hooking them to crappy amps or not using them correctly if paired with a boss EQ pedal makes it the most versatile distortion pedal on the market . Through recent )2019) experiments with my Boss ME-80, I have discovered a hidden asset to the Metal Zone pedal(s). When you scale back the gain and some of the EQ settings, the end result is a (subjectively) desirable classic hard rock/proto metal tone. Outstanding for me in my *fool’s journey* to emulate the various tones created by Tom Scholz during the evolution of the Boston sound.

Just got my Boss Metal Zone 2 Waza in today. After not playing through a Peavey VK100 Head/Cab until recently...a combo I picked up a few years ago and let sit, I decided it was time to buy some pedals. I picked up several used and some new. I love how much low end you can get out of the metal zone. It's almost like they let you go too far in every EQ direction to give you the flexibility that it offers. That right there is beautiful to me.
I've had my metal zone for 15 years or more. I freaking LOVE that thing. Now I have to have this one also! Shit Ola THANKS for being freaking AWESOME and making me spend even more money! Oh well NO WIFE = HAPPY LIFE!
I’d use a lineswitcher (like a Boss LS-2) to switch between the MT-2 and something with a much smaller amount of distortion like a blues driver or even just an EQ pedal if I wanted a completely clean tone. When you’re live and playing with loud metal drums having a bit of breakup on a clean(er) tone is useful.
Awesome demo on the metal zone again! I think the Overdrive ad is a killer call. Do you think this would work with a solid state amp FX loop (no power tubes and all)? I'm amazed how good a pedal can sound without preamp tubes.
Ok so yes, typically running a pedal through an FX return (even an expensive one) has a dull and unusable sound, so what is making the metal zone different?
I had no desire for this pedal until I watched the NIN rig rundown and saw Alessandro running one in his live rig because it's exactly what Reznor actually used for the guitars on Broken aaaaaaaand now I kinda want one

Ola's latest demo video made the Metal Zone look so good, they decided to reproduce it!
Ola vid on my bday thanks mate!
I love how much low end you can get out of the metal zone. It's almost like they let you go too far in every EQ direction to give you the flexibility that it offers. That right there is beautiful to me.
Yeah, But when are the making a Waza Craft Heavy Metal HM-2W?
Love the green on the guitar!!! Bough the MT-2 back in 2005 for my Fender Frontman 25R... Since then I have a 2009 Mesa Dual Rectifier EVH 4X12 \m/
Love the Swedish Death Metal sound
Volár Ferenc me too!
Ola, you looked so happy in this one. Awesome.
I've had my metal zone for 15 years or more. I freaking LOVE that thing. Now I have to have this one also! Shit Ola THANKS for being freaking AWESOME and making me spend even more money! Oh well NO WIFE = HAPPY LIFE!
Hell yeah been using mine forever too for about 20 yrs still slays, might have to get this too, sickest yet
You can get a wide variety of unique tones out of that thing. I’m impressed. And surprised.
Looks sweet
Oh man, I usually play country type tones but because of you I’m playing around with the “chug”...great review!!!!!
Next solar guitar should have a dimebucker :)
When Ola mentions Dimebag, i zoomed in on the settings. 😆
With an MT-2w going into the Return, how would you go for clean guitar sound, especially for a live situation? Just curious.
I'm sure going through the Satan doesn't hurt, plus the way you mic the cab and set it up.! You rock SirOla!
7:45 just listen to the seven string part, damn
Glad I hung in there, without the OD pedal it was solid, but stacked with the OD it was incredible!!
Awesome demo on the metal zone again! I think the Overdrive ad is a killer call. Do you think this would work with a solid state amp FX loop (no power tubes and all)? I'm amazed how good a pedal can sound without preamp tubes.
Yes but the Boss Katana doesn't have an effects loop :(
The Driver does it? Wish they would've added it to the 50 watt version then.
Ok so yes, typically running a pedal through an FX return (even an expensive one) has a dull and unusable sound, so what is making the metal zone different?
@@primalmythic386 what about looper pedals? they work so much better through the fx loop.
Mad props for the VF-1 on display atop the Satan, that kinda steals the show for me. The MT-2W is awesome as well, but that Valkyrie just nails it!
O.o do you have your right arm tattooed so you can remember what hand to pick with???
I had no desire for this pedal until I watched the NIN rig rundown and saw Alessandro running one in his live rig because it's exactly what Reznor actually used for the guitars on Broken aaaaaaaand now I kinda want one
