That clap had me convinced that my computer had just shit itself.
Same here.
it was stressful
Necrobaker666 I was so stressed out it wasn’t funny(except that it was fucking hilarious)
Necrobaker666 same with my iPad
i repeated that part to check if my phone is ok 🤣
Scoop's Law: Any distortion pedal with a mid freq sweep is instantly polarizing.
This would be me putting a scoop and sweep control on my big muff....
@@rowlandstraylight imo, muffs NEED mid and freq controls!
@@jpizzleforizzle Deluxe big muffs for guitar have parametric mids fyi.
Ola should make a drum sample pack with his claps.
The Ol-Blast pack.
Perfect for house music producers lol
And some burps
His guitar riffs are boring and sound all the same.
@@jmorbid7319 That's why you need to buy his clap pack instead.
Can’t believe it took that long, the fullbore Metal is an extremely powerful pedal
I really love how it sounds actually. Very old school death metal.
Entombed and Dismember
@@velipyr i don't think it quite sounds like the HM-2, at least not the HM-2 like Dismember and Entombed used it. If anything, it sounds a bit more like Edge of Sanity. I have no idea what they used.
Alot of haters on this pedal, I love it, it's on my pedalboard. You can change the tone also, it's very versatile.
@@mr.fancypants698 yeah, it seems like modern metalheads hate anything with balls. Anything that isn't this perfectly tight rev 120/6505/dual rectifier boosted with a tubescreamer sucks apparently. I personally like my distortion to be a little noisy and fizzy, metal is supposed to be extreme and abrasive.
+@@JustinBA007
Exactly! I play hardcore/punk rock, and metal as well, this pedal sounds great for that type of music as well! You gotta have some grit, otherwise, to me it doesn't sound good. Keep rocki'n bro!👌👍🤘🤘🤘✌😎
I’m still waiting for something that won’t chug!
There was a fender amp here that didn’t chug, it only farted
@@aitorcfh8416 the metal zone always sounded good. But only through the fx loop lol
Ola could make my shit chug😂😂😂😂
The squier amp definitely did not chug
It all chugs! Just turn up the gain!
Hi, I've got this pedal. The bees come from the High knob, you better keep it at minimum and play with the treble in your amp. Also gain shouldn't go beyond 1 o'clock, it becomes mushy. Below that, you got enough distortion. If you mix it up with a little overdrive in the amp it really starts to shine. My settings: Freq at 2 o'clock while Mid at 3 o'clock, High at cero, Low at 10, Gain at 12 o'clock.
That clap 😁😁 Was so good, that i almost threw my phone 😂😂😂
this pedal sounds like what people say the metal zone sounds like
With more flexibility
X2
Ngl I use the metal zone😂😂
I disagree. I have a metal zone, and this pedal, is WAY louder, and, I don't know, it just has a different tone. I love the metal zone, but this one probably is my favorite.
Hi @@mr.fancypants698!I'm the proud owner of three pedals that mean metal stomp! I mean MXR M-116 (Fullbore Metal), Boss MT-2W (Metal Zone) and out of production EHX Micro Metal Muff ! I think if people can set everyone of them are simply awesome! In particular, Fullbore Metal really sounds different because of enbadded noise gate and mid scoop switch, MT-2 is too noisy ! In particular, Fullbore Metal really sounds different because of embedded noise gate and mid scoop switch, then it works especially well on solid state amps, it incredibly sounds DIME !!! If 'U want Dime's tone, there's no way, 'U need to buy a Fullbore Metal ! I say it again, "Dime tone" ? MXR M-116 Fullbore Metal
MXR fullbore metal is the best distortion tone I have ever purchased you have to really dial in carefully, then you will find that it can push low end and get the speed and thrash metal tones you crave. Love your channel Ola! Chug On!
Me too Its my all time favorite distortion pedal!!!
Man, looks like Ola has finally got into YTP.
WILL IT CHUG? Find out by subscribing to my channel... or watch this video.
Love my fullbore. Definitely one you have to get used too.
Funnily enough, just bough the pedal a few weeks ago. I'm absolutely loving it!
I bought it around a year ago and i love it
Finally!! I suggested this a while back, good to see its finally getting some shine. I love mine, thing crunches pretty nicely.
So many thanks for checking this pedal man , I was one of those people who requested to check it and thanks again awesome😉 👍
I've been playing this pedal for many years. Easily one of my favorite distortions of all time. Out of all the distortions I've tried I always end up going back to the fullbore. Sounds massive stacked with fuzz. I usually run it after a black arts Pharaoh. Absolutely love this pedal!
This Pedal is amazing but definitely not the easiest to manage .
Sounds amazing for everything I like. Put this on a layer in a mix, fantastic.
I have this pedal, I LOVE IT. I run it into my Fender M80, I've got the noise gate ON, the scoop ON, bass up 85%, mid at half & treble full. I LOVE IT. I just need an extension cab.
This pedal sounds surprisingly amazing on bass
I had one and i play bass, i never got to try it, i heard a recording of it and it sounds crazy. I wish i never sold that petal
Yeah no mids
It's quite the sound to hear
Taste is something funny, to me this is easily one of the best and most brutal distortion pedals ever. I've got a lot of distortion pedals, among them the Boss Metal Zone, a Big Muff, an Akai one I forgot the name and others.. and I've got to say this is my favorite one.
THE BEES!! NOT THE BEES!!
awesome vid! Had this pedal for a while but I now use tube amp distortion...So much better.
This pedal comes as close to PanterA in a box I’ve ever heard without the neee for an overdrive. Just ordered one as a backup in case the amp/modeler goes down.
I actually liked how good it sounded through your tube rig. Having played it through inexpensive solid state combos I didn’t care for it then. I think you made it sound pretty damn good compared to what I remember. Lol.
I love this pedal (on my 3rd as I always miss it when I sell it)! There is a trim pot inside for the gate btw :)
Watching Ola demonstrate that he has no idea how a parametric EQ works? Priceless.
And by the way, that 'Scoop' button functions almost like a loudness control on a stereo receiver. It didn't just scoop the mids. It also boosted the lows.
There’s a trim pot in the back to adjust the gate threshold.
The factory setting for the gate definitely needs adjusting
Calvin Robinson I’ll just play it through a noise suppressor like I do the metal zone, to get rid of his and feedback, I don’t think the gate on the pedal has that kind of power to do that...!
I now have one of these, it’s AWESOME!!! CRUNCH for days!!! And the noise gate works like it’s supposed to, but i don’t use it, I still run it through my NS2 in case I decide to use my Metal Zone, that way it’s already on and I don’t have to hit 2 switches!!! No can of bees here, this pedal just kicks ASS!!!
I'm not much of a pedal guy. My main chug comes from a mixture of Amp (a 100w Dual Rectifier), a Boss EQ pedal and pick ups (EMG81 and Gibson 500t). But, if I ever buy a distortion pedal, it would definitely be this one!
I love this pedal, it's got a different tone, but it barks loud, and has a big bite!
MXR/Dunlop have a lovely habit of putting trimpots inside the pedal, so the noise gate can be tweaked there in this case
Amazing, versatile, and affordable. YEAH!
Love Ola
There's an adjustment knob on the right side of the left side of the pedal that increases the aggressiveness of the gate. If you turned it all the way up it would have stopped any noise.
Call me crazy but I thought the Fullbore surpassed what you would call chugging.
It has transcended chugging...it is flugging
I think it has a very great tone. Tight and crushing.
Agreed. I love this pedal, it's on my pedalboard, one of my favorite distortion pedals.
@@mr.fancypants698 same, love it.
Agreed
I have this pedal, I absolutely love it. My go to. The only thing I myself dont like is the gate. It is so tight, even after screwing with it for a while, I couldn't find a setting that I liked for it. Awesome piece of equipment
I have this pedal. The trick is to dial back on the "High" knob. I've literally got that knob almost on minimum.
The Gain I have set to about 1 o'clock and the Volume at about 10 o'clock.
Then I route the output into a TS-808 Tubescreamer.
Then into a Marshall tube amp.
Sounds absolutely awesome, both for chugging chords, and also a great high-gain creamy solo tones with amazing sustain.
Guitar is a 1990s Charvel-Jackson Model-3 HSS, with the Jackson stock humbucker.
I love the "creamy" solo tone. Can you dial it back for also use it for 80s hair metal? I may have to get this.
@@xdreampcs8554 Well I've played Metallica riffs and solos with this pedal combination. And you can also add the Dunlop wah pedal in between the output of the TS-808 and the input to the Marshall tube amp (clean channel), and finally add in some reverb & delay, and then you'll sound just like Kirk Hammett !
ps. The TS-808 with its 'Overdrive' knob turned up, output 'Level' turned down and its 'Tone' knob in the middle, is key to this. It takes the brutal output from the Fullbore, compresses the whole thing (increasing the sustain), smooths-out the nasties, and boosts the midrange.
I had this one, when i got it i thought to my self: "this sounds like the metal zone died and went to hell"
I have this pedal and it definitely took a while to dial in the best tone, but it definitely has a good sound once you find it.
I bought this pedal, with my Jackson DK2, Dimebag bridge pickup, through my Marshall half stack......
WHAAAAT ! UNTOUCHABLE!!
WOW. CRUSHING!
That’s a damn cool guitar Ola! One of my favorites for sure
Ikr
I absolutely consider this the best metal pedal i've ever heard. Played on Roland Cube 15 and its killing it
I got one running through a Roland micro cube for a little practice set up and it's amazing
I also had this setup, it was a little orange cube.
Huh...thats what I am "stuck" with currently lol
@@Hohner420orange and Roland are not the same at all hahaha
I called MXR and requested a version 2 with double the MIDS... no plan for V2. It scratches that itch when you’ve got it \m/
been using this for 5 years best pedal for metal. takes time to get used to dialing it in
I have that pedal with the SD power amp and a TS9 and it makes for a great little setup in my room for a practice setup.
I think it sounds pretty bad ass, very versatile, I like the scoops!!!!
Actually I like the sound... Sounds massive! Try using it with the Eletric Eye Mudkiller
How have we not heard a demo of the MXR Dime Distortion pedal from you yet Ola??? I remember it not being such a great product but you completely changed my mind on the Boss metal zone!
GREAT review by the way! Love the content
I own one MXR since a few years ago... I am happy with it! It chugs!
I have this pedal and i really enjoy it! It is VERY temperamental with its tone tho. just like in the video, if you turn one of the knobs too much it could go from great to awful real quick
Love this pedal! Only pedal I use. Only pedal that I've ever found the sound in my head from. Great pedal!
Sounds alot better than I remember it sounding like 10 years ago lol. My favorite single pedals for heavy metal so far have been, Amptweaker TightMetal Pro II, Bogner Uberschall pedal, REVV G3, Friedman BE-OD deluxe or reg version. Also the new Ibanez Pentatone looks really cool, I bet it would pair well with a slightly overdriven tube amp.
I've owned that pedal for a few years. It's definitely a great pedal for both punk and metal.
I don't know why everyone is hating on this pedal, it's awesome! I run it through my randall rg1503 combo and it sounds brutal.
I mean can't you hear it?
@@194Hj the pedal is actually amazing BECAUSE of its versatile range. Those hating on it aren't good at dialing in what they're looking for, and prefer something simple that's basically plug and play. It took me a while to dial this pedal in to my preferred but I'm glad I took the time to do so rather than give up and hate on it. I own 7 distortion/overdrive pedals, and I only use this and the Catalinbread Sabbra. Cadabra.
For reals, though. I have this pedal and think it's awesome, for certain situations. If you're playing through a clean amp, this pedal is great for instant metal tones.
tophatness you guys just like shitty tone.
@@194Hj i guess I just have an untrained ear, taterskin.
That’s probably the most insane chugging pedal I’ve ever witness
This video single handedly got my kids (10 & 13) interested in metal. Thanks, Ola !! Now they ask me if anything bad ass can "chug" .
YES! Been eyeing this pedal up for a while and a will it chug from you is exactly what i need!
Don't get it lol. It's actually terrible
Man seriously don't buy it..... I had it and it sounds like shit.... It's super scooped (like Ola said) and it's bad... You should try it before you buy it at least....I tried the horizon devices apex preamp, and the Friedman be-od and they sound killer.... I mean with just a little bit more money you buy a better pedal
Cheers for the advice 👍
@@carwynvan you would be much better off with a boss metal zone lol
@@samzbieszkowski642 that is actually something I'd love to get, but only if I find a dirt cheap 2nd hand one
6:44 Louise has left the chug
Should've tried some Justice era Metallica riffs when you scooped the scooped sound
Great start to the morning!
Hey Ola. I borrowed a fullbore sometime and I wondered why my speaker cabinet distorted.. Now I can hear the same thing in your video. It is a great metal pedal if you back off the volume a little and don't get crazy with the bass knob
I had one, wish I still had it. It was a lot of fun.
i feel the same :(
I have the MXR Fullbore Metal and it chugs
I’ve owned this pedal multiple times over the years, and it is by far the best metal pedal I’ve ever used for my preferences. Keeping that freq knob right past halfway tends to help with a less scooped tone. I never used the pedals gate or scoop. It’s definitely a sensitive pedal, but when used on different amps/speakers you will need to adjust.
The Celestion g12’s have a brighter sound which I prefer for a thrashier tone. I also used more bass on the pedal to help balance it and it has a gnarly low end. But overall versatile and I keep going back to it no matter how many 2-400 dollar distortions I try. Waiting for a working amp to try the litchaerm audio Gehenna though so 👌👌
Got this pedal 2 days ago, great death metal tone that I was looking for
I laugh every week at the high-pitched "will it chuuuuuugg" in the opening.
Your'e amazing! We all love you! You Chug at Life!
Yes, I have this one. I have always liked it. Sounds Great. Slayer in Nebraska 11-18. I will be on the Floor!
I honestly really like that pedal. It took alot of super small adjustments to get it right. But with the scoop on and the freq up, gain at noon....skull crushing chugs. That's through a Marshall mg100 , into a 90's Crate 2×15 bass cab.....🤘🏻😈 yup, it definitely chugs
That clap caught me soooo off guard😂😂😂
2:00 Butterfly dude be like “Is this an Metal Zone?”
Looking forward to seeing you in Graz with Six Feet Under! I didn’t know you were touring with them again, 👍 respect man
Great pedal! I’ve had mine for 6 or 7 years. One knob fell off but easy fix
On fullbore pedal when I press the scoop button mine shorts in and out. Not the power but the sound. Any ideas?
A giveaway with this pedal sounds like a threat :)
I like it! That's that old school raw thrash/death metal sound, man. That early 90's Cannibal Corpse. Hell yeah.
Fairy Seraphim dude, I thought acid bath!!
@@ericbryant5442 Everybody wants the high mids these days! I'll be the first to admit - I like higher mids. That's what makes Marshall so chocolaty and thicc. But a heavy scoop makes nasty, disgusting filth. We wouldn't have Hammer Smashed Face without it!
Obituary vibes
I've had this pedal awhile, haven't used it enough to say it sucks per say but haven't been really blown away by it. It works good in certain situations though.
who would have thought this pedal would chug!
much wow!
so excitement!
horizons broadened!
I actually liked the tone at 5:20
yea, me too.
I have that pedal. Had a party once and someone stole it. Went out and bought another one because I liked it so much.
Sounds absolutely fire
Been waiting for this one. Now I have to wait for the Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Mayhem!
That actually sounds badass. Wtf!
This pedal is great when you know how to dial it in and in conjunction with some amp/pedal EQ balancing. So to the naysayers in the comments....git gud.
Watching a 4 year old video because my fullbore metal pedal sat around for years and earlier today i got it out to jam, so fun to play on. After jamming i wanted to come to youtube to hear others play it and hear what they say about it. 😅
Are you kiddin me, my face is laying on the floor... I'm stoked!!! I cant wait to try one!!!!!
Am I the only one that thinks that clap at the beginning was “chugging”?
Honestly I just want to buy this pedal for the that it just looks so cool and baddass
love your vids man
Thanks for doing this one. It's one of my favorites!!!! Maybe a Zoom 5000 someday??? You made my DAY!!!!
Also keep in mind about this pedal, it's $100 usd. the Revv G4 is $230 usd.
Was I the only to hear "this pedal got this cannabis"? ^^
No x)

"Very specific type of Cannabis" 😂
...i just wondering about this pedal earlier today
Also, will it chug: metal muff, when?

@@EduardoPinto814 X3
Spoiler alert: it does. Again, better as a preamp.
It does. It's like a Metal Zone but its own flavor. If you like MT2s you'll like it, if all your gain has to be amp style, maybe not so much.
Thanks Ola I have that pedal I run 2 4x12 cabs and 100 watt marshall its a monster ,but want Revv g3 more organic sounding.
I use this pedal. If set right, scoop option works great. Just turn the mid up.
With that frequency turned up it sounds like when you’re pressure washing something 😂
I have this pedal , and for me the scoop is really useful to get more clarity in the low end, being that I play an 8 string
I LOVED THIS ONE
It chugs! It has a certain tone. I really dig the Fortin head you are using!
Hola ola, I’ve found that a treble booster in front of a metal amp gets it well into that chug zone and no one is talking about it. I built one myself with a silicon transistor and tried it out of curiosity and sounds pretty brutal.
I have this pedal and it sounds good to my ears. Definitely not like a can of bees
i had this pedal in my first thrash band to push a bunch of ibanez solid state gear
this thing was cool for the noise gate, but you needed a good battery or a solid 9 volt to make it shine
Not every setting on it is great but it does have its sweet spot. I use it with a 10 band EQ to get it just right with a good warm clean on the amp. Also the gain as you’ve found doesn’t have to be pushed very far to get it ridiculous.
