It’s really sweet to see them all sharing the hay.

Multitasking... good idea. Luke says, "I know my place Dad, and that Icelandic is in charge!" With your help he gets his share. Sweet boy Luke. ❤❤

Very interesting. Luke was very cautious about coming in for some hay. It looked like he was expecting some grief from Yoka but she was fine with sharing.

Good information and interesting that the gut sounds would be like listening to a seashell. Even on the hooved farm animals never ate off the ground, it was one of the ways we were taught to limit parasite re-infestations along with other issues. Cool to combine feeding with getting them used to the tarp.

A win win today. Protecting against sand colic by feeding on the tarp and also getting them used to stepping on the tarp.

Thank you so much for the information on sand colic. I moved to Florida in November from Michigan. I've been so worried about it ,as were I have her boarded she is on sand and dirt. I have a barrel she gets her hay and feed in. But of course some will fall on the ground which she will sweep up. I've been giving her sand clear every month and pre and pro biotics every day along with vitamins. They give coastal hay here, so I also give her a small coffee can of Timothy pellets in the afternoon with electrolytes. I think I'll buy a tarp tomorrow to put under the big barrel. Thinking about sand colic really worries me. Pray I'm doing the right thing.

It sounds like you're really trying to think ahead for all issues, that's fantastic.

Another thing about sand is that it is _coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere._

Hello! What needs to be done if you hear sand in the horse's stomach? Are there any steps that the owner should do or is it imperative to call the vet? And how serious is it?

    • @StableHorseTraining

Call a vet. It's very serious to make sure to deal with as fast as possible
