- Piper PA-30 Twin Comanche C-GESM is seen performing a missed approach and landing at CZNL in Nelson, British Columbia after the flight over from the Calgary Springbank Airport CYBW. It was fun to see the go-around, and this little twin engined piston aircraft sounded great too!
Great Video Jesse.
This was my first time into CZNL and the first time in a tight mountain valley. Not my best performance but lots learned for the next time I come to CZNL.
The engines are normally asperated with both propellers spinning in the same direction. The LH engine has a little less than 200 hours on it and the RH engine has about 2300 hours on it. Both engines don't use much oil. The LH gets a quart at around 19 hours and the RH at about 18 hours.
I hope this clears up some of the question and comments.
Hi Vernon! It was great to see your Twin Comanche passing through CZNL, one great looking little aircraft. And it was a real treat to see the go-around too! Looking forward to catching you again the next time you make it to Nelson 😃
I just bought a Twinkie out of Calgary and have it with an N number now based out of CO. As soon as the mountain biking season comes back around, Nelson is a top destination! Maybe we’ll cross paths some time!
Let me know when you plan to come to Nelson. I would try and make the trip out there to meet you. Would love to see your PA-30.
Fantastic catch! Love those engine sounds. Interesting Go-around! Quite a later touchdown than we normally see.
Thanks my friend, I was really happy to catch this one. Ya, it was cool to see the go-around and late landing.
Beautiful shots of this twin Comanche, Jesse! It looks really timeless good, chic and sporty at the same time. The livery fits very well with this classic. And the sound, just awesome! I found the scene with the wild geese particularly beautiful. Watched this video several times :) Huge like from me!
Thanks so much Matt! This small twin was a really fun one to see, and I love the livery as well. Good eye with the geese, there are lots hanging around CZNL at this time of year. They seem to be a little bit too comfortable around the runway!
A fantastic looking aircraft with an awesome fresh livery! Also loved that go around. Great stuff, mate!
Fantastic video. I love the sound, scenery and livery of this beauty 👌😎 big like 👍
Thanks a lot, I was really happy to get a shot of this little twin.
@@TheHDAviation thanks for sharing you’ve done a brilliant work 💪
Fantastic video my friend 😍🛩
Thanks so much!
What an amazing sound this aircraft has and I love all aircraft I’m an aviation fanatic
This one did sound great, it was a fun one to see visiting Nelson!
Very nice sounding Twin Comanche and Great footage 1000 Thumbs Up's 😎😎
Thanks so much Ed, this little twin was fun to see.
Always come back to see and enjoy your video!
Long time, I haven't seen a twin comanche. Excellent video as usual of this long landing.
Thanks a lot! I think this is the first Twin Comanche I've ever seen at CZNL.
Nice landing footage of this good old PA30. I made my multi engine rating on the Twin Comanche back in 2009. It was loads of fun.
That's very cool, that must have been fun flying the Twin Comanche and getting your multi-rating on one! Thanks for watching, this one was nice to see.
I learned to fly twin engines on one of these. Thanks!!!!
Very nice, that must have been fun flying the PA-30!
Considering how low they sit I'm surprised Commanches and Twin Commanches don't suffer a lot more damage to the flaps and gear doors
Glad to see I'm not the only one that had to do a go around there. Cool plane too, don't see too many of those
I was really happy to get a shot of this one, I think it's the first PA-30 I've filmed. It was a nice bonus to see the go-around as well!
Beautiful landing really love the bank on approach seems to really demonstrate the performance of this aircraft in the given conditions. ..scenery plug nice
Superb, Jesse!
The go-around action is so great and the robust sound of the twin comanche is unique!
Wonderful catch and video! From me as always a big like and best regards to you, Volker 👋👋
Thanks so much Volker, this great looking little twin was fun to see. And the go-around was a nice bonus!
Very nice! Love the look of the twin Comanche
Same here, one great looking little aircraft!
Love this aeroplane! Very nice video
I love it as well, some nice looking paint!
Nicely done! That was a very long float on the actual landing, I thought they would go around again, considering how short that runway is!
I totally agree with you. The runway isn't like landing at a major airport.
Really stunning video mate! Great catch! Liked!
Thanks so much Jelmer!
I see the.Canadian Air Force was feeding on the lawn. :)
Nice Twin.
My dad loved Pipers especially Apaches and Comanches -single or twin. His most favorite was 7500Y a twin Comanche featured in Pilot Magazine early 70s.
Piper has definitely made some great aircraft over the years, love seeing all their different models when they pass through my local airport.
Super Beautiful Piper!
This one did look great, I was really happy to see it. Thanks for watching!
@@TheHDAviation My pleasure!
Very nice footage and great sound! Thumbs up my friend! ;)
Thanks a lot!
Great capture
Thanks a lot!
That was a really long landing, Nice catch!
Ya, it really floated for awhile. Thanks a lot!
Nice shots of my fav light twin that I got my multi eng in once upon a time!
That's very cool you flew the PA-30, bet it was a nice little twin to fly!
Jesse my good friend, great video on this PA 30, thought he would perform another go around as seemed to struggle with touchdown so I agree with other comments that thought so. I think if he had not circled at the end he would have went off/overshot the runway into the grass, but speed was low enough to perform it, my fave route from the valley plus got to see a good view of B.O.B, this plane has a very, very, nice livery & I like the colors & design, very nice catch/video pal, btw, all of your video/audio gear is working great on my end, always like to let you know periodically
Thanks so much Steve, I appreciate it my friend! This little twin was a fun one to see, and I agree, I love the livery! I was thinking they may go-around again as well, but managed to pull it off. Glad you enjoyed the glimpse of BOB, and thanks for letting me know everything is looking and sounding good on your end.
@@TheHDAviation Jesse my good friend, thank you & you are welcome & always glad to see BOB, lol, great catch, keep them coming brother
Great Video of this Piper !!! LIKE
Beautiful classic!
This one was a beauty indeed, it really fun to see!
Cool video. I have fond memories of the PA-30, we had one at the local flying club. It was equipped with the wing tip-tank option, which made it somewhat a mean-looking little airplane (check online photos of PT-BKI). I got my multi-engine rating in it, and as I recall the landings took some getting used to, as is sat fairly low to the ground, so flare was initiated a little lower than one would expect. With that in mind, it was not difficult to land and a fun airplane to fly. I got to do a cross-country flight in it, night IFR from Rio de Janeiro Santos Dumont (SBRJ) to Sao Paulo (SBSP) and back on the next day. Fun stuff.
Nice catch!
Thanks a lot!
Agree to the sound and everything else, thanks !!!!! 👍👍
I love the twin Commanche. Very pretty and good sounding airplane.
I worked in Lock Haven , PA.
Home of Piper Aircraft.
Remember all the planes lined up on the fields both sides of runway.
The Good Ol' Days.
If you all get a chance come fly or drive to Lock Haven for Sentimental Journey Flyin towards the end of this month of June. I think the dates are 21st thru 26th. Always a nice time.
Help them fill the field with Pipers.
All airplanes are welcome...

Cool looking plane.
I love the look of this little twin as well!
Fantastic capture my friend 😀 Greetings from Japan 👏
Thanks my friend!
Nice shot!
Thanks a lot!
The first twin I was given a flight in. Flew over Sedona and around the mountains of Flagstaff AZ. Fast little plane.
Very cool, that must have been fun getting up in the Twin Comanche!
Superb!
Thanks for watching!
Amazing rotations!
Wow. What a landing
looks great... beautiful airplane
got my multi in one in 76 or so for 700$. doing touch and goes prior to the check ride the gear folded up and we slid down the runway @ 90 MPH or so. no injuries except to the aircraft.
good night master, boy congratulations for the beautiful video record I liked the ducks, this twin landed on the limit to be able to brake in? And that smoke at the time of power is that normal? the pilot must be adapting to the aircraft..
Nice catch of this turboprop. Like the roar of the propeller. 👍✅
Turboprop? You mean twin prop? Those are piston engines.
Smoked the go around also lots of geese.
Going around
did anybody besides ME SEE , all that blue smoke come OUT of the Right engine when the pilot increase the throttle to do a go round ?
Buenismo avión .... me encanta.... que sonido
This one did look and sound great. Thanks for watching my friend!
That landing seemed like forever!
Come in hot and she will float. Seems to be a training flight since the first attempt was an overshoot.
My special needs son says that airplane ✈🛬🛫🛩 looks very similar to a Cessna 310.
He is right, this little twin does look quite similar to the 310!
@@TheHDAviation Thank you for your reply we are glad you agree God bless you 🙏🔥🕊🥀🐑🐏🦁👼✡😇✝️🤴👑💎🕯🛡🗡🦅 John 3:16
Excelente avion
Love the old PA-30!
Sleek noisy piece of aircraft. I've used to fly a '67 model (PT-CHT) for the local flight school in Campinas, SP , as a CFI-I. Lovely machine, a bit trickier to flare compared to our PA28R. Unfortunately It was lost few years ago on a stall spin accident....
Cheers from Brazil 👍👍
The only place you will find a free running motor is in, aviation. On the autobahn it is regulated and everywhere else. That motor sounds better than a Supercar and it`s not even big. Please let this last a long time.....🙏✈✈✈✈ Hi Jesse....Thanx..!
nice old Lady from 1964
✌
It's looking great for its age!
That used to be the Calgary Flying Club trainer
Nice, I didn't know that. Glad to see it still flying, one great looking classic twin!
Keren🤩👍🏾
penerbangan yg indah..🙏🙏
Such a lovely looking aircraft. Those puffs of smoke at :07 on starboard and :11 on port had me concerned. Probably just carb adjustments for excess fuel if it was gas. If it is oil....yikes.
After a long descent in a low power setting, there may be some small oil leaks past the turbocharger oil seals. It may accumulate as small running droplets along the intake manifold walls. With increased airflow when the power is increased, droplet runnels detach into the chamber and burn off as momentary puffs of smoke. There is probably nothing to fret about. Against a blue sky versus the dark landscape background you might not observe them. A continuous blue smoke would be another matter and a grave concern. When much oil is consumed, plugs will foul and the engine lose power. An engine may fail catastrophically if it eats its entire load of engine oil on a long flight.
@@DARANGULAFILM Aaah yes. Forgot these were turbocharged engines.
Kind of an abrupt power increase on the go-around. Good thing the right engine didn’t quit. And then was too fast on the 2nd attempt..
'
that airplane with 2 propeller fans...
must be opposite spins and not same spins.,..
same as V-22 with twin propeller fans are opposite spins
