    Are you letting the resin dry between layers or just the black background?

    Wow, it is stunning! I love the colours.
    Do you have any video about sanding process like, grit numbers do you use, how do you finished it, do you apply another layer or resin after sanding? Many thanks

      Ana Milena I can work on one, it doesn’t take long because I use a dremel with a 120 grit sand paper tip. Once they’re sanded I tape the bottom and put a final clear coat of resin - it reminds me of doing finger nails 🤣 I have used sandpaper but it takes longer

    I love these so much and am in awe of how you create the feeling of depth n colours. One A is what is it you cover them with before the final coating?

    Does each layer need to be cured before adding another?

    These are gorgeous. Going to give it a go. But why do you torch it AND hit it with the heat gun? Doesn't the torch ruin the actual mold?

    • @ResinAsYouWish
      @ResinAsYouWish  4 роки тому

      Hi, the torch is supposed to be held 3 inches above the resin, holding it too close will burn it - I have never experienced the mold being damaged by either torch or heat gun and believe me the heat gun is just as hot. The heat gun I use to thin and move the resin (it also pops the bubbles) I switch to the torch when I don't want to push the resin around anymore, and use it to pop the micro bubbles. The torch can also produce some amazing lacing effects.

    What is that tool you used to spread the color??? Is it just a blow dryer or something like it? If I were to use a blow dryer that way would the heat make it cure faster?

    • @ResinAsYouWish
      @ResinAsYouWish  3 роки тому +1

      Hi, I"m using a heat gun tool (they get up to 2000 degrees, so really hot) Yes it definitely makes the resin cure faster - but as you can see, I have plenty of time to get it the way I want it

      @@ResinAsYouWish thank you so much your work is very beautiful! Do you think a blow dryer would work as well???

    • @ResinAsYouWish
      @ResinAsYouWish  3 роки тому +1

      @@spicyellie yes it would, hair dryers push the air harder so you would need to work with it to determine angles and distance you are holding it out from the resin so you get an idea of the splatter factor and the direction the resin will blow. The heat gun tip I use helps keeps the air flowing in a way thats easier to manipulate the resin in the direction I want (some hair dryers have that duck bill shaped tip)

    Do you sand the entire surface? Is that because there is a meniscus type of raised edge?
    They are lovely!

    • @ResinAsYouWish
      @ResinAsYouWish  4 роки тому

      It is because the edge is raised in the mold, it can actually be pretty sharp. most artists pop the coaster out and flip it over and use the bottom as the top, I like the top to be what you can see while making it - the only way I can do that is to sand them all down

    Hey I had a beginners question if you have time to answer. Do you do anything special when laying down the swirl of gold? I mix my gold powder with a bit of resin, then lay a swirl down on top of a clear layer I just put on. I place my foil on top of the gold swirl. I come back a few hours later and the gold swirl I put down has spread out over half of the coaster. do you wait for the clear layer to cure a bit before putting your gold swirl down? and is your gold just the gold mica powder mixed with resin and thats it? Any help would be appreciated. thanks.

      Hi, At first I had trouble finding a gold that didn’t disperse into the resin as you just described. My favorite gold color to use is the Mehron - it’s actually makeup powder, but it pools and mostly stays where you put it. I have also found that gold spray paint mixed with resin works just as well, but it’s not as easy to work with (fumes etc) as the mehron powder. So to answer your question I don’t wait for the resin to thicken, it’s more about what you color the resin with.
      This is one of my first tries at the galaxy:

      Then this
      pin.it/3v7ALpG
      You can see the gold is less precise, but still pretty - because I was having issues

    Stunning! How long do you leave between layers roughly please?

    • @ResinAsYouWish
      @ResinAsYouWish  4 роки тому +5

      Thank you for asking that, It helps me know what I SHOULD be adding in the content. I leave each layer 24 hours - when I do multiple layers like these if I am impatient and only wait 12 (resin is usually hard at 12 hours) it leaves a slight ripple effect on the top when it's fully cured - so being patient the full 24 hours leaves the final cure glassy smooth
