THANK YOU for allowing us to learn from your mistake. Some people are too proud to post anything that show a mistake in it. But by doing so, we have learned so much about the art & we've learned what a humble person you are & a good teacher. You've earned yourself a subscriber from the first of your videos I've seen🥰
You are so inspirational. You have me thinking of so many things to make. I always wanted to learn to pour resin. My ex brother in law years ago use to make resin war scenes with plastic soldiers getting shot and blood flowing .it was for a war protest, that’s how long ago it was. I was 15 and I’m now 63.... but anyway I think he used tweezers to place the figures into the resin. They were very animated and effective. I would personally like to create something more organic and beautiful.
Thank you for your very helpful tutorial. Your personality shines and you are a pleasure to watch and learn from.
You share knowledge that is very important to us, thank you very much
I make coasters in the same molds weekly. I use a candle lighter for the bubbles and I wait 12+ hours and I have no trouble getting them out. If I do I set them in the freezer for 20-30 minutes or set it in the sink in hot water. I have never had a problem with the sticking of the mold.
I do use mold release on some molds that aren't very pliable.
Your petri pours are beautiful!
Moon Crafter Nails and more! Do you have any issues with white ink??? I’m having a few problems of the white being heavier than other colours and sinking whereas other colours just seems to float.
you answered my question! thanks for letting me know a lighter will work!
These turned out really pretty! It seems like you literally melted the silicone mold right to the resin on the other ones that you torched. No weird science there, you just roasted them past their melting point! I use a heat gun for my resin and it does a great job on the bubbles, plus it makes some cool new patterns. It's not for everything (sometimes a flame works best) but it should keep you from your pyro tendencies. 👍🏻
Sophie Vanderbilt on low or high setting please ? And did you try silicone oil ?
Perfect!!! Just what I needed. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge & experience. You have the best instructional UA-cam video on this art form, & you're very creative.
Omg thank you so much. I have been see your beautiful video and beautiful art for a while. I recently started to do acrylic pouring and now I m into making resin coaster. I have destroyed so many mold and never figure out why. Thanks to your video I learned so much and I can’t wait to try the my coasters again but this time without destroying the mold. Thank you so much
Great job on Petri dish tutorial! Thank you!!!
I love the process of learning and learning from mistakes and experiences! Thank you for doing an updated video of what you have learned 😁😁
This is the most informative tutorial I've seen about making resin coasters. Thankyou!
so true!!
Thank you very much. Your video was just what I was looking for. Beautiful results.
Annie & Laura Bingham (from comments), I haven't started yet but I will be ready in about a week. I've been watching videos on working with resin and this is the first time anything has been mentioned about protection. I am so thankful to you both for this! I'm also a bit obsessed with reading the comments or I would have missed this completely! Thank you for all of the wonderful knowledge I gained from watching your video and reading your comments! I'm walking away from this one with a wealth of information!
Just a little FYI, I was watching a video on something similar to this only it was done for yummy desserts. He was dripping food coloring onto the clear edible substance (not sure what it was) then he used different tools to push the color (ink) into the mold to create flowers and leaves inside. It was so beautiful! I don't know why you couldn't do the same thing with resin. Just a thought you might want to try........
I am glad you said that about torching in the mold. I have some that have done that and couldn't figure out why it did it just sometimes but not every time. These are gorgeous. Thanks so much for sharing!
Oooh thank you for the tips with the white ink! These are gorgeous!
Castin' Craft makes a silicone mold release/conditioner spray.
It is possible to take a piece and round the edges or sandpaper the bottom flat. A quick rub over sanded areas with your fingertip and THE NEXT CLEAR BATCH. Give it at least one day sitting flat. Viola! Perfection
Beautiful coasters!
You make it look so easy! Very pretty
Hey sweetie this is stunning and looks like so much fun. You know this or any of your DIYS would be great to do with a group of friends with some wine at home. Fun fun fun. I love your channel gurlllllll. You are the best to me on the YT doing this kind of stuff. Beautiful art. You always encouraged and inspire me and my young daughter to try everything, we love your spirit and this is one ☝️ of the first things I do when I recover from my next set of surgeries. I will send your pictures when we do it. Love you 🙋🏾💙🦋💓💜💗💕💚💖
Thank you my love ! Xo always appreciate the support !
Annies ART Studio awwwww you are sooooooo welcome💙🦋🙋🏾
So excited about the silicone around the edge of the mold! 🥰
Beautiful mix of colors ! Congrats 🌹
Awesome thank you. Just did my first test coaster yesterday. It stuck to the mould but obviously I over torched it. Not overly impressed with the finish but I’m going to try this!👍🏻
You make the most gorgeous petri art I've seen!
You may be having issues because the silicone lubricant is acting as a solvent that is damaging you silicone mold. (Silicone lubricant can "melt" silicone objects) Try using petroleum jelly instead.
So many people saying "great tutorial" because they truly believe all these videos are uploaded by a Guru.
I think they're saying great tutorial because they enjoyed it @@cliffcarlo180

@@cliffcarlo180 Funny how no one has called her a " guru ", and funny how she readily admits her difficulties and discusses her learning process. Maybe your salty attitude is indicative of jealousy of her work or mommy issues.
@@big65mopar Glad you saw the comical side. Have a great Christmas
Hola buenos días , que linda tecnica, ,gracias por compartir el video , saludos desde Medellín -Colombia
Pretty much obsessed with this video. THANK YOU!
Great teacher I am getting supplies now can't wait to do this
So pretty. Thanks for passing to us the lessons you learned in getting them from the molds. I might try this.
I will try it soon 😍😍 thanks very much about the important information ❤️❤️
You gave some really good little tips that I will be putting to use for sure. I just got a bunch of different colors for petri dish coasters and can't wait to try make some. Art Resin is a good product, I usually pour each part into those squeeze bottles meant for ketchup and mustard, individually, not mixed lol. And using a small heater to warm them up nicely hasn't made the epoxy resin heat up and start to cure within half an hour. I've had that happen before with a different brand, kinda scary. I'm using Magic Resin atm because I got a lot more for my $$ and so far it's been great for projects small and big.
These are so beautiful but I recommend you try to find another mold because casting shouldn't stick to the mold that much, I've literally never had this problem. Also can I suggest that to reduce bubbles you take longer to mix and mix slowly, then bang your cup on the side to rise bubbles and heat when bubbles reach the middle of the cup. Then their will be very few bubbles left after pouring xx
Julie mcquade Excelent idea! Thank you! :)
It's always good to take steps to take care of your molds tho, such as using a mold release. This will help your castings come out easier and extend the life of your molds.
and not use torch but heat/hot gun
These look gorgeous. I use this mold for resin as well. I find 12 hours is the perfect time to take them out. When I had taken them out too early, my fingerprints ruined it and I had to add additional resin to fix it. Can't wait to try this method.
Wonderful stuff! I cannot wait until we get warmer weather to try this.
You don't need warm weather! Winter is best when you are inside more. ;)
Using wooden stirring sticks can introduce more bubbles into a project. If you use metal or silicon to mix and spread you will have fewer bubbles overall!
Also you can leave your cup of resin in warm water for a bit before you use it and the bubbles will be drawn towards whatever mixing utensil you use.
Thank you for posting this! I learned how to keep from destroying my molds! This is a beautiful technique, and I can't wait to try it!
The torch softened the mold and heated up the resin at the same time allowing the two to mix then fuse together. Waving the torch quickly over the resin in waves and circles is enough to pop the bubbles. There is also a spray that can be used that will pop the bubbles as well and not affect the resin, another channel called positive couple uses it, however, it's in Russian so it may be difficult to translate.
I spray alcohol on my resin to pop bubbles.
Great video thank you for sharing
Awesome, after seeing this I will invest in some resin and try it
Great video! I always learn soooo much from you. Keep 'em coming.
Thanks for the tip about using q tip to put silicone on the sides of the molds. I have ruined my molds and had to keep buying them. Also was waiting too long to unmold.
One of the best I've seen. I do wish someone, anyone, would share with us HOW you know how much resin to mix for coasters. Most everyone has this same mold, does anyone know how much one coaster mold holds?
About 2oz
Wauw so beautiful 😍🙏
This is absolutely stuning! Can you please tell me, what kind of ink do you use? The effects are so gorgeous!
It is pinata alcohol ink x
Annie, thanks for sharing your experiences with the 3in1 oil and the unmolding before the resin fully cures. Fantastic tips!!
Great video. Thank you so much for all your tips.
Thank you very much for sharing 👍🙏🌹
Great video!
This is gorgeous but oh my god PLEASE use gloves! I can no longer use resin :( since I've now become super sensitive from using it, and I get crazy allergy outbreaks. Pls use proper ventilation, face mask, goggles, and gloves. It's so important to know this and teach it. This stuff is extremely dangerous, even if ArtResin touts itself as being 'non-toxic', but once you add stuff to it and torch it, all bets are off and it's no longer non-toxic :/
This is very true. I promise i will and will teach the same
Cool. I had no idea how toxic the stuff, and just dove right in! Watching tutorials, a lot of folks don't use any protection, so I didn't think I needed to anyway. NOPE! lol unfortunately now I can't do it at all since I dont want to risk my health :-/ "Always use protection" lol :)
Thanks for the advice Laura, didn't know the consequences that can lead to.
Thanks
It seems that I developed allergy to the resin as well. But now that I use gloves and a mask I am able to make art without having a swelled up face.. ❤️
My resin as no smell to it, do I still need to wear a mask??
Wowww!! Amazing! Thank you for those useful tips! :)
Thankful for your tutorials. I would like to know after you “demold” the coaster, where and which surface you use to let them to cure.
Thank you for the tips, I just started using resin.
Muy bonitos y bien hechos.
Beautiful, love those colors!!! Do you ever make any with jewelry pieces in them. I bet that would be beautiful as well. Tfs, hope you have a blessed day ❣❣❣
I love your work! Just a question. Do you sell your alcohol ink and resin products to the public and are you not worried about the fact that it looses colour after a couple of weeks? Or how do you avoid it? I would love to do large painting but are very scared about customers returning my product due to this fact. Would love a reply from you thanks
Awesomeness love all of them and great job! Great tips🕊❤😎
Love this video. Can’t wait to try.
very nicely presented :)
Excellent tutorial!
My wife and I are new to resin and tried some alcohol inks, and after several tries, we have yet to replicate an effect similar to what is in this video. What brand resin and inks are you using?
Those look really cool! Have you tried using mold release instead?
Idk if you need help with this but if you use rubbing alcohol 90 proof or higher spray the mold before you pour them once it’s poured spray the top and it pops bubbles great. No heat
Hey! Resin newbie here, may I ask what you put on top of the colored dye? Is it white ink?
They’re beautiful!
Thanks for a great video. Do I understand correctly that after you complete the layer of alcohol ink, you do not add another layer of resin or any other sealer? What is to prevent the alcohol ink from changing over time when it comes in contact with other materials?
Beautiful ! How do you know how much resin to make for each mold? I want to start soon and not sure of that. Thanks
Thank you💕 I ruined my previous molds by my edges sticking and needed this video 🙌🏼
Try using a long necked lighter instead of a torch, it's much more gentle but does the same job 😊
Just fried a mold. I wish I saw this sooner. Great video!
Beautiful
Thx you I love it !
This was awesomeee
I LOVE your channel!!!!!!!! I do have a question with the bookmarks you added more resin so they aren't soft you don't have to this when using the Petri dish and alcohol ink?
BMW my Petri dishes are never soft. I’m assuming because it’s more resin. But! You can turn them around, place on flat Surface and fill the back space with resin .. A hard resin.
Thanks! Gonna try using alcohol ink in resin for the second time (after my 1st attempt didnt went well last night) lol. Question: do we need to put more hardener in our resin mixture if we use alcohol ink? Does the use affects the resin cure?
Just so you know, if you warm your resin A in hot water for 15 mins before mixing it helps a lot with bubbles, as well as, you need to
spray 99 percent rubbing alcohol on the mold, then pour your resin, then spray the top of your wet resin with the alcohol again, wait 3 mins , spray one more time, all your bubbles will disappear. Then go ahead and start working, and more bubbles will raise from the bottom to the top, At that point you can use your torch just for a second and not have to burn the resin or the mold.
When using the torch. You want to hold it a good length away from the mold, and just quickly pass over the resin, left to right, and you can repeat that but give some time in between so the resin isn’t getting too hot.
Also silicone oil, is what we use to create cells and unique effects within paint and resin.
We mix the oil in the resin and paint, when making resin art Canvas. The oil reacts just like oil and water, and pushed it apart. So that could cause issues here, as you are making a mold not painting a canvas.
A much easier way, is baby oil.
Using baby oil, after the resin is dry and ready to come out. Just pour the baby oil over it. Get it in the cracks. Pop it out, and wipe the oil off. Hope this helps!!!!
Stunning! I have this same mold but haven't used it yet. How much resin is needed to fill all 3 molds?
Gorgeous 😍
Thank you for the updated video! I have ruined so many molds. Do you sand down the edges on the bottom of them? Mine always seem sharp. If so, do you wait until completely hardened to do so? What grit of sandpaper do you use? Thanks :)
Great video! How do you make the coasters the same height? Like when free pouring into the mould and not filling the whole mould?
Love how the ink moves like its alive. Do you buff em?
So beautiful I love it 😲
I wonder if not coaster can we make it in big size as well like wall hanging 4ft. X 4ft...would it be the same process?
Soooo beautiful 😍
thank you for the tutorial, love it, i have tried this but can not get my inks to starburst out like youts, i have tried a little ink ,then more ink and still not luck, i use the same products as you use, i shake the bottles first, also, so i am not sure what i am doing wrong, can you help? thank you!!
Loved this so much. Just ordered silicone oil. My issue is in using alcohol ink with Art resin. My pieces NEVER cure properly and anywhere the jnk is remains sticky. Is there a trick? I used only a few drops. 3-5 maybe.
Another great one, Annie!! Really fun! Love & Hugs 👍🏻👍🏻😍🤗
Xoxo
Over mixing rain causes bubbles. Mix well, but SLOWLY to avoid bubbles.
Very nice video ! How are you checking the edges if are ready or not?!
Just wait 12 hours and you’re good ❤️
Hi Annies thanks for this tutorial, I have a question for you
what happens if you dónt use the white?
it is only a matter of transparency or there is something else?
Thanks in advance
very well explained!! thank u!!!
Is that just a white alcohol ink or is that like a blender/mixer or something? Trying to buy stuff for my resin but I'm not sure if that's just a white alcohol ink like the others, or if I have to purchase something else. Thanks!
Hi Annies, what about spraying the mould with Mould Release Agent before you pour your resin?! Wouldn't that help you with taking your piece out?
HI Annie; awesome love these coasters.. I was wondering if a heat gun would get rid of the bubbles instead of a touch as I do not own on, but do have the heat gun on hand.. looking forward to more new videos..
I don’t know how hot it gets so try it very lightly
I use my heat gun as well as a long lighter too
Try just a grill or candle lighter
What about a hair drier? Would that work at all? I have never used resin b4, but looks amazing n lots of fun!
Both a heat gun and a hair dryer would move the alcohol ink to give it a new design as well as getting out bubbles. At least from my experience
So pretty..
Would the Art Resin be heat resist to say a hot cup of coffee without sticking,?
this is very great tutorial i have also ruined aton of mold and i have one left and i have been scared to use it! i don't have any silicone tho because i mostly do resin pours> do you think something else might work for the sides?? Also you work is amazing and i am definitely subscribing!!
Hey ATD Sista, you can buy mould release, that’s what I did. My thinking was I had spent loads a money on the mounds probably best to spend a few more £’s on something designed to aid mould release so I didn’t destroy them.
Vaseline!
Thank you this video helps a lot omg
They are beautiful
Love How Yours Turned Out 😍
I tried 2 for the first time last night and the Resin is curing well but I have a lot of white showing ( do you know what would cause that) as I did the color then added the white like you did too make it bloom 🤔
Thank You
Thanks for sharing your process. Why do you use white on all colors and what does it accomplish? Thanks
Nyoka Sanders it helps the colors drop to the bottom, so it helps carry out the design and technique. Basically
I almost like the bottoms instead 😍
Amazing work 👍🏼❤️
Love these resin coasters but afraid to try making them 😬
I have question,
Where you get ur resin and mold please ?
Thanks 💕
I have links to all the material in the description ❤️
