AA are brilliant mate. Used them for years, and now I have decided to roll the dice and get my first Range Rover, it gives me comfort knowing I will always get home no matter where I am. Look forward to your next video mate. It’s all part of the adventure.
Excellent video James, it was awful to see you leave on a recovery truck, you put so much effort into preparing for the trip! I hope to team up with you and go for it again!
Thanks Chris. I was certainly pretty gutted but plenty of time for a second attempt! A great group as well, I’d love to do more with you all. Best of luck with the rest of the journey!
Hi very unfortunate…..could the prop shaft not have been welded????..just thinking outside the square?…and yes always an adventure…chin up there will always be another day!😁
Maybe, although none of us had a welder sadly. I have since noticed that there is a part called a differential coupling shaft which might actually be the culprit. Just gotta be patient now until the cars gets home! Thanks.
День тому+1
I had a brand new prop fail on my sport. Similar issue. Had to go for a much more expensive replacement. Cheaper parts are tempting but ultimately quality not always there.
With main running gear, I’ll only use LR parts; it’s too heavy a car to scrimp! I’ve double checked, and although the prop doesn’t look old, it isn’t something I’ve had replaced. It may have been in the past by a previous owner but won’t know for sure until I get it back. Thanks for watching.
It’s too bad that computers have taken over cars. Back in the day, you could just remove the prop shaft, lock the center diff and drive in front wheel drive (done on both SIII and 101). It should be nice if the GAP IID let you lock the center diff. I assume the only way to lock the center diff now is to put it into rock crawl mode to at least allow you to move it to a different location. Just rambling after thinking about the truly unfortunate failure. You spent sooo much time preparing for it.
We did try rock crawl and even then it didn’t seem to want to let me get any movement, not sure why. It would be great if I could still manually lock the diffs although I didn’t fancy 2wd’ing it all the way to Nordkapp!
Mate thats crap, really sorry. I did a trip through the Alps and blow the gearbox in my RR and had the worry that they may not take the truck home due to value, but they did. Get hold of Rah he'll sort it. Then get back out there again.
There have since been a few other breakdowns, it’s a tough trip. All the work I had done, did well, it’s just the parts that I didn’t change let me down! Lol. Lesson learnt.
Absolutely right. Failure of some kind was always a possibility so I’d factored it in. So although I was disappointed it hasn’t broken my spirit! Looking forward to getting the car back and planning the next trip! Thanks for watching Mark.
At least you're safe, and its an easy fix. And at least it didn't happen off road in the sticks. Onwards an upwards :)

They definitely did their job. Already thinking about my next trip! Thanks for watching.

"This time next year Rodney!" :)
Absolutely John!
Gutted for you, but at least you're home same an the 322 is on it's way back.
I'm currently preparing my D2 for some european adventures.

Oh you poor sod. That would be my luck too. I had to get a replacement automatic gearbox on a uk trip
Yikes, gearbox wasn’t fun I bet. There will be other opportunities, I just have to been patient….which I’m not very good at! Thanks for watching.
Hang in there… could have been worse. Don’t get discouraged and keep going…
I appreciate the comment, thanks. It certainly could have been worse having been on the Autobahn just moments before!

It’s all good mate, loads of time to try again. I’ll be in touch when I get the car back! Thanks again for watching.
The chances were slim let's be honest. Shame it let you down.

“Shit happens” always time to go again. The moral of this story, get European breakdown cover for every trip.

@ That’s the sprit 👍🏻 Shout when in spring, I’ll head down for a visit and we can take both L322’s out for a run 👍🏻.
