A jet engine for a self-launching glider (‘BonusJet’ -- PBS TJ-100 turbine engine) produces 240 pounds of thrust (108 Kg) and weighs 42 pounds (19 Kg). So, the weight to thrust ratio for this turbine engine is .175 (every .175 pound/kilogram of engine produces 1 pound/kilogram thrust) Praendy's jet engine produces 34 Kg thrust and weighs 12 Kg, so it's weight to thrust ratio is .353 .353/.175 is almost exactly 2. So, if I'm right, Praedny's jet engine has - for each pound of engine weight - as much as half the thrust as a commercial engine! Very impressive!
Woah ist das beeindruckend! Wahnsinn!!

Hi William, there is no damage on the turbine wheel. The strange color is from the "total loss" lubrication and the wheel itself has this shape. The wheel and ngv is made for 710°C steady. My egt is max 660-680. Andy
Immer noch tolles Video und Arbeit! I think the nozzle may be the ultimate cause of the failure, though, because yours is convergent-divergent-convergent, when it should be just convergent-divergent since exhaust gas is supersonic.
Praendy the nozzle turned red hot, are you going to damage your only turbine wheel that you have ?????????? the candle produces a state of fatigue in the steel and a turbine wheel subjected to a constant flame has to fail
Hi Leon, it looks more dangerous, than its really is. All videos are made already in dawn, but I use more brightness for the videos. The ngv and the turbine is rated to 70 000 rpm max and a steady egt of 710°C. My egt is well below 660-680°C. So thats not a problem😉 Andy
The wedges act like stators and minimize the helical flow losses off the compressor wheel, also increases compressor pressure. Correct me if I’m wrong Andy.
@@dallynsr Thanks! Wouldn't helical flow be an issue after passing through the compressor, rather than before?(I have no idea how airflow works so I'm asking)
Ones these size? Usually oil is constantly pumped into the bearings to wet them and as it escapes it gets burned off. So the oil is wasted. The life size ones have bearing housings that seal off the oil from the rest on the engine and recover most of the oil.
Hi, Titanium is right. Its a "total loss" lubrication. Oil is mixed into the fuel and a small amount is steady delivered to the bearings. The oil/fuel mix then burns off on the hot turbine and leaves the engine. Andy
Alright, thanks both of you. I was sort of wondering how the process is possible because of the heat and velocity of the fuel, if it would even have time to lubricate anything if just mixed into the fuel.

the metal annealed itself, which is not uncommon from the heat, but all we can do is speculate until we receive an update.

calculated is the mass flow with 1,2 Kg/s, but it semms to be less.
