Absolute lifesaver idk how you don’t have at least 100k subs but this helped me a lot cuz I’m Canada all the “gaming” desks and normal desk are so expensive like a standard flat top desk from ikea is $100+

I think when it comes to a setup for your computer or gaming rig people see all these fancy ideas and think they need to spend a couple hundred dollars to achieve it but I know for a fact that's not the case if you look around a little bit. I am looking to make a lot more outside of the box videos but it's a lot more difficult with the quarantine...
No I'm not personally worried but looking on craigslist and facebook marketplace is a lot harder to buy materials since people don't want me coming to their home and in their garage and stuff
This is what my father did when I was a kid and also what i did when I moved out. He used a door like yours and then glued dark speaker box carpet onto it. He then stapled the overhanging carpet underneath. He also used two bedside tables as legs. I also use a mouse-pad that is large enough for both my keyboard and mouse. It's super comfy, looks good and has heaps of arm space.
Ragman49 That’s another good idea for the legs, I’ve seen the bedside tables or small filing cabinets. A lot of options available just have to think outside the box a bit!
I was gonna go buy some wood and pipe for a desk build, but this video reminded me. Two years ago I ripped the counter top off an office built in at work and sat it up against the wall to take home and never did. 2" thick MDF, with a Formica veneer, in gray marble. about 5 1/2 foot long. Its not gonna look the prettiest but save me a ton of money. Now I have a reason to look forward to going to work tomorrow.
Thats awesome to hear man! I think that MDF will work just fine especially with a veneer on it, good size too. You should share a picture with me when its all said and done and you've got it setup
If you are going to use a door, just pick up a couple saw horses while you are at it. Much less chance of everything ending up on the floor when ony of those crappy legs screwed into a hollow cor door (basically cardboard) gives out.

This would be super simple to even add a cheap monitor shelf to raise them up with small storage under it too. Endless possibilities. I dont have an ikea near me for the legs but I bet Amazon has some.
I think Amazon sells these legs and some very similar! But yes using the door still to this day, I stained it grey it looks really nice and still holding up great
TechFTP I live in PA and I couldn’t find a door for under 40 but I can build a pretty cheap desk for 17 bucks I recommend ikea for those don’t live near a department store

This has been my plan for a while now, i have a corner desk i could take off the corner piece and arrange my other two frames to hold the door im so hyped but my mom says it wont work or it takes too much space… too much space for a desk is never bad

Idk if you'll get cancer hahaha but it will certainly be better and more comfortable to have a desk! Will also allow for better airflow and you'll probably see temps go down in your laptop as well!
I got them from a Menards Surplus Stores which is like a Lowes or Home Depot, next to the actual big store they have a little store that they sell extra stuff that may be old or a little damaged or just random items they have.

You know I got these legs cheap at ikea but I've also been looking lately for more of a cheap base rather then legs. I also found that my local universities sell old file cabinets nice 2 and 3 drawers for dirt cheap like 10 bucks and put one on each side. Lots of ideas but im also still searching for some more good and cheap leg options

Just buy a cheap phillips screwdriver and push hard, there's many way to install screws! Investing in a drill, even a cheap one will be a good choice. You'll probably put a lot of stuff together in your life
No sagging what so ever, I had 2 monitors on there and my PC as well with ease. I also used a hollow-core door so it was lightweight, will depend on the door obviously but you should have no problem at all

This door was from a clearance bin and is a hollow core, which sucks obviously because it more difficult to get the legs to attach. But I cant complain the door was only $10 and after staining it a grayish color and putting a poly finish on it, it looks like a $100+ desktop!

If you do get the longer desks make sure you are careful of the desk bending, maybe add another leg in the middle of the desk near the back

I got them from a Menards Surplus Stores which is like a Lowes or Home Depot, next to the actual big store they have a little store that they sell extra stuff that may be old or a little damaged or just random items they have.

It was from a Menards Surplus Store, so it's where they sell used stuff or damaged stuff and it's usually a lot cheaper! Not every store has one but worth calling around and finding out!

You know I got these legs cheap at ikea but I've also been looking lately for more of a cheap base rather then legs. I also found that my local universities sell old file cabinets nice 2 and 3 drawers for dirt cheap like 10 bucks and put one on each side. Lots of ideas but im also still searching for some more good and cheap leg options

Just buy a cheap phillips screwdriver and push hard, there's many way to install screws! Investing in a drill, even a cheap one will be a good choice. You'll probably put a lot of stuff together in your life

How sturdy is the door once you start adding things to the middle. Any sagging?
No sagging what so ever, I had 2 monitors on there and my PC as well with ease. I also used a hollow-core door so it was lightweight, will depend on the door obviously but you should have no problem at all

@@kona9804 there isnt a link I bought all this in a store in a clearance bin! It will be harder atm with covid stuff but if you call or look around your local homegoods stores like Lowes, Home Depot, Menards or whatever you have around you they will probably have something similar

Is the door hollow core? Or solid?
This door was from a clearance bin and is a hollow core, which sucks obviously because it more difficult to get the legs to attach. But I cant complain the door was only $10 and after staining it a grayish color and putting a poly finish on it, it looks like a $100+ desktop!
