A man drove to Yosemite and at the entrance he told the ranger, "I've only got an hour before I have to leave. What should I do?" The ranger offered this advice, "Pull over, sit on the curb and cry."
Hey, just wanted to tip my hat to you man, you’ve got the right attitude. I’m a lifelong rider, almost 70 years old, and have been involved with many cycling confraternities. They’re not often warm and inclusive. I think that both you and Jasper are great representatives for the sport. Thanks for making us all look good...
Thanks bro! I have also been apart of cycling communities that were not great ambassadors for the sport. I hated the way they represented cyclists and wanted to be different. Glad to hear your thoughts
Good and honest video! I live in Merced and biked my regular Schwinn bike to the Yarts then biked all day in Yosemite. I go to Yosemite often because my daughter works there but you see so much more and appreciate it more while biking. Thanks for reminding me how much I miss riding there haha
Thanks for the camera footage and confidence builder to ride into Yosemite. We were not sure about cycling on the mountain roads with narrow bike lanes. My son and I are now planning to ride from Bass Lake to Yosemite Valley to visit with my daughter working seasonally at the Ahwahnee Hotel.
Thanks for the videos Tyler. I watched the videos you did with Chris Miller and visited Yosemite in September this year. Was fortunate enough to convince the wife to drive the rental. Stayed at Big Trees Lodge. Rode to Yosemite Village, did the tourist things there and the wife drove me up to Glacier Point. She drove back to Big Trees Lodge and I rode back and saw a bear by the side of the road. What a memorable day.
Thanks for the help! Former racer that now enjoys riding and checking out the views. Im not a camper though so I will figure something out. I think I need to request a few vacation days in October
Awesome video. Yosemite is my favorite national park. period. Be warned, though: reserving a camping spot on the valley floor is EXTREMELY difficult. Your best bet is crane flat campground which is few miles out of the way but less challenging. Just expect to book it on the first hour (read: minutes) of availability.
Thanks VC wonderful guide, love the tips about the hidden bike only areas. One tip from me: go in the spring when the waterfalls are most spectacular eg Yosemite falls, vernal falls. And take a good camera.
GREAT VLOG VC !! Great info and great timing as I'm planning for next year to be there in October and this blog has helped so much in either clarifying or confirming plans. THANKS !! I will def hit you up when I'm there and would be awesome to ride with you.
i did yosemite several years ago and i stayed in oakhurst @ best western. i just drove into the park daily when i visited the park. the next time i go 1. i want to be able to ride the park 2. i want to camp in the park and 3. i want to stay for more days while in the park. the best western was nice, had a comfortable bed to sleep in and a shower to use after being outside in the sun all day after hiking and taking pics, but i love to camp either in my tent or my hammock shelter and staying in the park gives you more options and opportunity. if i didn't live in ky i'd be in that park almost daily. HEY VC! if you ever arrange a group ride of the park over 3-5 days, i'll do it for sure
@@area51xi So true! Just watched a John Muir documentary a few days ago. He’s definitely on the Mt. Rushmore of Yosemite along with those 3. Chris Burkard maybe honorable mention
My family went the end of May and it was and is as spectacular as you say. We stayed at Tenaya lodge but wished we stayed somewhere else. Next time is sounds like Bass Lake is the place. Love the videos keep it up. Although I wish you made this video back in a April 😛
I always new Yosemite was an awesome place to ride, but you just showed it in a way that made it even better! Yosemite is on top of my bucket list! Whenever you Visit Disney World (Orlando, Fl) and need a cycling guide contact me. I’ll lend you a bike and take you to the best spots.
I’m just getting here this morning. Glacier Road is closed for the entire year 2022 it looks like. Have you been able to ride your bike to glacier Road is it open for cycling or is that closed also? Awesome video thank you. I’m ready for a ride! Just waiting on the sun to come up
Hey VC! You’ve inspired me to do the Glacier Point Ride when they open the road to cyclists only. Been checking the NPS website and road conditions phone #. Are these the best ways to find out when they open? Just curious if they would announce bike only opening via these channels or if they announce it somewhere else. Don’t want to miss it this year! Hope to spot you out there! Love your vids!
Yo Dude njoyed watching you and Jasper and the Family camping, lovely, I'd like to come to your area,I'm in Staten Island. New York, keep on doing it,I like your Vibe.👍👍👋
Great info. Got a few questions. Would it be possible park the car somewhere by the intersection of Glacier Point road and Wawona Rd, and ride up to the tunnel? I was thinking early May when the park is not open yet. How’s the traffic on41 when the park is not open?
I like your info, you really got this bike thing figured out,I'm not vegan but you make me want to try the Burger that you make ,would like the recipe,🤔
Thanks for the vid…. My wife and I are coming mid September if we can get an RV spot in the valley. We want to ride in the Valley itself so we are looking for mileage loops and rides if you have anything let me know Jim
Thanks VC for this yet another great video. I definitely was looking for this. I am thinking of driving up from Fresno (stay in a motel) and driving up to Wawona Lodge or even Bass lake in a rental car with my bike. The plan is to start from Fresno really early in the morning 4:00 AM, reach Wawona, park over there, and start riding to the valley, maybe ride around for the day, then return back to the car. The second day I might try riding up to Glacier point, unfortunately I have never ridden uphill. My trip is planned for May end. I would like to have camped in the valley, but I have zero skills in camping... Are there places in Wawona or Bass Lake where the car can be parked for an entire day until evening?? What about passes, I believe one needs a park permit for visiting national parks in California...
I do tours, for about $500 I put up in my house, feed you home cooked meals, take you into Yosemite, supply all the ride food and lunch and do a dinner afterwards. It's badass. We can also do a 2 or 3 day mini camp if you're up for it. Email me at VC@THEVEGANCYCLIST.COM if that at all sounds if interest.
Hey Tyler, thanks for the video. Planning a 4-day trip to Yosemite beginning of May. Will definitely do the valley and Glacier Point. Any other must-ride routes? Maybe around Bass Lake?
So bad news bro... the snow pack is so bad that Glacier point will most likely be closed. But email me and I will send you a must do route near bass. Vc@thevegancyclist.com
Are there any routes in or near the park that would be good for gravel bikes? Mixed surface would be ideal: paved, gravel roads, smooth singletrack, or forest service roads.
I'd love to go there one day. @VC, are you going to host that ride like I think you did some other years? Maybe that would be a good excuse to get over there.
Nooo...you're revealing all the insider secrets. Now my early May trips to Yosemite will be even more crowded. Seriously though, the tent cabins are not bad and you can get heated ones. But you do need to reserve early (like 6 months early). And if you have kids, then biking in the valley is unbeatable.
Hi, thanks for the video! Is it possible to do this ride in mid January? I love to ride in the winter, but I couldn't figure out if the road conditions are clear/safe enough to ride.
Thank you VC, this National Park is pure beauty. Hope local authorities will keep away Starbucks, McDonald'd and anything that will damage this unique scenery and peaceful harmony. You obviously love this place very much, they should appoint you Yosemite on-2-wheel Ambassador. Any grand Fondo or Sportive up and around this Park?
Thanks for that video VC, I'm going to save it as I really hope to get out there next year...2020 at the latest. Hope you're staying safe with the wildfires.

You need backpacking permits to camp in the hiking/backpacking sites during backpacking season
Yes, however every camp site was full and the backpacking sites were all empty but a couple so we were able to stay there.
Suggestions on renting a road bike in the area 1-3 days? No cruisers!
Nothing compares to the tunnel view!
