“Do it scared.” - epic mantra
I haven't dated anyone for about a yr. At 46, I hate to say this but I have kind of given up at this point. I am thinking about me and my dog and our quality of life. It gets old to meet someone new, tell your life story AGAIN, etc. Especially on dating apps. It's exhausting. If someone comes my way organically, awesome. If not, that's life.
Dating apps are also tricky because they're mostly appearance-based, very impersonal, & there's so many attractive people in one spot which might cause you to be extremely picky & swipe left on people you'd actually be attracted to irl.
I first met one of my exes on Tinder & I took like 3 minutes deciding whether or not I should swipe right. I thought he looked just "ok" in his pics compared to my other matches, & his bio seemed a little cheesy, but I gave it a shot anyway. In person I was genuinely shocked at how ridiculously attractive & charming he was, & how I almost swiped left on him.
Because men usually don’t use outlandish filters and cake on make up to make their pics look better. All the women I’ve ever met on tinder dropped 2 points in person
We all should learn dating new people and NOT COMPARE them to our exes… Which is what Im struggling about…
In my mid 30s and newly on the market, I've found OLD totally totally sucks now(I met my previous ex on OLD 3yr ago). For starters, women grossly misrepresent themselves in their photos - a lot seem to be taken at the perfect angle to hide their flaws and they seem to touch them up extensively on top. I've had no issue pulling actual matches and then first dates but I have since learned to never spend more than just a coffee on someone I've never even actually seen before and make it short. Catfishing is rampant.
I never have any luck on those dang dating apps. I much rather prefer an IRL connection over them.
It's hard to find a good community. School is good because everyone goes up until college, and college still attacts a wide variety. Outside of school communitiies get more niche and attract more people whose identity is much more defined by said community which I don't love

Women control the atmosphere of the dating. If she doesnt like your looks then game, money status personality are already discarded. Majority of men are invisible to women, but the good looking men are not enough for all the women. They would rather date goodlooking or be single their whole life.
This is everyone. not just women. When is the last time you dated someone you didn't find attractive?

@@TheLoveChat The real problem too since i left a comment on top already is that most women nowadays are totally different than the old days since back then most women were very much real ladies and very old fashioned which was a real plus at that time, making the dating scene very easy since finding love was definitely so much easier too. Plus the great majority of women today unfortunately are very high maintenance, independent, and really don't care to have a man in their life, very selfish, greedy, spoiled, picky, gold diggers, cheaters since they can't even commit to only one man at all, narcissists, and feminists as well.

So I was just chilling with my ex at Taco Bell and she told me that she recently went to her Gyno and the guy told her that she was infertile. She then proceeded to cry and I asked if she was okay and she said “We can never have kids”, I said “wait what?” And then she said “I can never have kids”. That sound like a lil Freudian slip or am I crazy?

In my life, as a 52 1/2 never married bachelor with emotionally based special needs, dating is COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE!!!! Why? Because I’ve been turned down 100% of the time and have been complained about by quite a few. I don’t believe in the “in a relationship” fantasy. Losers like me are HATED 100% of the time!!!

I approached hundred of girls. Literally like 10 every month for like 9years. Some I talked to for seconds and some for months. Got lucky with casual sex when they didn’t have nothing going on but the end result they rejected me. It’s hard for men no matter what they do. That was my 20s tho. Hopefully 30s will be different.

I kinda disagree with dating apps not showing us rejection. I stopped using them because of rejection. When you get a match and then they unmatch you, ghost you, whatever. This hurts most on Hinge where people can see that you liked them and then choose to match or not. They will match to ghost. Or, what’s more common, I swipe right on everybody and I get a match every like fourth or fifth day

I agree with this wholeheartedly :) dating is really discouraging right now. I have been working on myself for the last year or so and still don’t feel quite ready to return to active dating, but I’m dreading doing so.
I hope I can meet someone suitable while out and about in life, but when you learn your worth and raise your standards it makes it even harder to find a match 😆🥲
