There are no words that can describe how touching this piece is. John Barry you may not be in this life anymore but forever I keep you in my heart through your music
John Barry's lush theme song from one of my all-time favorite movies is absolutely brilliant. His extensive use of French horns in the theme is amazing and magical.
@@brianfeuhtinger3267 He knows how to use everything. He doubles and triples instruments over each other until they sound much richer and it pulls you completely into his music.
What John Barry was a master of was arranging harmonies so that you never could never completely predict what wonderful surprise was coming next. Because his surprises and interludes were so musical you welcomed this violation of expectation. Able to compose beautiful natural melodies as well. This is what non musicians term sumptuous or lush or compelling. It is what composers call damn good work.
My God! So so shockingly amazing! And the director or the camera director is as an artist as the maestro himself! As if being the camera maestro knows exactly timely where to have the camera eyes .. Just incredible work
Almost!!!! I am crying! Just watched Out of Africa again and it’s the suggested soundtrack of the same love I have for the same man that has suggested it to me! I could sit for days in silence and just feel I’ve struck gold others profound to so many!
Can't decide which of Out of Africa or Somewhere in Time is the most moving; but both have added significantly to my life. Mesmerizing is the word to describe them, alright. Thank you John Barry for your talent, and evident inspiration.

I’m a very casual music lover, don’t have much music knowledge. I embrace all types of music as long as it pleases my ears and mind/heart. It doesn’t matter to me if an arrangement differs from the original; doesn’t matter to have “something else”. The same for different movies based on the same novel, or a movie story not following exactly the novel. I view each one as an art in itself. Variety makes this world more colourful and interesting.
Cette chansons je l offre à, Stéphane autiste mort trop jeune 30 ans pour qu'il puisse trouvé le chemin de la lumière du paradis mérité parce que il faisait parti des plus petits sur terre Adieu mon ami stephane 😭❤️
If I would never have heard the piece as originally written, I would have marveled over the beauty here; but whoever arranged this took real liberties, and I think he mutilated rather than enhanced the composition.
What is wrong with the audience? Hardly any reaction at the end. I know all about British dignity, but, come on! This was an absolutely lovely, moving piece.
Curious choice of the oboe instead of the cor anglais. It would have been easier on the the cor anglais so I suppose the very low, quite pungent register of the oboe must have been what the composer was looking for. Amazingly well played by the oboist any way.
you want music to portray a vista or a moment - how does a orchestrra exhibit an african expanse or a love theme- this should constutute any syllabus in the study of music and furbish those who would wish to makw a mark on those 5 lines with the confidence they WILL be heard

I have to be honest, this is one of my favorite pieces of music, but I don't think this arrangement does the original composition justice.
Overorchestrated. Something Barry never did.
Agree. Too much

Somebody wrote words to this "feelings I still remember feelings" is part of it. 8s it on here at all?
Yeah, where did you see it outside of UA-cam? It’s called “Places” I think if you search “Places out of africa” it should come up 🙂 it’s amazing

you can almost hear similarities to born free and how he has gone back to that soundtrack as the type of music for africa.
