Immobilizer / Anti theft

Easy method on how your immobilizer can detect your key. The only thing I did was left the key in the ignition to on without the engine running. The immobilizer icon blinks rapidly but after waiting for several minutes the light blinks 1 time then interval then blinks 5x. waited for it for 5 minutes then the immobilizer light turned solid. When the immobilizer light turns solid turn the key to off then turn the ignition to start the engine.

@Jo Ann Lewis, if the immobilizer light is solid when you turn the key to the on position then yes the immobilizer is in the lock position. I believe the 2011 Altima has a slot to put the I-key in, if it does, try putting the key in there and see if the vehicle starts. If not, then the immobilizer probably saw a "difference of key" meaning that it read that wrong key tried to start the vehicle and it is in lock mode.

My Mazda' s factory immobilizer just locked out my car. I got out, locked and unlocked my driver door with my key and the immobilizer shut off.

I have a 2011 Nissan Altima - changed the key fob battery, car started. Came out the next day and now the car won't start and there is an icon that is a car with a key in the center - in the manual it says immobilizer - so I guess it is engaged - how do I unengaged it? Lord knows, while this is convenient it will cost me $150.00 to get it reprogrammed - if that's the real problem. Any idea are worth a try - none of these are relevant the key fob system for Nissan.

I have a 2008 mazda 5 mpv I have tried this method and didnt work or me they make these cars so damn computer dependent it takes just one simple component to fail and something like this to happen but it's so damn frustrating!

My mazda 5 samething issue i just try to remove the negative terminal of the battery and remove the ecu or computer box for 24 hours then Put it back and put your gear on neutral and start your car. My mazda 5 car start right away and i think i got the solution of my problem 👍
