We have a 2010 Traverse 3.6. We have been having this alarm problem for the last four months or longer. It first started with the alarm going off every 6 hours or so and all kinds of messages displayed on the control panel (theft attempted, hood open, traction control off, side door open etc.). We ignored all these crazy messages and tried to put up with the alarm. But in the last couple of weeks, it has deteriorated to the point that it shut down the power of the car twice for no reason. At first, I thought it was the battery issue so I simply charged up the battery with my own battery charger and it was fine. When the power was shut down the second time, the charger could no longer charge the battety because it "detects a faulty battery". I asked for outside help to jump start the car and it was fine. The battery was checked professionally which indicated it was still very good. That was the story. I watched your video several times and followed your instructions but unfortunately both my wife and I could not locate that life saving button. This is not an after market alarm system. We bought this car brand new and have been owning it since then. Robert, please help us out.

None of the buttons on the fob turned the alarm off. I had to grab pliers and remove the positive battery cable. After inspecting I notice a aftermarket alarm piece under by the right knee. Then at times it works fine. Unfortunately there is no switch though that I can find. Is there another spot where they place the alarm so I can disable it? Thanks for your video and help regardless.
@@AmputeeZ Hi Robert, thank you for your reply. I did look at the sub dash and around the cab area and without removing it yet I found no out of place or aftermarket wires, harnesses or anything else of that nature. Everything under the hood looks factory as well so without removing the sub dash yet my guess is that it is factory and not aftermarket. I believe that the 2005/2006 GMC Yukons came factory with I think 2 alarm systems. One of which is a start up disable alarm though I haven't yet fully searched that out either. The batteries both under the hood and in the key fob are operational and are still functioning correctly through when I put the key in the ignition and turn it to accessory most of the time all the lights and stereo, door locks, windows etc. light up and become usable. It's only when I turn the key to the start up position that everything shuts down. It seems like that's when the alarm engagesand often stays engaged until I disconnect the battery, reconnect then start the process over again though more often than not the alarm stays engaged and I get no power to anything and I get the same effect as if the battery was still disconnected or dead. It's a head scratcher at this point but other than that everything is working and functioning correctly. The ignition sith only has 3 settings as well. 1- off, 2- accessory and 3- start. I was thinking maybe that it might have to do with turning the key to stand by but that option isn't available. Any thoughts and/ or help will be greatly appreciated as at this point the truck is basically a 3,000 pound paper weight Thanks again for your time and effort. God bless.

My car alarm goes off at night sometimes (2am)... not because of criminals! I don’t know the true reason but I believe it’s b/c the hood latch is not latching correctly. @@AmputeeZ what if I do have a key fob. I bought a 07 f150 2 days ago. It came with only 1 key. No fob. Yesterday I had a locksmith make me a second key and a fob. I drove to the gym this morning and back everything was fine. I was using the new key and new keyfob. Now a couple hours later I go to turn on the truck and alarm goes off. None of the buttons on the fob turned the alarm off. I had to grab pliers and remove the positive battery cable. After inspecting I notice a aftermarket alarm piece under by the right knee. I connected the battery cable and notice it blinks red. There's a button on the back end of the piece and pressing it does nothing to stop the blinking. Do I fall under this solution you provided in the video?
Hi sir its for factory alarm? For may toyota innova?
I am having issues with the car alarm on a 1999 Chrysler Sebring JXI. I could not find a button near the hood release. Are there any other likely places to find it?
Bruce Webber Sorry for delay I was away. U can always trace the wires back from the battery to under steering wheel and see where there put the disable/enable button.
So is this for most cars or in just these type of cars you working on
Is it an aftermarket alarm or factory?

Accessories not Accelerator, Right?

Is it a factory install alarm or aftermarket?
I have a 2006 Honda civic and I can’t find the button anywhere
It is factory I would assume
thanks for info..but what do you mean "put car on accelerator"...?
My apologies. I meant accessory. I never thought I was gonna have over 2 million views or I should’ve corrected it earlier lol.
I drive a 2006 GMC Yukon and have this issue except a lot of the time the power cuts completely off whether the key is in the start position or whether it is in accessory. Then at times it works fine. Unfortunately there is no switch though that I can find. Is there another spot where they place the alarm so I can disable it? Thanks for your video and help regardless.
Hi Ryan, is it a aftermarket alarm or factory alarm?
Any thoughts and/ or help will be greatly appreciated as at this point the truck is basically a 3,000 pound paper weight
Thanks again for your time and effort. God bless.
@@ThePrivateryan It sounds like this is a factory alarm. I’m not a mechanic I just happen to run into this issue with a aftermarket alarm.
@@AmputeeZ I agree and I'm not either unfortunately. Thanks for your time again and have a great day.
@@ThePrivateryan Same to you.
My horn keeps going on after I park the car. I try to lock or open the door from the outside with the key 🔑 and nothing happens so I just disconnected the battery.

Is it an aftermarket alarm or factory alarm?
Is this for a Mini Cooper Clubman S with factory alarm? Dead battery, when charging alarm triggers, drains battery. Read manual several times can get all doors open w key fob but alarm will not turn off during charging no matter what.

Luis Ortiz This video won’t help with a factory alarm unfortunately.
Robert Zanni so what can I do cause it starts for a second or two and cuts off?
Luis Ortiz try following the wire from your battery for the alarm and see if there is a disable button on the end
this man made a very helpful video .... ya bashin dude because of a slip on a word? really? wheres your video then badass? ..... waitin..... exactly! soooo hush it!!!!
Grady Turner I appreciate it!! I never thought I have over a mil views.
Yes he did make a very helpful video, and *some* of the people explaining that it's the *accessory* position of the ignition switch, not the accelerator (pedal) which he mentioned, are just trying to *clarify* what he said, so as to help people who didn't figure out what he meant, that's all.
My car alarm goes off at night sometimes (2am)... not because of criminals! I don’t know the true reason but I believe it’s b/c the hood latch is not latching correctly. Anywho, I asked my auto guy to disable the alarm. He had it for two days and said it’s more complicated than just pulling the plug. Since my car’s alarm is connected to the gas tank. So, pulling that would interfere with my gas. I have a 2014 Ford Focus
What do u mean by accelorator? Are u saying to put key in acssessory or to put my foot on the gas pedal if so what postition should the key be in?
Yes
Robert, what do you mean by "Key in accelerator? I have a 2005 C240 sedan and I can't get the alarm to stop going off. Before I try your suggestion, I need to know.

thanks for the video but I just need clarity, "put your key in accelerator"? you mean just put your key in the ignition & then push the alarm button, then turn the key? I was taught the accelerator is the gas peddle, never heard it the way you said it.

I’ve got an aftermarket alarm installed on my 89 Honda CRX, just put I a new battery and the car won’t start. I can hear clicking for a few seconds. Can’t seem to find the switch you’re talking about near the hood release pull. There is an on/off toggle switch that appears to be aftermarket near the ignition and a little red flashing (alarm) light is on the opposite side of the steering wheel. The toggle switch was in the ‘off’ position when I tried to turn on the car. Have tried disconnecting the the negative wire on the battery, but nothing. Any help?
Did you ever fix I’m having same exact problem
The key position is the 'accessory', not 'accelerate' position.
Yes correct.
I put the key in the ignition at acc and pressed the button for a 3-5 sec and nothing happened. Can you tell me what else I can do? and the red anti theft button is flashing.

That's really something! except that 99% of cars don't have the button. You have an aftermarket alarm if it has this button. If you have to do this more than once yank the sucker out!
Yes, that is correct. If it’s a factory installed alarm this video will not help.
