My KIA OPTIMA 2012 has been having gear slippage for 3yrs now & acting erratic when changing. I changed gear oil severally even with synthetic gear oil, yet no change. I then had engine overheating issues last month Dec 2023 & it turned out my cooling fan was not working. After fixing the cooling fan, my mechanic suggested that we remove the THERMOSTAT since our climate here in Nigeria is quite hot. Guys, we removed the THERMOSTAT & to my greatest SURPRISE, barely a week later I noticed the gear slippage had stopped! I went back to my mechanic who said apparently, the gear was overheating all along & that's why it was acting up! But removing the THERMOSTAT must have helped to further reduce the engine & gear temperatures! So if you're having similar challenge with the transmission of your car, you might try removing the THERMOSTAT & watc the performance of the car for a while! My KIA OPTIMA 2012 is fine now & shifting perfectly! I'm so happy because I was already planning on getting a brand new transmission this year.
Our 2008 Saturn Aura XR 3.6 6T70 has a code saying the shift solenoid is stuck open and having some shifting issues. Gonna get it fixed asap and change out the filter as well, no doubt there is some debris causing this.
i have a 2005 ford f150, the problem i have is when im driving at a regular speed i cant go over 30 mph the only thing is the truck just roars up, but if i slam down on the gas the truck shafts into all grears up to 50 or so mph but once i ease up on the gas and try to regain speed im not allowed to get more speed until the speed goes under 30 mph. what can i do to solve this problem.
My mechanic told me it was a bad transmission valve body. Grab one from the junkyard. But have them check to see if theirs any metal shavings in the transmission fluid filter. If it is then your transmission is bad
Would down shifting the up shifting 4th to 5th gear at lower speeds 65km per hour to 90 km per hour light on the gas be caused my a bad solenoid ? Or is it my transmission control module?? 2009 Acura tl sh-awd

I have a 2000 tahoe with the 5.3 its a 4x4 when i purchased it it had codes for shift solenoids but ran fine i replaced them then it ran the same. About 2 years later transmission gave out and i had it rebuilt i syill have the same codes its been 3 years what can cause that???? Thanks in advance
I'm no mechanic but from what I have learned they have to be reprogrammed. That means you have to find someone with a machine to do that or see the dealer ...... I'm still trying to decide what I'm going to do....

I pulled over and it wont drive forward but it will reverse no problem. there was no grinding or noise of anything breaking in the transmission so could it be the solenoid?? Edit: also it's an automatic but can be put into manual and when in manual I can select 1st and second but not 3rd 4th or 5th

2002 camry will shift normally with light throttle, But wont shift until4000-4500 rpms under normal throttle. Or until i let off the accelerator. The tranny level is about 3/8 inch below the lower hot mark when engine is warmed up. Is this model that sensitive to fluid level? It shifts just fine into drive or reverse. 231000 miles. fluid probably never changed. no error codes
@@marcanthony9659 The car is an automatic. Under normal acceleration it wouldn't shift until 4000+ rpms. Turns out the two diodes in the MAF were extremely dirty. I could barely see them.
Any codes? Are the solenoids/ switches on your transmission external? If so, it could be one of several. The shift solenoids of course but also the linear solenoid has affect on shifting. Has helped many Honda owners but that is when the transmission isn't toast inside. Shaking sounds like torque converter

Showing a manual clutch and shifter when talking about an automatic transmission or a wiring scheme on a circuit board that looks more like a wall thermostat or a home appliance instead of an automatic trans.

Of course. You need a new or rebuilt trans, 2-4k, depending on the vehicle and all it is is a $35 solenoid.

Change your transmission fluid. Make sure you are having the right levels
Lower transmission valve body is what it is switched it out myself with a used one from pick a part. Now runs like new again

That exact same thing happened to my girlfriendss car and turned out it was the neutral safety switch! Check that out before anything!
Would it down shift and up shift frequently when hot till I get into 5 gear in automatic transmission. From 40. - 90 km per hour?

might be broken shift cable or bad solenoid

Why you shifting that high lol, rpms with normal driving at most should be 3-3.5k

The car is an automatic.
Under normal acceleration it wouldn't shift until 4000+ rpms.
Turns out the two diodes in the MAF were extremely dirty. I could barely see them.
Low fluid level means low pressure means bad shifting.

Diodes in mass airflow sensor were coveted in dirt.
