- Last spring, a window at San Francisco’s Millennium Tower blew out of its frame during a wind storm raising questions and concerns about safety of the city’s high rise buildings in bad weather. The incident, and half a dozen others, triggered calls for inspections, and changes. But as NBC Bay Area’s Investigative Reporter Jaxon Van Derbeken explains, not much appears to have changed at the tower, one year later.

So we have a story about a landlord not fixing windows on their property... why is this news again?
the dam thing is ready to fall over who in the hell would care if they had a new window. mind boggling.
This is an HOA. The HOA management has to contact the owner of the unit. The owner may not be living there for an extended period of time perhaps because they purchased the unit as an investment property aka "see throughs." The HOA management does have the right to enter a unit with prior notice to effect repairs.

I believe the real estate community coined this term in reference to unoccupied condos in narrow towers. Because no one lives there the drapes are always open enabling people to see straight through to the windows on the other side of the apartment. Such real estate investments appeal to very wealthy people who want to diversify their portfolio and hide their assets from their government. The loss of rental income doesn’t bother them.
I got hit by some glass that day. Hamburger and I were doing some measuring and all shit broke loose.

Why would anyone open a window way up there. I didn’t even think about windows opening on those kind of buildings.

But when you want to change your water heater the city charges for an inspection. Who signed off on this building?
I would be interested why a stop work order was not issued when the plans were altered to use cement on the upper floors which added more weight to the structure was never in the original blueprints and steel was the material to be used for the project.

. What state do you live in .. each state has a different laws on what a homeowner can or not fix with out a permit..
Will this add to the weight of the building? Maybe only add those new brackets to one side of the building
