    San Francisco was the last place I got to visit in February right before the pandemic hit and ruined everything. I had no idea that I would be unable to go anywhere or do anything for the rest of the year, but it's a really beautiful city. @@RainierKine it was unnecessary to change its height. If it was built at its proposed height. It would be the tallest building in America outside of Chicago and New York. Also, you can’t really see the pyramid anymore amongst the skyline looking from the south to north because of the newly added skyscrapers. Ever since the 1,070 foot Salesforce Tower was built, it took its attention from the pyramid. It stands over 200 feet taller and offers a projection at night time. The pyramid has seen better days. But nonetheless, she’s still a beauty when seen from the north. Btw the pyramid is only 853 high. The under construction OceanWide Center will be 910’ feet, making the pyramid 3rd tallest by 2022.

      You're right about the Salesforce Tower. I think it was as disliked as the Trans America Tower when it was first built. Short of actually building a phallus and scrotum shaped building, just about any skyscraper tall structure becomes normalized, part of the background that for residents signifies home. The B1M, something to add to this story: this building has the TransAmerica's name, the TransAmerica company was small in terms of the number of workers. In 1975 the TransAmerica company occupied two of the higher floors of the building, smaller floors when compared to the lower floors of the building and most of one of their floor had only really nice large offices for their executives. TransAmerica had around 113 employees in the building including the executives and their support personnel, the remainder of the employees were on the floor below, mostly CPA people and a few MBA positions. The building was built as a symbol for the company to lease the majority of the space to other companies. Car parking was limited when built and has gotten even more scarce over the years. This was a vanity project to make the CEO feel important.

    What a great show! B1M simply rocks!
    Some of the aerial photography of the city reminds me why I love it so. You flew over many of the hotels that I have spent much professional time doing various shows within. The HARDEST loading docks on the west coast to back a truck into. From a 30° street...
    Unfortunately, San Francisco has some of the original NIMBYs. That is why the freeways stop at the edges of town giving us horrendous traffic [now that the end of the central freeway has been pulled down]. We need some highway tunnels! A 1/ US 101 north/south tunnel from the I-280 to the GG bridge on the west side and a connector to the Bay Bridge, I-80. Underground is the only way it would ever pass the NIMBYs.

    • @RaymondHng
      @RaymondHng 3 роки тому

      At an inflation-adjusted $22 billion for Boston's Big Dig, I'm sure the NIMBYs will launch a legal/political fight against the underground construction and expense.
