This video was so helpful...definitely saving this to reference! Hopefully will be able to find a job and get a visa so I can make the move to the UK in 2024!
Some crazy number like 45%+ of the local rental propertives have been taken off the market as landlords sell up driving demand for properties up HUGE as supply is crushed. It has been miserable for sure these last few years, but the last 12 months was even worse. And then the price is huge, and what you get is isn't much. Once you're IN London, and in a flat, you can perhaps spend time, long before handing notice in, and take your time looking if you need an upgrade.
Yeah it’s crazy! I think you’re right, the first move is the hardest. For next year I’ll have more time to look and find something cheaper I hope - but no guarantees LOL
We arrived in 1999. We decided £150 to £160 per week was good. Found two adequate flats (apartments) in our favoured area of Limehouse, but then was presented with another for £230. We took it as it was on the river. It was awesome. It even had parking, although we hadn't been thinking about a car. Rents have moved up a bit since then...
The Rental market in the whole of the UK the last 2 years is very poor and the Prices have gone through the roof.
Yeah it’s crazy expensive! And rental market is so crazy.
@@SheRunTheWorld Totally agree, the Rental Market has gone mad in the UK.
The rental process in the middle / north of the uk is certainly like you experienced in the US, no bidding just pay the price advertised
Very interesting! It must just be London then!!
