High Revs is never good for a long time on these bikes. So its a great change to be able to have a higher 5th gear to ease the Engine on longer trips. :) Great change!
Funny. Its been promoted as a 250cc bike. Im running a vader 150, grom clone kind of thing, and it tops out around 63 as well (gps). I've seen it go as high as 68-70, downhill, but generally speaking it does 55-60mph in most conditions just fine for about 80 less cc.
Very nice walk through install and test on the new chain and sprocket setup CDL. Yeah looks like the Chonda definitely has more usable power for around town crusing. Rpm’s appear appear to be a better range in those lower gears. Also got you a few more mph’s on the top end 🏍️⚡️👍
I bought the Halk 250 DLX with the electric fuel injection and mine stock it will run 63mph .I bought it in 2023. Not sure what it came with. But it has been a GREAT bike for the money.
On my Apollo Db36 250 Deluxe street legal model I'm Running a 17 /38. Came Stock with a 38 rear but I changed entire drivetrain from stock 530 to 520. 530 is overkill for the smaller displacement engines. It's a zongshen CB250 overhead cam engine. 229cc. Did Emissions delete. Made stock 17'' wheels tubeless & put Dunlop sportmax Q3 plus street tires on. 150/60-17 & 110/70-17. Nibbi pe30 carb. Nibbi 4500V ignition coil. Iridium sparkplug. Big gun rev box CDI. Full exhaust. New bars. Polisport SM front fender. Added auxiliary lights with own switch. Added a fan with own switch. Added rpm/hour meter. Same cnc foot pegs in black. I hit 83 mph and wasn't fully doggin' her. 7300 miles on her. My brother has on aswell he put a double exhaust on his. They've been extra reliable. But then again I take really good care of my shii. Ride safe..
I just got the Thunder 250, and I am running it stock but the 520 chain sounds good and I dropped a Nibbi PWK28 in it and it pulls good, back wheel always spins off road.
Just out of curiosity, why didn’t you just take out the master link to remove the old chain? It was a few links behind where you used the chain breaker.
I think sometimes these motors need a bit of a break in too. After at least a couple hundred miles and an oil change they loosen up a bit. I just picked up a '23 DLX EFI (counterbalanced) and will ride it carefully through that process before I do any kind of sprocket upgrading -just to see what it will actually be capable of. Was curious what kind of cargo case you have on the back of yours and where you purchased it?
i just went from a 17 front sproket to a 19 i had to clearance the case and a 52 to a 37 on the rear it added alot on a shineray allroad 200cc how do you like the hawk
The bike is looking great, four more miles an hour is not bad at all considering the power of the hawk.
I like what you did to your seat.

I think I can getna little more speed out of it. I need to check the valves again. It's an easy job to do on this.
The change of gear ratio is one thing, in order to take advantage of it is to increase horse power.
have heard the 17 45 is been the best for on and off road use.. :)

Where did you buy from? Thanks.

That sounds like an awesome set up.

Seems like a good change for just cruising around.
I like pushing this little motor hard.
It is fun, just not fast.
running 17-40 after port and install the 70mm big bore kit. 75mph is top
Great video with explanation sir!

Either way works. That's just the way I chose to do it
Good deal 👌

This motor has a few thousand miles on it. The hard case is an Emgo case. Ebay had them awhile ago
funny i bought a 2023 hawk dlx efi and it had 17 and 45 tooth sprockets all ready on it i get 75 mph on it stock
Yeah. This had 16 /50 stock. They did change a few things on the newer models
Try 17 43....u will get more better result

It's a nice bike to ride around locally. Not very fast. I don't mind getting it dirty on crappy roads.
I was under the impression this bike would do 70 mph
Mine barely does even with the mods
It’s not exactly a speed demon. 😎👍
Definitely not. Still a fun ride.
