I really loved how they let Michio have a redemption moment, and even acknowledged subtly with Walker paying her that compliment, "Steady work, cargo." It really pushed a common theme in this series that you need all types of people. For every Bobbie and Amos you need a Prax or an Anna.
Winston Duarte's monologue at the beginning of the episode was an expository dump so that the viewers know what is going on with Laconia without having to read the novella "Strange Dogs."
I'm not sure I would call it an expository dump, exactly; it was all pretty vague and allegorical. It does provide great insight into his character, though. I hope some day we get to see that character in action.
It was interesting. We learn that the girl has never been to earth and that he's disillusioned by the failure of Mars. So much that he has founded a colony to realize that lost ideal on his terms ( that includes summary execution as justice). Then we learn he's going to activate the platforms from cortazar.
I love how with each episode everyone's like "Oh this time Marco has gone over the line, his crew are starting to see him for what he is. They're going to kill him. etc. etc." 🤭
0:40 A Redoubt is a type of temporary fortification. During the Age of Sail the record for a surgeon to amputate a leg was 2 1/2 minutes, all while the victim was conscious and (mostly) without any kind of anaesthetic.
Correct about the common theme of people standing their ground for what they believe in. That's the meaning of the title of this episode. A "redoubt" is military terminology for a reinforced location a force retreats to in order to stand and hold the ground.
Taking nothing away from the show! It's an amazing adaptation. In fact the writers add an incredible mount of depth to the characters, the locations, and the atmosphere using the show and the visual medium. I've rewatched the show twice now and read all but the latest book for both rewatches. Together they really are a beautiful completion to the story. Both are vital. Even if it's just the novellas you'll absolutely appreciate getting the entire story.
I really don't think Cas Anvar getting fired had anything to do with the show coming to and end at S6. As I understand it Amazon only picked the show up for three seasons, and though it was possible that they could have worked out a deal to make more, they didn't. Probably because the show doesn't have a ton a viewers, and the material from books 7-9 would apparently be even more expensive to translate to the screen, due to the scope of it. I think they knew S6 would be the last one a while ago. As for the reduced episode count, I think that was largely down to increased production costs due to COVID. Trying to make the same show with the same budget per season but much higher cost per episode due to COVID restrictions and related logistical issues = fewer episodes.
I had also assumed a big part of the reason they stopped the show was because of Alex’s character being written out and not wanting to completely upend the source material to adjust for Alex not being alive.
Its covered in the book "Strange Dogs" at the same, so not really a spoiler, but the driver who ran over the kid doesn't get shot, whats done instead is much *much* worse than death ;)
I try to not let details ruins entire stories for me, but Holden disarming the warhead, thereby condemning who knows how many people to death unnecessarily by the prolonged war was really hard to get past for me. Such a boneheaded and selfish move, the un and mcr into a desperate and costly last stand with little planning and not even able to meet Marco on even ground, just to ensure he can keep getting laid. Had the free navies leader, his heir, and much of their leadership been lost, the knows how many lives woul've been saved. I get they had to do something to prolong the Marco arc to episode six, but there were so many ways to do that that wouldn't have involved making the protagonist look like an irresponsible dumbass who has no business on a gunship in the middle of a war.
Just let Mikey sleep and have him watch the show in his own time. Doesn't really add much from the reaction at his state. I'm not hating, but it's lowkey annoying. Rana's even called him out twice in full length.
I for one appreciate Chris for his joke at 32:45. Don't let them get you down King! You don't need that kind of awkward silence energy in your life. They just cannot see the greatness and shame on them! To the rest of the cast: Shame. Live shamed for letting that man's genuine glee at his joke creation die so slowly and tragically. A weaker man would have just given up on life right there but luckily Chris can handle it. :D
They writhed and swam, and behind them, everything swirled and came apart. With no one manning the lighthouse now, the elder gods had returned. -Naomi, Leviathan Falls
Amazon did this show a huge disservice with this season. It really needed to be a full season and instead they gave us something that made game of thrones final season look like a lovingly crafted masterpiece
"Live shamed and die empty" is one of the most BRUTAL and DEEPLY SATISFYING lines ever said in a TV show.
How the hell did you comment 6 days ago?! lol
That’s one big FU I’ve ever heard

So belter to refer to a passenger as "cargo"
@@m.e.3862 Nah, it's a reference to two episodes prior when Drummer wanted to pay him to smuggle her. She was his "cargo" at that time.
Rana, " I don't even know who's the baddest b/tch on this show, they're all so badass"
Michio, "Hold my drink!"
Awesome lol *Michioooo

I wish there was more actual exposition though. He barely said anything of actual substance in his speech.

@@tonycamas9747 Yeah exactly. It's not exposition at all. It does provide you a window into his motivations, however.
Mikey's falling asleep the entire time, even when Josep's arm is being cut off
Ifkr lmao dude could barely handle keeping his eyes open during the whole thing 💀 Do they film this in the dead of the night or what
@@danielrodrigues4903 actually ya that is often the case

I actually cried during the video Mónica did. It's too realistic and it hits home
Meet Admiral Winston Duarte! When they ask, "What does a Lawful Evil character look and act like?", I can just point to his picture.
We should all aspire to have the chance to say "Live shamed and die empty" to someone at least once in our lives.
Agreed
23:32 - Clarrisa gave a Holden speech to Holden!

wondering if you guys now it but there are mini-episodes after each normal one, just a few minutes long, showing some cool stuff

READ THESE BOOKS GUYS!!!! AMAZING STUFF!!! It makes so much more sense.
Audiobooks?! Lol
They may (and I think that Mickey is), but the show should stand on its own.

loved the reaction!!!
S6 recaptured the series 3 mind blown 😳 sci fi goodness. So many good moments #liveshamed #dieempty
27:24 Yamseng!🥂
The first scene was obvious "important character" exposition. That was a bit frustrating to watch you just talk over all of it
Doing reactions is a two edge sword, the instinct to entertain sometimes overrides the scenes.
I still really like these guys, but sometimes they seem to want to be the new rifftrax or mst3k with all the jokes and side comments
