Day 4 of rescuing the 1978 Grumman Cougar GA-7 and time to install the props and get these engines ready to fire up! We’ve faced a lot of obstacles so far on this project and today is no different but hopefully we’ll be able to power through the work and get this airplane ready to fly once again!

I started BetterHelp a month ago and I’m really liking it. But am I able to get this discount still?
FYI oil bottles have the cap off to one side because the rest of the top is a FUNNEL ... flip the angle side to the bottom ... and you dont have to worry about the last drop of oil .. that is why they are shaped like that ...
every time I see some one leaving them upside down to drain sets off my stupidity alarms .... yep one has to be very stupid NOT to actually use the built in features
Jason thanks for letting me be a little part of the rescue. I can’t wait to see the final video. Bobby.
Hey Bobby ! Having you out to the airport and flying with you was next level ! Shoot me an email when you get a minute. Jason@rebuildrescue.com
@@rebuildrescue redo the lock wires ... they should NEVER be able to slide back and forth once finished ... as that movement allows them to stress break and can cause the props to leave the plane while in flight ... as it sits now it is NOT legal to fly in Canada with that plane with them
Great crew doing a great job. I am so hooked on every project of Rebuild Rescue, and can hardly wait to see the cougar start and fly.
Awesome, we really appreciate the positivity! Thank you for being apart of the Rescue Crew!
Wow guys! Great job on the Cougar. It will be cool to see those Lycoming’s run up and see her fly.
Love this Cougar series! You guys are the best.
So glad you enjoy them Brother! We always look forward to your comments 👍🏻👍🏻
Cougar are the BEST!@@rebuildrescue
What a beautiful hangar.
Another project one step closer to completion. This is going to be a sweet flying plane. I see it staying in your stable Jason! lol
You never know😂🤣
Brian has some skill on that safety wire. It is an artwork!
Definitely agree!
I said the same thing. I'm pretty good at safety wiring but he's on a whole other level, it's picture perfect!
Over-twisting is the issue, In the Navy they made us do it all by hand without those wire pliers!
I remember lock wiring nuts & bolts on my submarine
Yes, we are all capable of doing far more than what we give ourselves credit. My professor said, "Just do it and keep going." Coffee and pizza does help.
I refuse to drink when I do projects. I need a clear head or I'll do stupid stuff. I like the coffee and pizza idea I will use that!
Way to go Jason im glad you doing this for the aviation community.
One of your best.... I love that airplane and seeing all you great guys working together and getting this beautiful airplane close and next issue flying and being ready for sale.
Thank you for your kindness and positivity, we're lucky to have you apart of the Rescue Crew!
I flew from palm spring with my dad from palm spring to vegas in a cougar in 1999 when I was 13. Pretty much the most amazing thing ever for a kid from England to do. Everyone was so friendly
That is a priceless memory, sounds awesome 👍🏻👍🏻
An incredible memory. Palm spring was fantastic, the only thing that spoilt it was I was hauled away from a slot machine in circus circus ( turns out 13 is was too young). Good times.
❤ When I was in the Air Force I had watched the people who worked in the sheet metal shop that could put those safety wires on blindfolded almost but they probably had miles of wire experience. Lol.
The crew there working with you are top notch.
Man, I wish I could safety wire as good as Brian. Truly a master of his craft.
Thank you for the teamwork and pushing the limits.
Safety wire is an art, you’ll get there. Only way I got better was messing it up a bunch and others showing me the tricks.
That hangar is awesome!
Seen that sludge before in aircraft cranks. Nasty stuff. Whenever we did a prop change, we always spent a lot of time cleaning it out
great job on the engines and props, im ready to hear her run!! thanks for sharing larry
You guys have cliff-hanging down to an art form.
That's great the way you guys work together
We have a great team, couldn't ask for better!
I wouldn't have accepted that safety wire job personally if I were signing off. He also didn't go opposite direction when doing the pigtail.
that Grob G103 in the rafters was the 1st glider I ever went up and soloed in.. i should go do some soaring.. i haven't been since i was a teen..
401 finished Q4 of '25. called it here first.
Dude bro. That hangar is absolutely gorgeous.
It really is😍
There better be a video tomorrow morning! Good luck guys!
That’s a beautiful hanger!!
Ah, Jason, safety wiring those prop bolt are just real fun aren't they? They make a special extended crows foot for those prop bolts. Makes them easier to torque.
Still amazed no one has any fuel lube for those gaskets. There's always that gunk in the crank snout, but you got it as clean as anyone could hope for, NICE JOB!
They sure give you a lot of room behind the engine on those. On our duchess it's a hassle just getting the oil filter off. Doing good work guys.
Making good progress! And there actually IS someone who has MORE planes then Jason?!?! Looking forward to seeing it make those sweet airplane noises and convert dollars to power!
The video starts at the 5:00 mark, just to let you know.
Thank you!
Loved the 6 days comment! XD I caught that and approve greatly! ♥
His tongue was firmly in his cheek I presume!
This Aircraft just crashed outside of MQS at 1:27 PM. Praying everyone is safe. Hope to see an update soon!!
Pilot dead. sam ganow rip
Saturday Awesoness, thanks for the continuing education.
We appreciate you stopping by and supporting the channel every week !
Loved the rewind!
I call it Freiser Crane Coffee
There's very good donut shop downtown, Louis' very, very good pastries! Got alot rolls from there whilst I helped to build the Kempf funeral home up on N old 27 ,just south Dennys, on the west side ! It was really cold and kempf would come by with rolls and coffee for us,it was greatly appreciated!
Great watching your team making progress..
More to come! Thank you for watching
It's nice to see your getting done with it but when the hell are you getting back to the 401?
Seems that you are doing a lot of hardwork as the videos are awesome and before time !!!
Thank you so much ! We get so much motivation from you all to work as hard as we can !
Dear Jason,
You and your friends almost got the 1978 Grumman GA-7 Cougar back in the air. I know from a flying friend of mine that these planes are rather rare but it was a successful built and sold plane by by Grumman American Aviation. I can’t wait to see this plane flying again in your next vlog so I look forward to that and send you love from the Netherlands
Thank you for always spreading positivity! See you next week Brother👍🏻
I think a big chunk of the budget keeps going on lunches 😊
Lol! If it did we wouldn't have made it past day one 🤣😂
It quite simple Jason, the lay of the locking wire always goes in a reverse S shape for right hand threads. No more than 3 bolts should be wired together with the same piece of wire and max distance between bolt heads or nuts 75mm. Royal Air Force standard.
How many more videos can you stretch this out?
Wanted to see it today
Looking Jason! Love your videos.. I was sitting here waiting until the new one dropped this morning.. keep up the great work with your great team.. Can't wait till the next one
Correction.. Looking good Jason
All of us here at the hangar appreciate the love and support you guys constantly show! We are super lucky to have the Rescue Family following along on all our questionable decisions 🤣❤️👍🏻
It’s called “Safety Wire Mate”
You will survive the maelstrom of building an aircraft fleet. slowly slowly catchee cougar nice one sir crack on i cant wait to see this in the air next to sams
When I was in the Navy, those pliers were a big no no ! Too easy to over wind
I want a T-shirt with Bryan's face (including full beard and beeny) that says "Tastes good on toast too!"
PROGRESS... Perhaps that Old Beech 18 in the last frames could be your NEXT Rescue ';-) Thanks, Mike~
That would be so fun!
Why don't have a checklist of the things that need to done?
Hey Jason. I really love your channel. Would you consider doing a video on an electric plane. I’d love to see you guys at work on an electric motor. I think it would be quite fascinating. I have yet to see any videos with anyone working on an electric motor on a full scale airplane. Thank you.
I like your vidoes
Thanks!
The fancy coffee is what makes it happen… 😁💪🏻
😂😂👍🏻
Thank you, Jason captivating content, great editing, always a pleasure to watch these tutorials and videos👏👏👍👍
We appreciate you stopping by and showing support! We wouldn't be here without the dedication from you all ❤️👍🏻
Love watching your videos. looking forward to the next instalment.
Thanks for watching Matt! We are glad to have you apart of the channel 👍🏻
Nice work.
Thank you Brother, good to see you on the channel!
Hey guys Awesome job!!👍👍 That will be fun to fly! Love the cougar ❤
You mentioned it would have been worth fixing/painting the firewall, will the 401ns engines come out for the painting process, or is it better to paint them put it all together and just do the exterior?
Your pals from Oz! 😃
Oh Darn, I was hoping to see those propellers spinning :)
I want the 401😊
HEY! Good morning and thumbs UP!!
Good morning Richard, we hope you enjoy the update 👍🏻
@@rebuildrescue I'm sure that I will , I always look forward to your videos. 👍💯
Man hope ur good just saw a plane exactly like this one crashed in Chester county by by my crib
Refinish and clean - yeah I am thinking that the whole time - you have it apart with great access that won't happen for ages again. Oh well - as a mentor used to say to me - "what can you do when you live in a shoe" (had zero meaning for years to me, except I would say it because I heard it endlessly back then; when you kind of toss up your hands and realize it is not in your control).
Progress! Merry Christmas!
Happy holidays! Thank you for stopping by and supporting us!
We have faith in you Jason, we know that you can get it done. I would use the old show business thing of break a leg, but on second thought, no.
And yes, I fully understand the desire to strip it all back to bare metal on every last thing and do the full process, but sometimes that just is not possible. Keep up the good work and may the engines run in the correct direction.
Thank you for the kind words, lol we'll stay away from anything related to breaking bones😂🤣👍🏻
That banana in one bite, I thought he was gonna push his own head down on it .
Gosh I love this plane..You guys are the best.😅
We love this plane too, thank you for following along and supporting us on all our adventures. We wouldn't be able to do it without you !
been a fun watch for sure.. love the vids
Thank you Randy!
Fun episode! So close.... Great editing with the memes, text, & clips. Stay safe. ☮
Thank you, we appreciate that! Have a restful weekend 👍🏻
Donizete Bragaca SP Brasil ✈✈✈✈✈✈✈SP Brasil
Almost ready to fly. Joe needs to grease the other side. Time for a Pizza Break ? See you on the next one. Love you guys ~
I see why your wire kept breaking, you are twisting it to tight. XD
@Rebuildrescue you have someone impersonating you
Joe eating the banana was priceless 😂
I want the Cougar :)
bought a shirt today for the mustang drawing after seeing it in the video and after i purchased it, it said the drawing ended on the 14th
Yes a new video 😄
We hope you enjoy!
Going with the"Cheapest you can buy" is not a good standard, for airplanes
Ty
So close… it’s been a marathon! Looking forward to seeing it fly East to the rescue hangar!
Good times. Stay safe!
Can't wait!
🆒😎👍! Doing well now! Let's start it!!!
What is up with the left eye wink when you mentioned installing the left engine?😮
I need that 4x4 you wanted to give away years ago four our horse rescue🎉
When is @rebuildrescue going to rescue a turbofan airplane?
Too many twists in your lock/safety wire, it should be 6 to 8 twists per inch. I was an aircraft technician on F111’s and crew chief on Tornado’s.
@ 17:50, it's Crank Jam . . .
The universe is six days? Sure, Jan.
When the 401 is flying again he will be a GOD at the Safety Wire :D
13:12 - Pineapple does not belong on a pizza.
I’m patiently waiting for 401 content. What happened to weekly 401 videos?
I like that hoodie you have on the blue one. Are you gonna have those in your merch store bro?
We have our new hoodies coming out soon !
What's the story on Joe's teeth? I'm looking forward to seeing him smile.
Those pizza's are killing me - I go to the "C" brand probably twice a week for my shift over at Mom's (chicken and burgers the other nights); they don't have any toppings close to that.
I enjoy these. I'd enjoy them more if you'd stay with one project at a time.
Great work. Only thing that makes me cringe is keep using electric screwdrivers. When I worked on aircraft in the uk I was told never to do that as it slightly ruins the heads each time they tighten and can strip them when you loosen. You'd get chewed out for doing that over here!
Like I say though otherwise...Great job and enjoying watching all the projects...hi from the uk!
Ps....Joe smile update please ❤
random non-sequitur: I keep noticing Jason and Joe say "yet" in place of where I would say "still", i.e. "we have a couple things to put on it yet" vs. "we still have a couple things to put on it". I am originally from Cali and haven't heard this before getting into Rebuild Rescue. Is this a common thing out in this part of the country?
Too challenging goal ??? But with talented team ………………👍👍🇫🇷
When you put air in the front of the pillar
Not first.
I’m glad at least a couple of you didn’t get girled up coffee 😂😂😂
Don't worry, it was an even balance 😂🤣
I'm not trusxting a random therapist through some random app on a phone.
