- This video will go over the mechanical side of building out an Overland Vehicle. We specialize in building Chevy Suburbans but many principles will apply across the board. Remember that having a mechanically sound vehicle is #1 and adding on extras comes secondary. Also using high quality replacement parts is worth the extra money. Thanks for watching and good luck!

Only the BEST Dads have pretty nails! Great job.
Thanks!
I agree wholeheartedly the BEST Dads do have pretty nails 🌼 My 4 yr old gave her dad a manicure as a gift on Father's Day (we thought it was temporary polish since it said for 3-5 year olds). My husband had gotten up, take a shower and went to work. They had an important inspection Monday, everyone was dressed to the nines for the Admiral of the Atlantic Naval Fleet. My husband was on the receiving line and as he went to shake the Admiral's hand (Geo. cringed when he saw his fingers) the Admiral commented on the nicely done manicure then winked. His thumb was a beautiful shade of red; he had also gotten a manicure for Father's Day 😆
You definitely have the best manicure of any mechanic I have ever seen..."hands" down!
Very thorough prep. Thanks for sharing the process.
Thanks!
I gave you a thumbs up just for the fingernails. Got to love a guy who's on daddy duty...🤣❤️💪🏾
Thanks!
Hey Grady, Your finger nails are great just like suboverland products. Your daughter did a great job, very cute. 😊
Thanks
So glad I found and subscribed to your channel. Just picked up a 99 burb. Time to do some mods.
Awesome!
Love it...i just got a 2005 suburban looks just like the before photo...
Nice!
Really enjoying your videos, I just found your UA-cam channel 👍‼️✅
Awesome!
Great dad!!!
Thanks
Been watching really like your product Great 👍 option a Suburban!
Thanks!
@@suboverland part number for Moog HD springs plz and thank you
What torsion keys did you use and also do you have a part number for the shocks? Thanks for the great videos!
You're a good Dad!
Thanks
I’m a suboverland convert. Can’t wait to sign up for my own rig. Great work you guys are doing!
Thanks!
Yes nice nails!! also what size tire do you run on the 17" wheels ? thanks,
Daughters are the best!
Agreed!
Love your videos! What springs did you use in Rear?
By the way great job on the suburban
Thanks!
Nice rig! Can you show us the van at 2:43?
Almost makes it look like a different color
Which lift would you suggest for 2WD burbs?
I have a question for you; the size of the tires you put on new is LT285 / 75R16 General Grabber ATX tires and how much is the cost to lift the truck 2 inches. Thank you.
Thanks for posting, great to see your process. Has anybody had a custom pop top added to your work afterwards?
Thanks! We haven't done one yet.
@@suboverland Thanks for the reply. It is great to see your imagination meet an automotive icon--the results are inspiring :-).
Great channel! I have an 02 yukon xl that I love! I’m looking to lift it 2-3 inches...I put a rough country leveling kit that upgraded the torsion keys put caps on the springs and rough country shocks all around but didn’t seem to affect height. If I swapped out those rough country shocks with those bilstein 5100 would that give me the lift I’m looking for?
Shocks won't change height but the Bilstein will ride way better than the rough country
I see you found my vehicle already. LOL
Lol. Not quite.
Thank you for sharing! I was looking at doing a 3” lift on my Tahoe. Was debating on doing aftermarket keys vs cranking stocks. What brand keys do you recommend?
They really do the same thing. The difference is in how worn your t-bars are. Ford torsion bar keys were the popular trick years ago because they're indexed slightly different so you can crank more.
We have used multiple brands throughout the years. It honestly doesn't matter much.
We painted my dad’s nails once and he had to to work the next day and we didn’t have finger nail polish remover😂😂😂
Nice!
just got a 96 chevy suburban 2500 Ls 2wd 125,000 OBS runs great clean body. what modds can i add for more power in the engine?
What engine does it have?
I feel you on the painted nails I got 2 girls lol #GIRLDAD
Thanks
Hi, hope all is well. I'm in Upstate NY and I own a 2005 Chevy Suburban. I really like the base builds you do on these trucks. Tires, lift, etc. Wanted to know the prices for the build/upgrades without the bed platforms. Thank you.
Thanks! Send us an email at support@suboverland.com and we can get you a quote
How are your front angles after the crank? Any issues down the line? We did an S-10 Blazer kit years ago from Superlift that came with new upper control arms.
No issues because we aren't cranking them too much.
Does the 2 or 3inch lift change gas mileage?
Great vision! Great Videos! What do you do to blackout the rims?
Wandering the same. Also? Was a spacer placed to move the rims out? Or is it a wider tire?
Wondering not wandering
We paint them but spray can
@SUBOVERLAND Great Video! What size and offset are the new wheels you installed?
Good luck lol
They are original wheels.
I have 2004 chevy suburban 1500 LT with 4X4 everything works but I need to downsize my vehicle she has 215873 miles and is on 18s thinking of trading it for a smaller suv any suggestions what would be fair trade for it or suggestions does have sunroof no leaks of any kind ac works everything works dealership offer me 3200 as trade in but dont want to have payment
Lol on the nails. This is a nice rig. Some surface rust is to be expected with these older vehicles. Do you think using those anti-rust sprays would help stop further rusting?
Thanks! Ya those products can help
That's awesome. Is that something you can do, if needed? I sent Dakin my phone number tonight, btw.
Do you have part numbers for these products. The trans filter and gasket? Coils?
I've asked that question on three different vids. Really hoping to get an answer sometime soon....
I'm really digging your channel. I'm planning to get a hold of a pre 91 6.2l. Do you come across those?
Thanks! I have owned two 6.2 diesels over the years. Definitely hard to find. I'll come across them once in awhile. There is actually one nearby still for sale. If interested feel free to email us and we may be able to source it for you.
@@suboverland Thanks, I just may do that. I really like your product.
Tire wear ?
I have a2004 Suburban 1500 LT and I want to lift the front so it can match the rear any suggestions and what I can do it would really help... thank you in advance
New Torsion keys
With the trucks you get does it make much difference if they are 2x4 or 4x4 when you build them out?
Well, 2 wheel drive vehicles aren't the best choice for overlanding.
Did you use a spacer in the rear ? How did you get two more inches of ride height?
We don't use spacers. The rear hd Moog coil gives it a little height but not 2 inches.
Do the oversize tires affect the speedometer and odometer readings?
Yes they do. Very minimal
@@suboverland the reason why I asked was that I had a 2007 Chevy Colorado. When I got new tires for it they were slightly smaller than the original ones. It did the odometer and speedometer. By the way my wife and I enjoy your channel. We were led to it by Tristan Higbee who we have been watching for over a year.
Is there a lift for an ‘04 Denali XL. I want to get rid of the air shocks
We just use the same suspension set up as the Suburban
We sure want one..but your build time is now out to almost 2022??
Yes but it was two years out before we shortened it recently. One year is very normal for most conversion companies.
Can I do this with my 2003 GMC Yukon 2x4?
You can. It is possible. Why?
What size tires were stock and what did u upgrade to?
Stock is 265/70R16 and we upgraded to 285/75r16
@@suboverland u do awesome work!
170,000 miles doesn’t seem low. How long do these normally last ?
It's really common for this drivetrain to go around 300,000.
I'm curious to know if customers bring in their suburbans or you find them a suburban and build it for those prices
And I just got to the end of the video when you address this
No worries! We would love to build out your Suburban 👍
Is that a sub overland van in the background?
Yes
i like running boards why remove them?
Probably for better off road clearance. I'm sure Grady will keep them if that is what the client wants.
We remove them for better clearance and looks but if a client wants to keep them they have the option 👍
@@suboverland It is smart to remove them in my opinion as they are "dirt" collectors...IMO
Dig the nails. Must have a daughter. ?! Lol
Dude do you paint your nails 😉 o-my?
Lol
Grady I have a question???? Did you let your daughter paint your nails???
Yes
Hipster
You didn’t show nothing but a basic inspection
As a public speaker and trainer, I would suggest you work on your presentation skills. You have good content but truly need some practice on delivery.
Thanks
Will a full spare with those tires fit underneath?
Yes
