I agree with the second person. It's not a societal problem it's a company problem and just another reason for us to come against each other. It's so stupid. Let me be clear, I do tip everywhere I go, but if a valet company can pay their employees over $12/ hr and they still receive tips, why can't restaurants? I always say and have always said know your worth, ESPECIALLY with employers.
I wish people would tell me they are not tipping me before I serve them and see what kind of SERVICE they get. 😂🤷🏻♀️ Waitress for 13 years. I love the respect I get from most people. We hustle to make people’s dining experience enjoyable. God blesses those who serve. 💕
Frankly…. Unionize. If restaurants can’t afford to pay their workers the management deserves to lose their jobs and servers should work at jobs that can afford to pay them. If u can afford to suffer through being a server you can mentally afford to go work at Chipotle where they pay 15/hr though they put you through shit at least it makes rent without tips. We got shit tips too but I went home being like I made hundreds TODAY
You shouldn’t tip if you don’t want to but as for me I always tip and I tip double to triple if the person is personable and going above and beyond. I try to put myself in their position.
tipping all over the world is optional. it’s absolutely ridiculous to be expected to pay what should be the EMPLOYERS’ responsibility not ours. I agree it’s a demanding ass job with a low pay-THATS THE ISSUE. Unionize or quit the job are the only answers to this problem because turning and pointing the finger at fellow low/working class isn’t the answer.
I always tip these people work extremely hard on their feet and whether they’re having a bad day or not they have to be pleasant. Kudos and much respect for servers
