Not saying I'm right but some of the older generations are proud. Might not be the color of your skin but his pride that was hurt. My mom was like that for a long time. She didn't want any charity. But now we have to accept it but it broke her spirit. JS

When Dax sent Tom his verse for Black and White they were so blown away by Dax's verse that Tom and Adam rewrote their verses but ended up keeping their original verses on that song. Their new verses were then used to make this song. You can hear the pause in Toms verse matches up were Tom takes the deep breath in Black and White. This was told be Evan Morgan, Tom's engineer.

I guarantee that old man story not taking the dollar was pride. My grandma had so much pride and dignity it was hard for her to be vulnerable. She was so used to being strong and doing everything herself that when she got cancer it was hard to take care of her and help her. When she was no longer able to bathe herself she paid for a nurse to help her because she couldn't allow her kids to see her weak. So yeah I doubt that was racism the man just felt embarrassed and couldn't handle the vulnerability.

I agree. A mans pride is our biggest downfall sometimes. Alot ppl wont ask or take a hand out bc they dont want to be looked down on even if someone is really just trying to help them, its a story of ego and pride not race imo.

Yeah, it could go either way with the older generation. Sometimes their asses don't like to talk, lol. Words make the difference. You can be prideful but at least verbally not accept the money. When you do, like he did, you leave your actions to the interpretation of others. Like you said, you weren't there, and we're not the guy, so we will never know if it was pride or bigotry. I'm hoping it was pride.

You’re right everybody can be a butt or an ass but when I lived in the south, most African-Americans do not believe they can have any racist in them every time I’ve had to dispute. It’s the first thing that they would holler is I’m racist and I’m not I didn’t grow up to see color, just the people who stood in front of me and either treated me or bad it’s sad in America the way it’s going I was talk to love all people by Christian woman so more people would just be kind to each other and take a second to think about what they’re doing we would have a better world but unfortunately where we live it’s not gonna change they will always be racism no matter where you go in the world love which y’all are doing.
