This is a walkthrough on how to wire a Hive Thermostat Mini on a Worcester 2000.
Tools used in this video:
Nws multi cutters: amzn.to/3XosG6n
Knipex ergostrip: amzn.to/3jLl4NP
Voltage tester screwdriver: amzn.to/3HXHeEF
Stanley Spirit Level: amzn.to/3YGXQag
Makita Drill and Impact Driver: amzn.to/3XqFR6T
This is the ONLY reference I can find to setting up the Hive mini in remote mode. Not only that, but it was done simply and with all the caveats (duration etc) that you need. Subscribed!!!
Thank you!💪
Your’e a star! Hive website doesn’t explain fully well the wiring between the “common” , “live” and “hot water on” terminals. I’ve gone all through the manuals and community resources but none of it. Since I’ve followed the wiring, it was magic to hear my combi boiler come to life with the heater.
Solid vid this is how you explain things so thorough. And one handed too 😂 well done man
The one handed struggle is horrible sometimes 🤣
@@advancedboilertraining lol just imagine if you were a boxer 😂😂👊🏾
what about getting it on the phone and connected to the hub .
@@mgbroadsterJ this is the hubless version. I’m releasing a video tomorrow at 7pm on how to do the hub and app
So many video on installation of this and your has to be one of the simplest and on point. Well done sir
Amazing! I installed my hive remote controller by myself! Thank you a million times!
Thanks. I initially installed this using the wiring from my old thermostat and added L, N and 3...it seemed to be working, the receiver made a click when the thermostat target was above the actual but nothing happened...in your video I've seen the link between L and 1 so after adding that it worked
Absolutely brilliant vid. Very very very helpful. Keep it up bro.
Really good detailed video! 👌 nice one mate
Brilliant job sir,well done,and really well explained,thanku
Thanks mate. Brilliant video
Still awsome, come in really handy, again sir thanku loads😊
excellent video and that helped me. Thank you
Great video thanks that was so helpful. Top man
Man, I didn't realise Raheam sterling had another job. Sounds just like him 😂 Great vid.
🤣
Awesome video, helped a great deal 😊
Great video mate helped alot thankyou 👍🏻
Another nice video dude thanks 👍
Thanks!💪
@@advancedboilertraining what would be your top tips for learning breakdown training?
Great video mate
Easy to follow thanks 🙏
Another great video. Can you post a video installing the mini as part of a multi zone installation. Just bought a hive multizone system for my daughter and it would be helpful to see how this is installed for use in an upstairs heating zone.
Exellent video work
Thank you bro
Hi, great video. I want to upgrade my thermostat, I checked my current Honeywell thermostat, it only has two wires, blue and brown. Would I require a new wire?
Thanks mate next video for multi zone please
Hi great video. I have a worchester 2000 combi with the standard programable thermostat that uses the cartridge underneath the boiler to communicate with. I was told the hive system are not compatible with these boilers, is this no longer the case or do u have to get the hive mini for it to work 🤔 also can u still control the heating using the hive app with this mini, thanx
Non compliant with BS7671
Grey needs sleeping brown to indicate a "live" conductor
All points should have an Earth wire even if it is not used. Earth termination in the parking terminal,in the rec ivermalso acts as retention point to,act as strain relief
Ferrules on the cable, would be a nice touch
You’re going to love the video I post tomorrow 😉
Sleeping 🤔
Great video, thanks. Am just thinking about a Hive but not sure which to choose, this is way neater without the hub so surely it’s the better choice? What’s the difference, why would you choose one with a hub?
Thanks Man
You should always use and earn in a cable if you can. If a persons cuts through the cable it may well save their life
Thanks man! You saved me £99
You could thank me by sending me £98 on PayPal 😉
@@advancedboilertraining the cheque is in the mail 😜
This is a great vid, would only say though, please use the G/Y earth cable in the earth. this will help protect the flex correctly.
Hello, would the hive mini fit a Worcester Bosch green star 8000 boiler or would it need the larger hive unit?
Nice channel nest on UA-cam 👍
Would this same install apply for the WB 8000 series too?
how would this be installed if all you have is a two wire thermostat installed? and only two wire connections for a stat on the boiler?
Great simple video. Two questions. Is it OK not to connect an earth? I read that the Hive is double insulated - it's plastic - so it's not necessary. Also the no. 3 terminal is the switched live, right? Thanks.
Just curious but what’s the reason why this isn’t using the space where the current Honeywell thermostat is in please?
Hi, thanks for your videos, i found your video with Main Eco e30 elite boiler and Salus Thermostate, and 2nd video with Hive mini thermostate and Worcester boiler, but i have Hive mini thermostate and Main eco 30 elite, did wiring in boiler as u mentioned in salus video and did wiring in hive as mentioned in hive video, but boiler not switching heating ON when i increased the temp in hive thermostate, hive thermostate gas green light comes ON but boiler gas does not comes ON. pls help
Morning. I've accidentally bought the dual channel unit for my combi boiler instead of the single channel. I've moved the wire from 2 to 4, the heating on terminal. Should I remove the link wire between 1 and live or leave it in place? Thanks.
Can an earth wire be used on the hive thermostat new cable with permanent/switched live and neutral
Is it possible to link a Hive thermostat to an existing installed receiver (not a Hive receiver)?
What did you do with the hub
Quality mate 💪
Thanks!💪
Hiu I have an original Worcester 2000 boiler which was supplied with its own wireless thermostat. I had hive and was told this was not compatible, The model No is GC2000iW C and all electricians I spoke to inc manufacture said its not compatible, then they updated boiler to be compatible. I want to use my Hive, as their supplied thermostat is very basic
Honeywell T6360B thermostat is it same wiring.
Linking up L and 1 is very important point to note. it didn't work with out this linking up. Thanks for telling us. Shame on hive even though they make the product , Instructions doesn't work.
Excellent tutorial upload on hive min - Worcester that any DIY can follow. I presently have an old
Honeywell kit Y6630D Wireless Analogue Room thermostat. Can you please offer any wiring advice on on how I can use the existing external wires that now go into honeywell receiver to wire the hive receiver rather than open boiler apologises because this comment is off the main topic
would have been good to sleeve the grey wire with some brown sleeving to show its a live wire
Not necessary as grey is a 'live' colour. Brown , black and grey are the three live phase colours.
PS - To original video maker, great video 👍 how great you'll be when your third hand grows 😂
Cutting off the earth naughty boy 😂😂
I’ve already got a thermostat in place, it’s a dial but did have a digital one before (landlord replaced it cheaper). Am I right in thinking wouldn’t need to update the boiler and it would just be a case of installing the receiver where the thermostat dial is now?
Yeah, exactly that 👍
So you wire from the fuse spur straight into the boiler)
Do one about connecting the hub pls
I usually wire the receiver while it's off the wall
Does it matter which terminal the grey cable goes into could it be terminal 2 or 4 instead of 3 would it make any difference thanks great video bro.
It should go into 3👍
@@advancedboilertraining I'm wiring into an Ideal Logic 30, grey wire into 3, the thermostat kicks in the controller and it lights up green but no go with the heating. Unsure if this is normally open or normally closed. Previously had a Horstmann HRFS-1 T50 installed
i have a worcester 2000 and when i remove my panel to expose the wires etc they look nothing like yours - there is no LR LS NS N L - all i have is a blue block, brown block and a orange block that has 2 connections on each with 2-1 2-1 2-1 the orange block has BUS written on it, i have scoured the net to look for these same connections to fit a hive and cannot find anything like mine
the thermostat needs to stay on the wall?
Great video,
Is the difference between hive and mini hive is that the extra hub ?
Yeah the hive mini is hubless
Incorrect. If you buy the full hive mini kit it’s comes with the hub also. This set up was just the thermostat & receiver which is a cheaper alternative
@@Tom-fs4ue yeah this is the hubless one
Great video. I have a worchester 2000 combi with the standard wireless thermostat it uses a cartridge underneath the boiler, i was told the hive isnt compatible with this boiler, will this mini hive still allow me to control the boiler through my hive app
I'm a total ameteur I have just recently replaced my kitchen cabinet which had a digistat SCR coming in below it. I didn't want to cut out a hole in my new cabinet and took it off the wall. It is hanging off the wall at the moment and made me think about replacing it with something more high tech for my ecotec plus boiler. I noticed something odd or at least odd to me, when I took it off the wall I assumed it would only be connected up to the boiler as that was the only large white cable I could see but then there was a second one in the wall. I'm now even more confused looking at this guidance video as there is only one large cable connecting the two together like I assumed there would be with mine.
Any idea what the second cable is for?
It's Ok I figured it one was going to a fused spur the other was going to the boiler.
Did you use the existing wires inside the boiler to connect this or did you buy extra wires to install it? Handy video but I just couldn’t work out whether you used new wires or used the existing wires 🙈
A new wire, I bought some 4 core 1mm
How do i add the hub at a later date ? what do i pair first with the hive hub? Sorry to bother .
This is the hubless version. I’ll be posting a video within the next week on how to set up the hub
do you need the hub to use the mobile app whilst on your home wifi? (i know you need it for outside of your home network)
Yeah you need the hub to use the app
@@advancedboilertraining I thought that would be the case, not a huge amount of clear info around though. Honestly don't really need the app functionality though
I just installed one of these today in stand alone mode like this. The documentation that comes with it and the installation instructions online are dreadful.
I installed as per instructions and nowhere does it mention the link between live and terminal 1.
I read the manual for the thermostat I removed and it mentioned linking L and terminal no 1.
Once I did it the hive worked as it should.
Yeah the instructions aren’t the easiest of things to follow. Hope the video helped 👍
Why fit a smart thermostat that can’t modulate a modulating boiler?
Because it’s what the customer picked. He got it really cheap off of someone and wanted it fitted. I advised against it but that’s what he wanted
It's alright, under the Part P Plus and Part L legislation it's the customer that faces the £5k fine if they go to sell or rent and it's picked up as non-compliant.
If you're supplying and installing though you have no choice but to fit one that complies or the responsibility and cost falls on you as the installer.
Which opentherm stat would you recommend for Intergas Rapid 32
That's what BG is fittings for the customers, and it works. Not everyone will have money to purchase the nest thermostat. Some are found to find fault in what seems to be a post
Is it the same installation for hive v3
Yeah, I’ve also got a video on the V3 on my channel
I can’t find it
You havent explained how to use the control and what does "actual" and "target" mean .
“Earth” needs to be connected!
It’s not flashing orange
Good video but why the gloves ??
So I don’t wreck my hands 😂 it’s just a habit. Before I go into any job, big or small I put on gloves
Use 5 core much easier
I thought number 1 on the receiver is ‘common’ and you leave it. I’m only asking because Ive messed up and I have no heating. Hive are blaming the wiring
Yeah so if you wire it exactly the same in my video then it’ll work. The Hive instructions aren’t clear at all
I’ll give it a go. Thank you!
